Maddow's View From The Curb

Rachael (you do know I am a Rhodes Scholar) Maddow has written a book. Who knew? She uses her rapier wit to belittle all the little men and women that protect our country as foolish and actually against the wishes of our founders who she selectively cites as well as taking quotes out of context. Of course that is so dog bites man.

Specks of War

Leon Wieseltier take on Maddow's book almost made it readable to me. At least his take confirmed mine and made me laugh out loud. Go read it. For you libs, don't worry, he doesn't use too many big words.

Has Rachael been kicked to the curb so often that she now enjoys it?

Left Soils Their Panties Over Dead Taliban

And forces military officials and others to tow the line which means they should check their bloomers as well.

Rep. Allen West defended the US Marines who were filmed urinating on dead Taliban terrorists today.
The Weekly Standard reported:
“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.
“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?…
…“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.

Let’s start reducing White House and Congressional staff instead.

From This Ain't Hell

Troops in Iraq reduction to insignificant presence

Commanders asked to keep 10,000 in Iraq, but again the administration has gone it’s own way, like in the debate over the recovery…the difference is that when this administration makes mistakes in Iraq, it’ll cost lives. I doubt 3,000 personnel in Iraq will even be able to defend themselves.

If it takes 7 people to support one trigger-puller, that leaves less than 500 infantrymen in Iraq. With the resurgence of the Mahdi Army and the continued presence of al Qaeda in Iraq, how will 500 people defend themselves and their support people in Iraq let alone be able to focus on the continuing, main mission?

Let’s start reducing White House and Congressional staff instead.

Is there anything this administration can do? No, not really.

Obviously Biden Can't Keep A Secret So Don't Tell Him Squat

The Pentagon and Robert Gates demanded that the identities of those that killed bin Laden not be revealed so Jabberin' Joe put his mouth in drive before someone could remind him to put his mind in gear. Fool.

Let me briefly acknowledge tonight’s distinguished honorees. Admiral James Stavridis is a, is the real deal. He can tell you more about and understands the incredible, the phenomenal, the just almost unbelievable capacity of his Navy SEALs and what they did last Sunday.

Read the rest. It is sickening.

Troopathon 2011

via Zilla of the Resistance

Please join this effort to remind our nation of what makes us great and, most important now, to support our troops and to let them know we care for them and their vital mission.

Move America Forward has compiled care packages that contain goods our troops need and cannot get -- as a way of saying "thank you" for their sacrifices and courage.
You can show your gratitude by sending one to the troops. Each care package will include a personal message written by you where you can express your gratitude to our military.
Move America Forward is a 501(C)3 so all care package donations are tax deductible.
Contribute here
Once again I am captaining a team of contributors: "The Anti-Jihadists"! If you're a blogger, please join our team! Let's take the big prize for largest contribution amount this year! Joining the competition is easy. Simply e-mail MAF Blogger Danny (danny@moveamericaforward.org) to get placed on a team and obtain the correct link to the care packages.

Try to remember those nights when there was nothing but silence and you started thinking about your life and wondered if there were others that shared your dreams and doubts. Your package can set a soldier's mind at peace and allow him or her to focus on the task at hand. Do it now before you get busy somewhere else.

