All Time Great Koko Taylor Has Passed At Age 80

For those that do not listen to the Blues Koko Taylor was a musical giant among the players because, first and foremost, she was a player, not a poser. Tough with a heart of gold and a voice of gravelly silk, Taylor stayed to her roots and matched the boys toe-to-toe with a passion for life and music that could be exhausting just to see and hear, much as it must have been to watch Mozart conduct.



Just wow. Absolutely wow. I got me some Blues to listen to to give my respect to the passing of this great singer.

Some history:

Born Cora Walton on a sharecropper’s farm just outside Memphis, TN, on September 28, 1928, Koko, nicknamed for her love of chocolate, fell in love with music at an early age. Inspired by gospel music and WDIA blues disc jockeys B.B. King and Rufus Thomas, Taylor began belting the blues with her five brothers and sisters, accompanying themselves on their homemade instruments. In 1952, Taylor and her soon-to-be-husband, the late Robert “Pops” Taylor, traveled to Chicago with nothing but, in Koko’s words, “thirty-five cents and a box of Ritz Crackers.”

In Chicago, “Pops” worked for a packing company, and Koko cleaned houses. Together they frequented the city’s blues clubs nightly. Encouraged by her husband, Koko began to sit in with the city’s top blues bands, and soon she was in demand as a guest artist. One evening in 1962 Koko was approached by arranger/composer Willie Dixon. Overwhelmed by Koko’s performance, Dixon landed Koko a Chess Records recording contract, where he produced her several singles, two albums and penned her million-selling 1965 hit “Wang Dang Doodle,” which would become Taylor’s signature song.

Koko Taylor was one of very few women who found success in the male-dominated blues world. She took her music from the tiny clubs of Chicago’s South Side to concert halls and major festivals all over the world. She shared stages with every major blues star, including Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, B.B. King, Junior Wells and Buddy Guy as well as rock icons Robert Plant and Jimmy Page.

Taylor’s final performance was on May 7, 2009 in Memphis at the Blues Music Awards, where she sang “Wang Dang Doodle” after receiving her award for Traditional Blues Female Artist Of The Year.

One World Nuclear Weapons

In the Czech Republic in early April Obama said this;

The federal government mistakenly made public a 266-page report, its pages marked “highly confidential,” that gives detailed information about hundreds of the nation’s civilian nuclear sites and programs, including maps showing the precise locations of stockpiles of fuel for nuclear weapons.

Now, Obama in a speech in Cairo stated:
No single nation should pick and choose which nations hold nuclear weapons. That is why I strongly reaffirmed America’s commitment to seek a world in which no nations hold nuclear weapons.

Who should choose? If no one nation holds nuclear weapons, who will? What is Obama describing here, possibly a super government that will have the right to pick and choose, IE govern, all nations? Who will rule this super government? Who will decide who will be this ruler? Who will fund the super bureaucracy which will own no soil, but rule all soil? How will there be recompense or opposition to such a super government?

Where, on this planet, will we find the Solomon wise enough and impartial enough to make decisions concerning life and death of nations or will it be a council of Solomons? How will this super government enforce its decrees? Will there be a council or congress given such power under Chapter MXCCVIII after endless sanctions fail or will there be swift and deadly action against transgressors of the peace?

Will the 'peace keepers' wear uniforms with a double thunder bolt, skull and cross bones or a rainbow insignia as they wield their nuclear weapons over the 'nations' of the world?

China, Russia, Korea and the countries of the Middle East and Africa have not earned the right to be part of such a super government.

Thank you for your international "I have a dream" speech Mr Obama, but I think we should retain our nuclear weapons and the decision whether to use them or not. You offer the world and our country good theater, but in the end it is just that, theater.

Different? I'd say so. We don't reward murders wielding long knives for the decapitation of infidels and rapists plying their trade with family, friends and neighbors with a promise of 72 virgins for eternity. Mix in nuclear weapons and their intended use by Iran and those differences become more clear. To us. Not so much with the Obama Administration.

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

'Climate Change': Women, Children & Minorities Hit Hardest

Climate change causes 315,000 deaths a year-report

Climate change kills about 315,000 people a year through hunger, sickness and weather disasters, and the annual death toll is expected to rise to half a million by 2030, a report said on Friday.

The study, commissioned by the Geneva-based Global Humanitarian Forum (GHF), estimates that climate change seriously affects 325 million people every year, a number that will more than double in 20 years to 10 percent of the world's population (now about 6.7 billion).

Economic losses due to global warming amount to over $125 billion annually -- more than the flow of aid from rich to poor nations -- and are expected to rise to $340 billion each year by 2030, according to the report.

"Climate change is the greatest emerging humanitarian challenge of our time, causing suffering to hundreds of millions of people worldwide," Kofi Annan, former U.N. secretary-general and GHF president, said in a statement.

