Andrew Wyeth Passes At Age 91

Farewells
PHILADELPHIA—American painter Andrew Wyeth died in his sleep on January 16 at the age of 91, reports Bloomberg. Wyeth was among the country's most celebrated living artists, although his realist, figurative paintings of rural life in Pennsylvania and Maine split critical opinion at a time when Abstract Expressionism was at the fore. Wyeth had his first solo gallery exhibition at William Macbeth Gallery in New York in 1937; he went on to have solo shows at museums around the country and the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where his 1976–77 exhibition was the institution's first devoted to a living artist. He painted his most famous work, Christina's World, in 1948; the picture was purchased by the Museum of Modern Art for $1,800 the same year. He was honored by Presidents Kennedy, Nixon, and George W. Bush.
As an art student years ago we began many painting classes with photo-realism. A form of high class paint-by-numbers in which the painter does a transparent graph over of a photograph and a corresponding graph on a prepared canvas to transfer the photographic image to a painted surface using the two graphs as guidelines. I felt like a middle-man in a bad transaction, so I became the school's first photography major which saved me from the painting-by-numbers technique as well as the horror of later classes in modern art painting classes. But I continued to paint on my own.
Pouring over books about the great painters, both historic and current, I rediscovered Andrew Wyeth and his artistic family including his father, N. C. Wyeth, who had filled my head and soul with his illustrations that accompanied my favorite childhood books such as The Yearling, Treasure Island, Last of the Mohicans and Robin Hood. This research allowed me to learn their techniques to incorporate in my own painting. Once discovered by my professors, my paintings led to many lectures about painters such as Andrew Wyeth being anti-art, anti-artist and various phrases that boiled down to painters of that ilk being bourgeois. Professors and critics ridiculed them as mere illustrators, not serious artists such as Kandinsky or Rothko or the great Marcel Duchamp.
A short time ago, for no known reason, I spontaneously purchased paints and brushes and began to paint again for my own reasons. I will miss the "time" I spent with Andrew Wyeth when I studied late into evenings his techniques and thought patterns, but mostly his love of history, nature and the interpersonal relationship between art and life.

Waxman Pushes Global Warming Voodoo Legislation

Waxman promises quick action on climate
The chairman of a key House committee said Thursday he will move "quickly and decisively" to push legislation curbing greenhouse gases with a goal of passing climate legislation out of his committee before Memorial Day.

Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., opening the new Congress' first hearing on the threats from global warming, said inaction on the climate issue is causing uncertainties that make it more difficult to emerge from the recession.

"Our environment and our economy depend on congressional action to confront the threat of climate change and secure our energy independence," said Waxman. "U.S. industries want to invest in a clean energy future, but uncertainties about whether, when and how
greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced is deterring these vital investments."
Personally, I'd be happier if Henri could make it a little warmer than -20 here. It's funny how temperature fluctuations have a pattern. It's funnier that people like Waxman don't seem to notice the temperature. Must be that bubble Reps live in that keeps him warm.

Even In Victory Newsweek's Bush Hatred Apparent

After doing everything in their power, as part of the fifth column, to get Obama elected, including omission of facts, silence and full blown support, Newsweek still feels the need to portray President Bush and Vice President Cheney in the most negative light.

Obama’s Cheney Dilemma
Dick Cheney, who will step down as vice president on Jan. 20, has been widely portrayed as a creature of the dark side, a monstrous figure who trampled on the Constitution to wage war against all foes, real and imagined. Barack Obama was elected partly to cleanse the temple of the Bush-Cheney stain, and in his campaign speeches he promised to reverse Cheney's efforts to seize power for the White House in the war on terror.

No image of a dark monster who imagines enemies attempting to take his power so he tramples on laws and rights leaving a stain on the national psyche in that story. And that is just the first paragraph!

