Been On The Road

I've had the pleasure of being out with voters, candidates and their staffs lately and I am heartened. I have met with people who are knowledgeable and motivated and are now engaged in the political process at the local, state and national level. They know the issues and, more importantly, the laws affecting the current and coming elections, how they must legally act and are aware of what they must look for as others attempt to game the system in attempts to illegally win elections.

Yesterday I met two very different voters who purposely visited a headquarters to offer their support as volunteer campaign workers. Both are naturalized citizens, but one came from a nearby country while the other came from a far away country, one is retired while the other is really just starting their career. They share a passion in that they both came from places that the United States now seems to want to emulate and this mistaken change more than worries them. In different way they both said we must help stop this mistake because a changed more powerful America government, that liberals and progressives envision, will create yet another gray and heavy presence that deprives entire nations of the joy and drive necessary to become ever greater. These two know so because they have lived both ways.

They actually love America. They love life. Those qualities should not be confused with simply living the dream because they are ready to fight for their beliefs that are more American than many who were born here. This is the America I know and love. Each visit and each campaign re-energizes me.

Back to work. Happily so.

The Tea Party Is Going Global

Anyone who has actually been involved in the mechanics of politics knows that polls are used more to push opinion, thus they are called Push Polls, than they are used to actually accurately gauge voter opinion. A prime example was the degradation of the 1960's silent majority by polling firms that couldn't find them and today we are witnessing the very same as "pollsters" point to the unpopular and dwindling Tea Party movement. They do this in an attempt to push opinion against the movement for a simple reason, they are scared to death of the Tea Party.

The Global Tea Party thus extends from the United States to China, leaving its footprint in the Middle East.  You can even see it in Europe, most recently in the Netherlands, where the lynchpin of the current government—Geert Wilders, an outspoken Christian—has called for a reassertion of traditional Dutch values, denounced the excessive toleration of reactionary, intolerant Islamism, and convinced his countrymen to require immigrants to learn Dutch and learn, and abide by, the rules and ideals of their new society.  His recent speech in Berlin  sounds very familiar to anyone familiar with Tea Party passions.

So when we hear the leaders of the American Establishment declare war on the tea partiers, we would do well to remember that such movements are deeply imbedded in our national DNA, that those Establishment types owe their own status to such a movement, that the dreams of the tea partiers are shared not only by millions of American voters, but by freedom-seeking peoples in some very unexpected places, and that it is no accident to discover that a global movement in the name of freedom coincides with a global Great Awakening, with roots in America and its unique revolutionary tradition.

Yep, China. I wonder if members of the Tea Party-like movement there are called stupid fat white old people that are anti-science by intellectual elitists pining for the return of Mao Tse-Tung like such American heavyweights like Nancy Pelosi, Andre Carson and Richard Trumka.

Payola? Rahmbo Back On the Ballot

He's back! It was interesting that in a press conference he immediately got his spin going by saying that what is important is the companies that have left Schicago in the last year and the companies that will come to Schicago in the next year. Like, is Rahmbo going to change the tax, spend and corrupt atmosphere in Schicago and Illinois?
Maybe Rahmbo will get Cook County exempted from the new state taxes. Maybe certain children (cough, cough) will get cushy jobs with one of the new companies Rahmbo will be getting to come to Schicago.

Maybe this ruling stinks of something other than the law.

The Blame Gamers Have Forgotten Gabrielle Giffords

They never really needed her except for the image of a bullet hitting her skull. After that it was a simple trajectory of political blame and their game of one-upmanship to attempt to destroy their opponents. A body would have been nice, but not a necessity.

The necessity was to smash Palin or the Tea Party or Republicans or all of them in one blow that would probably have been possible before the Internet and cable when dinosaur media ruled the Democrat presses and airwaves.

The necessity now is to control the debate to win concessions concerning talk radio, net neutrality, Second Amendment rights and the Fairness Doctrine. No crisis should be wasted.

There never was nor is there a necessity to think of Gabrielle Giffords as a living breathing hurt human being. It might be a public relations convenience, but not a neccessity that she has a husband who loves her, but he makes a good backdrop of the astronaut and naval aviator. That he and other family members are in pain is really not important.