The History Of Memorial Day

HEADQUARTERS GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC

General Orders No.11, WASHINGTON, D.C., May 5, 1868

  1. The 30th day of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village, and hamlet church-yard in the land. In this observance no form of ceremony is prescribed, but posts and comrades will in their own way arrange such fitting services and testimonials of respect as circumstances may permit.
We are organized, comrades, as our regulations tell us, for the purpose among other things, "of preserving and strengthening those kind and fraternal feelings which have bound together the soldiers, sailors, and marines who united to suppress the late rebellion." What can aid more to assure this result than cherishing tenderly the memory of our heroic dead, who made their breasts a barricade between our country and its foes? Their soldier lives were the reveille of freedom to a race in chains, and their deaths the tattoo of rebellious tyranny in arms. We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance. All that the consecrated wealth and taste of the nation can add to their adornment and security is but a fitting tribute to the memory of her slain defenders. Let no wanton foot tread rudely on such hallowed grounds. Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners. Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic.
If other eyes grow dull, other hands slack, and other hearts cold in the solemn trust, ours shall keep it well as long as the light and warmth of life remain to us.
Let us, then, at the time appointed gather around their sacred remains and garland the passionless mounds above them with the choicest flowers of spring-time; let us raise above them the dear old flag they saved from hishonor; let us in this solemn presence renew our pledges to aid and assist those whom they have left among us a sacred charge upon a nation's gratitude, the soldier's and sailor's widow and orphan.
  2. It is the purpose of the Commander-in-Chief to inaugurate this observance with the hope that it will be kept up from year to year, while a survivor of the war remains to honor the memory of his departed comrades. He earnestly desires the public press to lend its friendly aid in bringing to the notice of comrades in all parts of the country in time for simultaneous compliance therewith.
  3. Department commanders will use efforts to make this order effective.
    By order of
    JOHN A. LOGAN,
    Commander-in-Chief
    N.P. CHIPMAN,
    Adjutant General
    Official:
    WM. T. COLLINS, A.A.G.

The Tea Party Defeated The Dream Act & Will Defeat Those Who Voted For The Repeal Of DADT

Nothing like a progressive president to remind voters what they don't like about government.

Who Killed DREAM? The Tea Party Did

Making illegal immigrants legal just to grow the Democrat base is wrong. Making the military fall in line with business just to pay the base back for their voting and donation support is wrong. The military is not just like other entities. It stands alone in its rules and regulation to do its sole mission well which is to kill and win wars. Homosexual awareness seminars will not further that goal. Placing new guidelines for a newly recognized group within the military for promotion and command will not further that goal.

Obama & Reid Finally Find A Use For The Military

Social engineering.

Congress Passes "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Repeal

Jonn Lilyea said it best, "If only the President was this committed to fighting the war in Afghanistan to a successful conclusion."

The only time these guys (O-man & Reidy) are really full of fight is when it debilitates our military's ability to fight.

I betcha Reid AND Pelosi will kiss and makeup with Obama over the tax vote so they can muscle each other to have their grinning mugs in the middle of the signing photo.

Berkeley Still Keepin' Nukes Out And Traitor Spies In.

Bob's button & baubles
Bob Meola. Bob's quite a guy. He thinks Bradley Manning is a hero and should get a medal. Bob's been pitching crap since the 60s. Bob has been at the forefront to ban Marine recruitment in Berkeley because he doesn't like Marines, he thinks that they kill too much. Bob was at the forefront wanting to investigate and sideline John Yoo for war crimes (Yoo worked in the Bush Administration Department of Justice which offered the wrong type of justice to people such as Meola) who was teaching at Boalt Hall, UC Berkeley.

Berkeley may pass resolution honoring Army private who gave classified docs to Wikileaks

Bob, who like to wear a lot of peace symbols and buttons, now want to honor Bradley Manning who has stated he leaked secret documents to WeakiLeaks. That Bob, what a worn out boring old hippie guy.

Bob Meola is Chairperson of the Berkeley Peace and Justice Commission and a registered Green. He is also a member of the Courage to Resist Organizing Collective, a member of the War Resisters League National Committee, and the Movement for a Democratic Society Organizing Committee.

With responsibilities ranging from recommending City positions on global justice issues to reviewing proposed Sister City relationships to helping enforce the city’s Nuclear Free Berkeley Act, the Commission helps Berkeley stand as a model of thinking Green globally and acting Green locally.”

The Commission’s main function has been to advise the Berkeley City Council and the Berkeley Unified School District on matters of Peace and Justice. The enabling ordinance states that, “‘peace and social justice’ shall refer to the goal of creating a world community in which the relations between people are based on equality, respect for human rights, and the abhorrence of exploitation and all forms of oppression.”