Dick Cheney:
creature of the dark side
a monstrous figure
who trampled on the Constitution
to wage war against all foes
real and imagined
Bush-Cheney stain
to seize power

Barack Obama:
cleanse the temple
reverse Cheney's

Newsweek, at the same time, gives the image of a messiah who is coming to cleanse the temple by reversing the dark monstrously delusional Cheney. Darkness and light in an interesting reversal of real and projected imagery. It's great for writing 101, but it truly juvenile for a reporter writing for and edited by a magazine such as Newsweek.

In fact, I think the whole Bush Derangement Syndrome is juvenile. In their stated goal of bringing civility and peace back to the United States, the left has acted like little babies stomping their feet while calling people the worst names they can think of, as they parade around in costume while chanting vulgarities and hate in unison as if the teacher won't punish them because there is safety in numbers.

We have some serious and dangerous times ahead. Time to grow up.

King Obama Spending $159m On Coronation, But Libs Mum

When President George Bush was inaugurated for the second time the lefties went wild. They ranted endlessly about the $40 million cost as seen below.

They don't seem too upset about Obama's inauguration cost which is reportedly $159,884,933.24 (Daily Mail - UK). I mean, just think how many pounds of pot that could buy, how many protests it could fund, how many trips to Cuba or Venezuela it could pay for or just think how many solar panels like Al 'Boom-Boom' Gore has on his roof that could be purchased? Of course those solar panels wouldn't be doing squat here in Ohio as the snow and the temperature continue to fall in this coldest winter in years.

I'm not sure just how much this second coming should cost, but the real one won't cost zip.

Shameful Inaugural Excess - the Recoronation of King George II
posted by The Liberal Avenger @ 1:03 AM

George Bush responded to criticism that the inauguration was excessive in light of the war and the tsunami by calling it a "celebration of Democracy." At least two previous Democratic presidents were able to keep it in their pants for their inaugurations in trying times (see FDR and Carter's entries below). The Progress Report has assembled a list of inauguration facts and figures "by the numbers":

$40 million: Cost of Bush inaugural ball festivities, not counting security costs.
$2,000: Amount FDR spent on the inaugural in 1945…about $20,000 in today's dollars.
$20,000: Cost of yellow roses purchased for inaugural festivities by D.C.'s Ritz Carlton.
200: Number of Humvees outfitted with top-of-the-line armor for troops in Iraq that could have been purchased with the amount of money blown on the inauguration.
$10,000: Price of an inaugural package at the Fairmont Hotel, which includes a Beluga caviar and Dom Perignon reception, a chauffeured Rolls Royce and two actors posing as "faux" Secret Service agents, complete with black sunglasses and cufflink walkie-talkies.
400: Pounds of lobster provided for "inaugural feeding frenzy" at the exclusive Mandarin Oriental hotel.
3,000: Number of "Laura Bush Cowboy cookies" provided for "inaugural feeding frenzy" at the Mandarin hotel.
$1: Amount per guest President Carter spent on snacks for guests at his inaugural parties. To stick to a tight budget, he served pretzels, peanuts, crackers and cheese and had cash bars.
22 million: Number of children in regions devastated by the tsunami who could have received vaccinations and preventive health care with the amount of money spent on the inauguration. 1,160,000: Number of girls who could be sent to school for a year in Afghanistan with the amount of money lavished on the inauguration.
$15,000: The down payment to rent a fur coat paid by one gala attendee who didn't want the hassle of schlepping her own through the airport.
$200,500: Price of a room package at D.C.'s Mandarin Oriental, including presidential suite, chauffeured Mercedes limo and outfits from Neiman Marcus.
2,500: Number of U.S. troops used to stand guard as President Bush takes his oath of office
26,000: Number of Kevlar vests for U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that could be purchased for $40 million.
$290: Bonus that could go to each American solider serving in Iraq, if inauguration funds were used for that purpose.
$6.3 million: Amount contributed by the finance and investment industry, which works out to be 25 percent of all the money collected.
$17 million: Amount of money the White House is forcing the cash-strapped city of Washington, D.C., to pony up for inauguration security.
9: Percentage of D.C. residents who voted for Bush in 2004.
66: Percentage of Americans who think this over-the-top inauguration should have been scaled back.

