I read this on Pundit & Pundette and it speaks for itself.

"We can't escape the fact that we control only 2% of the world's oil." This is a common refrain among anti-drilling Democrats and environmentalists, and it's repeated enough that many people accept it as true. In reality, it's 100% false. The number comes from a highly conservative estimate from the Energy Information Administration totaling America's proven reserves where we are already drilling. It does not include the 10 billion barrels available in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. It does not include most of the 86 billion barrels available offshore in the Outer Continental Shelf, most of which President Obama has placed under an executive drilling ban. And it does not include the 800 billion barrels of oil we have locked in shale in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. Those shale resources alone are actually three times larger than the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia, so the claim that the U.S. only has 2% of the world's oil is clearly false.

Just as they have been doing to the health care industry these groups have emplaced rules, regulations and legislation to make citizens suffer financially for their energy wants and needs so that citizens will see no other way out, but to bow to the dictates of the government. That is not freedom, but tyranny. It is tyranny no matter how benevolent the tyranny believes itself to be. And health care reform, Cap and Trade and the energy crisis are just the beginning.

The paper just released by Tadeusz Patzek at The University of Texas at Austin and Gregory Croft at the University of California, Berkeley is limited to looking at production from existing coal fields and mines, which is expected to start declining after 2011. Of course, this is only a problem if no new coal production is started, something that is not expected for many decades to come.

There are approximately 174,000 blue-collar, full-time, permanent jobs related to coal in the U.S.: mining (83,000), transportation (31,000), and power plant employment (60,000). (See below for details on each sector.) The U.S. civilian labor force totaled 141,730,000 workers in 2005; thus, permanent blue-collar coal industry employees represent 0.12% of the U.S. workforce.[1] (Compare this percentage with the 1.89% of U.S. workers who worked in coal mining alone in 1920.)

This total does not include indirect employment - workers who are not directly employed in the coal industry, but whose jobs are supported by that industry. It is entirely possible that thousands - even tens of thousands - of workers are indirectly supported entirely by the coal industry. However, the National Coal Association's 1994 estimate that the coal industry directly and indirectly employs around 1.5 million people[2] seems exaggerated. The level of indirect employment is in the low hundreds of thousands - not in the millions.

The energy required to air-condition American homes and retail spaces has doubled since the early 1990s. Turning buildings into refrigerators burns fossil fuels, which emits greenhouse gases, which raises global temperatures, which creates a need for -- you guessed it -- more air-conditioning.

A.C.'s obvious public-health benefits during severe heat waves do not justify its lavish use in everyday life for months on end. Less than half a century ago, America thrived with only the spottiest use of air conditioning. It could again. While central air will always be needed in facilities such as hospitals, archives and cooling centers for those who are vulnerable to heat, what would an otherwise A.C.-free Washington look like?

Yeah, with no air conditioning cries of "drill baby drill" will be replaced by "burn baby burn." Think of the politics of unintended consequences.

Yep, let's create millions of new jobs with millions (and millions and millions) of tax payer money and then give them to unions and low income and minority communities, then reduce the work week to 35 hours so we can establish even more federally funded green programs. Uh, it ain't working anywhere it has been tried.
 
A candidate that puts forth this platform will not be in danger of getting elected because a candidate is supposed to suggest the boondoggle after they're elected not before.

I got this information from Blackfive and I strongly suggest you go and read what Blackfive writes. Few times do I look forward to current books written about the military and even fewer times do I look forward to current films about the military because they are many things, but not really about the military and what soldiers really stand for. Both the book War and the film Restrepo are ones that I will search out.

I am leaving in a minute to first find the book.

Why Not Ohio? Low-Carbon Mass Transportation Not Wanted

Those that love big government live big government solutions the people do not want. Case in point, Low-Carbon Mass Transit which is a fancy version of saying mass transit.

Buses, trains, trolleys, subways, light rail and other versions are used in densely populated areas for rush hours twice a day and run empty the rest of hours in service and sit idle nights. Most Americans do not live in densely populated areas such as urban environs, but in smaller cities, towns, villages and suburbs. It is the suburbs that really ticks of the progressives, especially the inhabitants independence.

These people calling for mass transportation desire the demise of the automobile and if it irks those pesky Americans who do not share their vision  it makes the idea more attractive. That big government elitists get sniffy when their lessors don't agree only makes them scream things like "global warming", "save the environment" and "low-carbon mass transportation" as scare tactics.

They have two problems: first, they've screamed this nonsense for so long that nobody believes them any more and secondly, people don't want to be dictated to and they will not give up their independence. Actually, there is one more problem in that the visionaries will scream, "but they must!" which make people reply, "screw off." Not a learning moment of dialogue.

Personally, I love trains. I have ever since I first rode on a train as a child. I hate what government has done to trains through union boosting legislation, their dreadful train designs and and their complete mismanagement of Amtrak. Just like Amtrak, health care, corporate take overs and other invasions of private lives and business, the government will screw things up. If you put the government of charge of the Gobi desert there will be a sand shortage within months. The bigger the bureaucracy the less efficient it is and our government (re)proves it with each new day.

Why not Ohio? Because we hate mediocrity, bad service, high prices and the loss of our independence. In short, we hate bureaucracies, their supporters and their attitude. Leave us alone. Please.

This "hearing" is nothing more than a push to a new "energy policy" with cap and trade included which, when combined is nothing more than a progressive attempt to grab more power and money from citizens. Using Waxman as the lead speaker is, well, dubious. Waxman couldn't convince a pig to wallow in mud, but he would pass legislation to make the pig do so. After berating the pig's ignorance and the need to intervene.

Our bike trail is extremely busy with approx 15 riders a day and possibly 30-50 riders on weekends that can whisk their way to nowhere past beautiful statues made especially for the path. I think that's worth a couple hundred million.

The US Senate's Constitution Change Showdown

In the name of Mother Gaia or, more likely, trying to keep the loony left in line, the Obama Administration and his fellow thinkers in Congress want to subvert the US Constitution and give illegal power to an agency of the federal government. That the ruling given to EPA is patently foolish as well as an economic destroyer is besides the point. The EPA should not have this power nor should Congress abrogate their duties, but in the name of feel-good politics and not wanting to embarrass President Obama and themselves they are trying to stop the legislation cited below.

Climate change showdown

The president is threatening to veto a resolution from Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) that would ban the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating carbon emissions.

But if the president were forced to use his veto to prevent legislation emerging from a Congress in which his own party enjoys substantial majorities, it would be a humiliation for him and for Democrats on Capitol Hill.
 
So Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) and other Democratic leaders are doing what they can to stop it.

Every senator that votes against this bill should be voted out of office at the first opportunity. No one can balance a questionable idea such as global warming or whatever the fools are calling it now by destroying the balance of power within our government structure.