God can't answer the prayers of those that only pray at the altar of politics, but He will answer the prayers of people praying for the recovery of another human because no matter the politics they bring humanity to the altar of God.

I hope He hears my pitiful prayer that in the midst of this blame game we remember Gabrielle Giffords and all those that love her.

Charles Joseph "Charlie" Crist, Jr. Wants To Ban Drilling

Charlie Crist is showing his true colors now that he has dropped that bothersome Republican initial after his name.

Fla. governor calls special oil drilling session

Gov. Charlie Crist has called for a special session of the Legislature to permanently ban offshore oil drilling in Florida waters.

Crist on Thursday said the session is called for July 20 to 23.

Crist split with the Republican Party when it became apparent that Marco Rubio was going to shellac his hide. Now Crist is pulling stunts in an attempt to use fear for support as Rubio is once again edging past Crist in the polls.

McChrystal, Obama, Ruffled Feathers And Disaster in Afghanistan

General McChrystal made a huge mistake when he and his staff spoke plainly to a reporter from Rolling Stone. Rich Galen has covered that turf in his usual brilliance, but that is not the point here. The point is the unfolding disaster in Afghanistan and how hurt feelings and, yes, poor judgement might get more soldiers killed than need be and the loss of Afghanistan.

President Obama seems to have less interest in Afghanistan than he displayed in his boring and horrible speech concerning the gulf oil spill. In Afghanistan Obama has flailed and misdirected military and diplomatic efforts aimed at victory. Worse, he has hindered them.

Now we are about to engage in major efforts to pin down and kill the Taliban. Now is not the time to have McChrystal engaged in political bloodletting in Washington even though McChrystal brought it on himself. One doesn't settle scores with a general who has obvious contempt for this administration when it abets our enemy in killing our troops and possibly brings our defeat in Afghanistan.

Congressmen like David Obey and Harry Reid have their panties in a twist, but when don't they? They want to bring this soldier down Truman style. I really don't give a damn what they feel. I do care that both of them and their ilk in Congress don't want our victory in Afghanistan. Or, at least they don't care whether we win or not. They just want the war budget back in their hands to squander at will.

I say fire Obey, Reid and others like them and send McChrystal back to Afghanistan to do his job.

I swear, we take our eyes off that boy for 5 seconds and he just vanishes. At least Mary Jo got all arty at the gallery hop, but Lil' Zack is just plain missing during the Easter break. Mary Jo also got together with Sherrod Brown for what the Columbus Dispatch called a "victory lap" after the health care "reform" vote. Some victory, eh? Plus, that coulda mighta been a real hostile crowd there at gallery hop. Yeah, like there was a danger of raging conservatives cruising for art, looking for that perfect little piece for the nook just outside their guns and money vault at home.

Zack, it seems, did attend a meet and greet in Logan and spoke to a few people, but otherwise most voters haven't a clue where Zack is in the district. Is he even in the district?

So, where is Zack Space?

The Political Cost Of Health Care

Much has been said of the economic cost of health care which, simply put is that we can't afford this bill of entitlements. The political cost may be higher for the Democrats.

They probably have lost the pro-life vote for the foreseeable future. This will cut across many religious groups. It is unfortunate to the nth degree that Nancy Pelosi, allegedly a Catholic, directed this fight.

Many different political groups have been awakened from their slumber. Conservatives that thought their back was covered have rejoined the fray. Republicans who were uncommitted are now energized. Moderate Republicans who do that, "Oh, I just vote for the best candidate," now see in stark terms what that has accomplished. Independents and especially those that weren't interested in politics may not know that the Republican Party is their home, but they well know now that the Democrat Party is not their political home, in fact, it is a bordello to be avoided.

Older Americans are very angry with what the Democrats have done to them financially (and how they were used as bartering chips) and the young voter demographic is now more pro-life and conservative than in recent history.

Working Americans, many of them Blue Collar workers who thought they were voting for hope and change, know that vast amounts of money is being spent and someone will have to pay it back. That it is being spent on health care reform in place of jobs and the economy only compounds their anger.