What will you be doing while King George II is getting recoronated?

An Evangelist, A Gay Bishop & A Black's Inauguration

A reason why I left the Episcopal Church. Now the hypocrisy of the church will be on full view for the world to see.
Wishing to be on both sides of an issue usually means one is on neither, but then we are speaking of a politician who has made an art of speaking out of both sides of his mouth when he is forced to speak more than platitudes.
President-elect Barack Obama, facing criticism from gay rights advocates for picking an evangelical pastor who helped overturn same-sex marriage in California to deliver the invocation at his inauguration, has chosen the openly gay Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire to offer a prayer at a pre-inauguration event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
Obama's choice, announced yesterday, of Bishop V. Gene Robinson to deliver the invocation at a star-studded inaugural celebration Sunday evening was immediately greeted with praise by gay rights advocates, who had been irate over the invitation to Rick Warren, one of the nation's most prominent evangelicals. Among the critics had been Robinson, an early Obama supporter who said yesterday he is now hoping that he will be able to sit down with Warren before either of them gives his opening invocation next week.
With all of his flip flops, before he has even taken the oath, I hope the "O" has a quality back brace. He'll need one. We'll need one too.

Global Warming Hoax Has Socialist Leader Working For Obama

Obama climate czar has socialist ties
Until last week, Carol M. Browner, President-elect Barack Obama's pick as global warming czar, was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for "global governance" and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.

By Thursday, Mrs. Browner's name and biography had been removed from Socialist International's Web page, though a photo of her speaking June 30 to the group's congress in Greece was still available.

Socialist International, an umbrella group for many of the world's social democratic political parties such as Britain's Labor Party, says it supports socialism and is harshly critical of U.S. policies.

The group's Commission for a Sustainable World Society, the organization's action arm on climate change, says the developed world must reduce consumption and commit to binding and punitive limits on greenhouse gas emissions.

Mr. Obama, who has said action on climate change would be a priority in his administration, tapped Mrs. Browner last month to fill a new position as White House coordinator of climate and energy policies. The appointment does not need Senate confirmation.

Mr. Obama's transition team said Mrs. Browner's membership in the organization is not a problem and that it brings experience in U.S. policymaking to her new role.
Mix billions of dollars with a global agenda of controlling business and people and that is what the global warming nonsense is really about. It's too bad Obama didn't appoint Gore as official rainmaker for his brave new world because Gore is a transparent huckster, but at least he is not a true socialist. He loves money more than climate and global warming is just his sugar daddy.
Browning is a true socialist and will further her agenda through the human caused global warming hoax. To Browning, it matters not whether it is true or not, it is simply a vehicle for her. A vehicle that will cripple America.

Reid Franken: Senator Smarm Endorses Senator Smut

Harry Reid continues to decide, in place of state voters, who will serve in his Praetorian Guard senate.

Reid: Coleman will "never ever serve"
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid offered the toughest language he has ever used in arguing that Norm Coleman’s career in the Senate is finished.

“Norm Coleman will never ever serve [again] in the Senate,” Reid told Politico’s Manu Raju. “He lost the election. He can stall things, but he'll never serve in the Senate.”

This good Mormon who stated, "I think it is much easier to be a good member of the Church and a Democrat than a good member of the Church and a Republican" , now wants the Franken and his fictional "Minnesota Institute of Titology" and sixth-grade reports on bestiality to be seated in the senate. Reid would seat Satan to gain votes.

The Mormon Church should be proud as Minnesota.

Democrats Wish To Codify Union Thuggery Into Law

The private ballot is an almost sacred right of Americans.

Unions, in an attempt to regain their dwindling power to crush business into submission, want 'card check' passed into law by the Democrat controlled congress. They expect the passage of card check as payola for all the work, money and corruption they have used to elect Democrats nationwide. Card check will legislate the private ballot as illegal. Card check will give unions the right and the power to intimidate workers in nonunion shops into becoming union members.