The legislation recognizes that “Individual citizens, unless organized, are virtually powerless in confronting and influencing larger government bodies” and “It is the responsibility of one and all to labor hard for peace and justice within forums of appropriate scale.”

Somewhere in N Korea a frustrated general is once again rerouting nuclear missiles because Bob and friends made Berkeley a nuclear free zone. But Berkeley will have another hero in Bradley Manning who because he had a snit with his boyfriend leaked documents that will hurt the military. That makes Bob very happy.

See Bob run. See Bob play. See Bob helping peaceful Bradley get 1,000s killed in the name of brotherhood!

First, NY Democrats Screwed Soldiers, Now Illinois (Chicago) Democrats

How desperate are Democrats to win? They'll screw soldiers serving overseas protecting them. I'm sure that NY and IL being Blue States has nothing to do with it, eh?

Military ballots may not count in Illinois

Democrats fund the murder of our troops, so just how important do you think they think a soldier's vote is to the nation those soldiers serve.

Maybe VFW-PAC Can Ask Their Endorsees In NY For Soldier Ballots

Since NY seems to be having political fun depriving our soldiers overseas of their right to vote, it's time to see how they did it. They kept it simple, just don't send them ballots!

That way the soldiers can't vote the loser delegation from NY right out of office and it stops troglodytes from taking part in America. Win-win!

I am sure that VFW-PAC is right on this. Like white on snow. Like hypocrisy on hypocrites!

VFW-PAC Screwed The Pooch, Veterans And America

UPDATE: Hot Air has an article up discussing the endorsement of Ma'am Boxer by the VFW-PAC. Boxer hates the military and hates soldiers. Worse than hating them she condescends to them which is an attempt way above her intellectual pay grade. If I was a veteran I wouldn't support her for a position as a latrine sampler.
VFW endorses … Senator Ma’am?

I wrote last Friday about the VFW-PAC and their shameless endorsements of anti-American and anti-veteran candidates here in Ohio. Well, they did it all across the country even endorsing liberals over Republican veterans.

VFW-PAC and NRA Endorse Demos Who Oppose Their Membership

It appears they have really raised a lot of rage across the country and they haven't even offered an apology to veterans.

Burn Those VFW Membership Cards: A Moral Outrage

And Jon Lilyea of This Ain't Hell has a great roundup as always.

VFW-PAC, you suck

Black Five has a good post as well.

Burn your VFW cards; Vote Vets runs VFW - PAC????

In an odd way, VFW_PAC may have done something good in that they have not only highlighted how corrupt our political system has become, but also such good groups as America's veteran groups and this corruption has pointed out just how anti-American some of the candidates they have endorsed. Please pass this on to all that you know.

NPR First In Media To Lie About Beck Rally In DC

Photos: Glenn Beck Rally Has People Seeing Red ‎

NPR - 17 minutes ago

Thousands turned out to hear Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin speak in front of the Lincoln Monument in Washington, DC, on Saturday.

It may actually be that "thousands" listen to NPR coast to coast. There were a tad more than thousands at the "Restoring Honor" rally in DC. 300,000 to 500,000 people turned up in the Federal City for the rally. There are no crowd estimates for those who may or may not be listening to NPR.

Liberal Heads Exploding Over Beck Rally

They're calling it a Nazi rally. Some are saying it is the largest KKK rally in years. The knee slapping crowd is calling it Whitestock. Whatever they are calling it they seem to be really scared of Beck and his rally.

On Twitter the left is full of snark.

Meanwhile at Whitestock or the rally, whatever, an American Indian is giving a medal to a black preacher who attended the Republican MLK rally held there many years ago. The left is angry that such men of color would try to "steal" the heritage of the Civil Rights movement, especially when they speak of Jesus. They left wants Jesus to be a communist and MLK to be agnostic when they want to use them for their political ends.