"The first hit and worst affected are the world's poorest groups, and yet they have done least to cause the problem."

The report says developing countries bear more than nine-tenths of the human and economic burden of climate change, while the 50 poorest countries contribute less than 1 percent of the carbon emissions that are heating up the planet.

Annan urged governments due to meet at U.N. talks in Copenhagen in December to agree on an effective, fair and binding global pact to succeed the Kyoto Protocol, the world's main mechanism for tackling global warming.

"Copenhagen needs to be the most ambitious international agreement ever negotiated," he wrote in an introduction to the report. "The alternative is mass starvation, mass migration and mass sickness."

The study warns that the true human impact of global warming is likely to be far more severe than it predicts, because it uses conservative U.N. scenarios. New scientific evidence points to greater and more rapid climate change.

The report calls for a particular focus on the 500 million people it identifies as extremely vulnerable because they live in poor countries most prone to droughts, floods, storms, sea-level rise and creeping deserts.

Africa is the region most at risk from climate change, home to 15 of the 20 most vulnerable countries, the report says. Other areas also facing the highest level of threat include South Asia and small island developing states.

To avoid the worst outcomes, the report says efforts to adapt to the effects of climate change must be scaled up 100 times in developing countries. International funds pledged for this purpose amount to only $400 million, compared with an average estimated cost of $32 billion annually, it notes.

"Funding from rich countries to help the poor and vulnerable adapt to climate change is not even 1 percent of what is needed," said Barbara Stocking, chief executive of Oxfam in Britain and a GHF board member.

No way you can make this stuff up. We are in a financial crisis, not because of the match called Fannie & Freddie that lit the fuse, but because we did not, "make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades."

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we've made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we've seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.

So we've got a short-term problem, which is we had to spend a lot of money to salvage our financial system, we had to deal with the auto companies, a huge recession which drains tax revenue at the same time it's putting more pressure on governments to provide unemployment insurance or make sure that food stamps are available for people who have been laid off.

So we have a short-term problem and we also have a long-term problem. The short-term problem is dwarfed by the long-term problem. And the long-term problem is Medicaid and Medicare. If we don't reduce long-term health care inflation substantially, we can't get control of the deficit.

So, one option is just to do nothing. We say, well, it's too expensive for us to make some short-term investments in health care. We can't afford it. We've got this big deficit. Let's just keep the health care system that we've got now.

Along that trajectory, we will see health care cost as an overall share of our federal spending grow and grow and grow and grow until essentially it consumes everything...

It may be the mental health of Frank, Dodd, Pelosi, Reid, etc., but health care caused this financial mess? Besides out and out corruption in Congress the problem is big government and making it bigger will not improve one damned thing.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services announced Friday that the state jobless rate for April was 10.2 percent, up from 9.7 percent in March.

Department spokesman Brian Harter said last month's rate was the highest since December 1983, when joblessness in Ohio hit 10.4 percent.

Government bailouts mean government control. In a move backed by the White House's Auto Task Force, 789 Chrysler dealerships will be shut down.

Dealers received termination letters Thursday morning."What we didn't sign up for is having the government come out and say, `Hey, we're going to cut 2,500 GM dealers and 800 Chrysler dealers because we think ultimately it's going to make those companies more successful,'" said Peter Kitzmiller, president of the Maryland Automobile Dealers Association.

He says shutting down local dealerships won't work.

House Democrats on Tuesday stopped a Republican plan to force a campaign finance inquiry that likely would have investigated several influential Democrats. It was the eighth time since late February that the Republican move was halted.

It was a remarkable day, a tangible expression of public outrage that I have not experienced in my 25 years of advocacy and grassroots organizing on behalf of free-market principles.Judging from the left's hysterical reaction, something really big must have happened. But the only way to really understand the left's misinformed and paranoid attacks is to realize that the protests represent tangible proof that basic libertarian values continue to resonate with the American electorate. You can't spend money you don't have, the tea party attendees understood, and government spending above current revenues must be paid for with higher taxes, more borrowing (to be paid for with higher taxes in the future), or artificial government expansion of money and credit, which can only debase the currency and make everyone poorer through inflation.

So how did the media miss the real story? Perhaps the question itself is silly because it assumes that left-of-center reporters were actually trying to "report." Some were, though most simply regurgitated the talking points supplied by partisans in the blogosphere.

The Matthew Shepard Hate Crime Law Concerning A Crime That Wasn't A Hate Crime

New Details Emerge in Matthew Shepard Murder
Six years ago, on a cold October night on the outskirts of Laramie, Wyo., 21-year-old gay college student Matthew Shepard was brutally beaten, tied to a fence and left for dead. He was found 18 hours later and rushed to the hospital, where he lingered on the edge of death for nearly five days before succumbing to his injuries.