The most important group affected is that block of voter that smells a rat. They may not have the intense involvement, thus the deep knowledge, of what is in the health care reform bill, but they know it stinks. It stinks the way it was passed, it stinks because they know they were lied to and it stinks because of their common sense which tells them that this whole charade is bull.

Many of this last group will vote Republican in the near future, but others that may have voted Democrat in the past will just fade into the, “they’re all liars,” group of voters.

If I was breaking out the demographic profile for the Democrats I’d be scratching my head a lot, because the historical number crunching method isn’t going to work next time around.

Pelosi Has The Votes

Nancy must, otherwise she wouldn't be announcing that she dropping all the shenanigans and deigning to use a constitutionally sound method. Waxman announced there would be no Deem and Pass, but that it would be an up or down vote. That tells me that they have twisted, broken or threatened enough House arms. The sound of which must have been loud because they seemed to have not heard the 10s of thousands of Tea Party protesters right outside.

Time to vote. The voters will be watching.

Rep. John Boccieri (Voted no on the House bill): He skipped Mr. Obama's event in Ohio even though he was invited by the White House. Check out this article on a plane flying overhead in Canton with a banner that read "Tell Rep. Boccieri no abortion funding."

Rep. Betty Sutton (Voted yes on the House bill): Wants to see the bill. Mr. Obama's event Monday was in her district.

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (Voted yes on the House bill): Concerns with abortion funding and explaining the bill to constituents so they understand what's in it.

Rep. Steve Driehaus (Voted yes on the House bill): Now considered a likely no. Wants stricter abortion language.

Rep. Zack Space (Voted yes on the House bill): Does not like senate bill and wants to see language.

I have little or no faith in the people on this list. They are ignoring their constituents and their staff members in Washington and in the district are disdainful when they answer the phone, which is seldom.

This type of poll is at least two layered in that it plants ideas in the polled persons minds and when the desired result is obtained the poll can then be used a propaganda by the person paying for the poll.

Ann Althouse delves into the veracity of the poll. That is good to do because the Kos poll results are crap. Kos know it, the media knows it and any thinking person knows it, but many will report it as fact. For Kos, a master of media manipulation, it is a win-win. Some will believe while others will be driven to Kos' site.

Poll: Republicans Think Obama Is A Socialist, And Palin More Qualified To Be President

• 39% of Republicans want President Obama to be impeached.

• 63% think Obama is a socialist.

• Only 42% believe Obama was born in the United States.

• 21% think ACORN stole the 2008 election -- that is, that Obama didn't actually win it, and isn't legitimately the president, with 55% saying they are "not sure." This number is actually significantly lower than it was in a similar question from Public Policy Polling (D) back in November, which said that 52% of Republicans thought ACORN stole it. So does this mean Obama is gaining ground among Republicans? As it is, only just over 20% of Republicans will say that Obama actually won the election.

• 53% think Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama to be president.

• 23% want to secede from the United States.

• 73% think gay people should not be allowed to teach in public schools. This position puts the GOP base well to the right of none other than Ronald Reagan, who helped defeat the Briggs Initiative, a 1978 referendum in California that would have forbidden gays or people who advocated gay rights from teaching in public schools.

• 31% want contraception to be outlawed.

I wonder if among those polled by Kos there is a probability of 78% who are po'd at being had or if that 78% is snickering at foisting another lie onto the public. Kos gets how this works and is still expecting a governmental post somewhere. May I suggest at the Ministry of Propaganda.

A tipster tells me that the man who was pushing me outside of a Capitol Hill fundraiser Tuesday night for Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley is Michael Meehan.

Meehan heads up a firm called Blue Line Strategic Communications along with his partner David DiMartino, who was outside the fundraiser with Coakley tonight and introduced himself to me there. The AP reported on Monday that Meehan is also working for Coakley: "The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee also dispatched Michael Meehan, a media consultant with ties to Massachusetts, to assist the Coakley camp with messaging."

It seems that Meehan has worked for a number of candidates that want to make nice with thugs. Maybe that is why he was hired. He obviously understands thuggery.