On other sites leftists question whether Beck will allow God and MLK to be mentioned and then ridicule him when they are not only mentioned, but held in the highest esteem. Others want to have answer to that burning question, are Beck and Palin being paid and if so, how much? The theme is that capitalists can be bought to speak on behalf of anything, unlike any on the left. That the great unwashed rubes of America attending the rally are really what is wrong about America, unlike those on the left. That people that want less government intrusion, less power and less spending are the problem, unlike the left.

This is what makes the left so open to other ideas.

Lib Heaven: Fix The Election AND Screw The Troops

This Ain't Hell has this story and it makes one's blood boil. It isn't enough for Obamatrons to look down on soldiers and talk out both sides of their mouths about honor, duty and sacrifice, now they have improved their ability to deny soldiers the rights of a Democratic Republic even as those soldiers protect it.

Overseas troops to be screwed by largely Blue States

Mr Wolf sent us a link to a story out of Colorado this morning that some states, mostly Democrat-leaning states, are planning to screw absentee voters (read that: active duty soldiers serving overseas) out of their right to have a voice in the government that sends them to war;

Spokesman Rich Coolidge said the ballots will still be mailed, but some soldiers in remote battlefields might not have enough time to mail them back, even though the state will give them an extra seven days after the election. He said they can also send them by e-mail or fax.

Coolidge blamed late primaries and petition deadlines. He said ballots for the Aug. 10 primary also went out under short notice, but the 45-day deadline doesn’t apply to those elections.

Read the rest and follow TAH's link through.

The Cape Cod: The Original Levittown House

A Cape Cod house is a modest symmetrical style that originated in colonial New England and became popular again in the 1930s, '40s and '50s. Today, examples of the Cape Cod style can be seen across the United States. The name was coined by Yale President Timothy Dwight when he traveled through the region in the 1790s, says Architecture Week.

According to the Library of Congress, Cape Cod houses are sometimes also called "Cape-style houses." Originally, Cape Cod houses had just one story and two rooms, situated side-by-side. When the style enjoyed a resurgence in the 20th century, Cape Cod house plans became larger with more rooms. The homes generally have a simple rectangular frame, often clapboarded, with a ridge roof that can allow for attic living, and a large chimney in the center of the roof, directly above the front door.

Cape Cod houses have served their purpose as sturdy, economical dwellings for centuries, says About.com. It is easy to tell the difference, however, between colonial Cape Cod houses and modern ones. Telltale giveaways are any adornments, like shutters and dormers, which are protrusions from the roof.

Then in the late 1940's came the man who understood that American society had been changed by WWII and the men and women who had left home to fight. Out with the old and in with the new and part of the new was a new house which was not shared with parents. Abraham Levitt and his sons, one of whom was serving in the Navy, understood that 16 million men and women were returning and wanted homes. Thus began Levittown. The new town got variances for no basements, no foundations and other time and money saving variances from the old town of Hempstead and were built in an assembly line fashion. Levitt and Sons did things differently, but used quality product, few floor plans and had 1,000 of the 2,000 planned units sold or rented before construction began. Each house was planned to be a starter home which could be modified or added onto later. By the end of 1951 Levitt and Sons had built 17,447 homes in Levittown and the surrounding area. No other private builder had ever achieved such a feat.

Almost every house built there is still standing. Most have been enlarged, modified or changed in some other way. When first built many scoffed at the rubes that had rented (most were originally rented) or bought. Whole new communities of upwardly mobile ex-servicemen sprang up creating huge economic waves. Relatives or the dubious began to scoff less and look more at the neighborhoods of cute and well maintained "cottages", many moved to the new neighborhoods continuing to make the houses more valuable.

Today, as in all towns, there are nicer areas of town, but overall Levittown is a close knit community where neighbors know and take care of each other. Some additions were poorly thought out, but most were done very well for newer tastes and growing families. Currently, Levittown is once again going though changes utilizing new design techniques and new building technology. If for no other reason one should visit during the Christmas season where you will see displays that are unbelievable. Last year there were groups of carolers that roamed neighborhoods, especially to visit with the house bound, sick or just alone. The carolers knew which houses needed a little extra love. That's a neighborhood.

Obama Afghan Policy