The story garnered national attention when the attack was characterized as a hate crime. But Shepard's killers, in their first interview since their convictions, tell "20/20's" Elizabeth Vargas that money and drugs motivated their actions that night, not hatred of gays.

While Shepard lay unconscious in a hospital, the national press quickly arrived in Laramie. Cal Rerucha, who prosecuted the case, told Vargas the media descended on Laramie "like locusts."
"We knew in the newsroom the day it happened, this is going to be a huge story, this is going to attract international interest," said Jason Marsden of "The Casper Star-Tribune."

"I remember one of my fellow reporters saying, 'this kid is going to be the new poster child for gay rights," he added. News of Shepard's death sparked reaction overseas and demonstrations across America.

That a human was brutally murdered is tragic. That his death was used and twisted for personal and political gain is equally tragic.

Once the emotional political agenda faded from the story many other facts that told a different story started to emerge, but that hasn't stopped Congress, the media and the gay community from using a drug related murder to violate the First Amendment and continue to push an agenda that our country does not agree with.

Does that make us gay bashers? No.

Does it make this another lie driven piece of legislation for an over all agenda to further distort the core of America? Yes.

This is just another step to enlarge 'especially equal' voter blocks for the Democrat Party. It is smart politics, but unconstitutional and plain wrong.

Shame on those that prey on people. Shame on those that prey on society for political gain. Shame on all members that have or will vote for this legislation and any like it.

Even though I may disagree with many of them I find that most are good people with interesting and thoughtful views. Lisa Renee does an absolutely outstanding job of being editor and has never been anything but gracious and receptive to my ideas and responsive to my questions.

Why am I apologizing? Simple, my visitors have had to see extreme vulgarities in a few of the headlines on the BNN feed that I have on my site. Unfortunately, some spew their trash as a child might to act cool and 'grown up.' They are neither.

Lisa Renee allowed me share my concern with her. I expressed to her that I have been known to cut loose with some most colorful language from time to time. Unfortunately, many of my friends can attest to that. I am careful not to offend those who do share my opinion that it is perfectly okay to reply to a stupid statement with a, "I don't give a dead rat's (behind)." When I do, it is the child in me that I allow out. My late mother and my wife have never been impressed, swayed or humored when that juvenile in me slipped out the few times it did within their earshot. I apologized immediately and made sure I didn't offend again as I would to any person.

I have no doubt that those that speak like this in a public forum such as BNN's headline ticker do not care if others are offended. They don't care if those with deep feelings of religion or just plain common self respect are offended because these writers understand neither. Obama urges passage as Kennedy introduces hate crimes bill in Senate
As U.S. House lawmakers made preparations Tuesday for a floor vote on hate crimes legislation, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) introduced similar legislation in the Senate.

The new Senate bill, called the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act, is named after a gay college student who was murdered near Laramie, Wyo., in 1998 because of his sexual orientation. Like the House bill, it would enable the Justice Department to prosecute hate crimes committed against LGBT people.

In a statement Tuesday, Kennedy said the legislation is "long overdue" and "hate crimes are especially poisonous."

"They are acts of domestic terrorism that target whole communities, not just individuals," he said. "This bill will bring greater protection to our citizens and much-needed resources for state and local law enforcement to fight these vicious crimes."

Other sponsors of the Senate bill include Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Arlen Specter (D-Pa.). A Senate Judiciary Committee spokesperson said she didn't know when the committee would take up the legislation.

I do not believe the personnel in our court systems are sophisticated enough, including jurors, to understand how this law would be able to be spun to further take away our rights and to alter our culture in the direction the supporters want it to go. They ain't jabbering about traditional values.

This bad legislation. This is a bad idea. We have a Constitution that addresses this issue and this law will eventually lead to the First Amendment becoming completely illegal.

Democrats will have to learn if they can work with a person of such low moral character and traitorous behavior. It will help that they have leaders that have shown that they will do whatever it takes to win which is exactly how Specter obviously works. That a person would show such devious selfishness at such as time demonstrates a disloyalty that will, no doubt, warm the hearts of the Obama Administration.

Specter says he's switching from GOP to Democrats
"I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate," he said in the statement.

"I don't have to say anything to them. They said it to me," Specter said, when asked in a Capitol corridor about abandoning the GOP.

A senior White House official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because no announcement has yet been made, said at 10:25 a.m. EDT Tuesday President Barack Obama was handed a note while in the Oval Office during his daily economic briefing. The note said: "Specter is announcing he is changing parties." At 10:32, Obama reached Specter by phone and told him "you have my full support" and that the Democratic Party is "thrilled to have you."

This victory for the Democrats has Rahm Emanual written all over it just as the strategy and tactics do in the Minnesota recount. Specter and Franken will make fine additions to their members in Congress and will give Obama 60 vote margin necessary to ride roughshod over the Constitution and the American public.

I will do everything possible to make it as difficult as possible for Specter to retain his seat.