Reid made it apparent that the Democrats fully intend to pay the unions for their political work.

Reid: ‘I don’t work for Obama’

Reid declined to speculate as to when the controversial, union-backed “card-check” legislation will pass the upper chamber. Yet he said the bill is important to him and Obama.

“The union movement was hurt very, very badly in the Bush administration, and we are going to reverse that.”

Reid said he is interested in working with Republicans on card-check.
“But remember,” Reid said with a smile, “we think we only need two Republican votes.”

Even old liberal warhorse George McGovern knows Card check is un-American.

The control unions have on the Democrat Party will be writ large not only with the payback to the unions by the passage of card check, but by also imposing government bureaucrats, who are unionized, as those determining company contracts with workers during arbitration.

Card check will allow unions to beat nonunion workers and companies into submission and then force those companies into contracts written by union arbitrators and enforced by a congress owned by unions.

Of course Harry Reid doesn't work for Obama, he works for the unions.

Obama's Under The Bus Gang Grows

Maybe having Bobby Rush doing the vetting wasn't such a good idea after all, but, alas, all is well. Just throw him under the bus with granny and the others.

Aides to both men insisted Richardson made the decision to withdraw and was not pushed out by Obama. But one Democrat involved in discussions over the matter said transition officials became increasingly nervous during the last couple of weeks that the investigation could become an embarrassment to Obama, who ran on a clean government pledge.

Obama is going to need a four wheel drive bus jus to get over the bodies.

Harry Reid: If You Can't Lie No Better

You might as well tell the truth, as Delbert says....

Incredulous is a word that came to mind as I watched David Gregory interview Harry Reid on Sunday's "Meet the Press."

Reid did his normal interview shtick which is his 'every body's wrong cept'in me' shuffle, lied about pretty much everything and then lied about when he had lied. As always, Reid did it in a quiet and soft spoken voice smiling like an undertaker at a funeral who has just screwed the family of the deceased.

But, hey, that's our Senate majority leader, Hapless Harry Reid.

There was a jaw dropper when David Gregory asked some tough questions of Reid which Reid answered with no answer except to ask us to look to history and for us to believe that he, Reid, was as brilliant as Petraeus and responsible as President Bush when Iraq turned around to the good which wasn't all that good because it didn't happen, but what did happen isn't so bad because I am as brilliant as Petraeus even though the the surge didn't work and Iraq is really still lost.

But, hey, that's our Senate majority leader, Hapless Harry Reid.

MR. GREGORY: You said that the war is lost. Today, in 2009, that's no longer your view?
SEN. REID: David, listen, someone else will have to determine that as the years go on. What has the war done? It's brought about--it's destabilized the Middle East. We have a civil war going on in Israel. We have a civil war in Iraq, as indicated today, more than 50 people killed with a bomb in Iraq today. We have Lebanon, a civil war there. We have Iran thumbing their nose with every, everyone. And if that weren't bad enough, our standing in the world community is so far down as a result of this war, so--and that doesn't take into consideration the tens of thousands who have been injured...
MR. GREGORY: Mm-hmm.

A civil war in Israel? Yeah, right Harry.

A civil war in Iraq? A civil war which is funded and largely fought by outsiders?

A civil war in Lebanon? Uh, still partying like it's 1990 Harry?

Iran thumbing their nose at every, everyone? Really? I thought that other famous pugilist, Jimmy Carter, took care of that on January 20, 1981.

Our standing in the world is so far down? Yeah, it sucks that the Fidel Castros and the Baby Huey Chavezs of the world don't like us, but you and the Nancy, working with the "O", will rectify that in a jiffy, eh.

Holdin' up that alibi that's tissue paper thin
Diggin' down deeper and deeper
In that hole you're already in

If you can't lie no better
If you can't lie no better
If you can't lie no better than that,
You might as well tell the truth

Fox Begs Eggs From Hen: A New Year/Old Media

The press prides itself for taking down bad government with dramatic stories in which intrepid reporters dig out and take the bad eggs down from the halls of our three branches. Now the media is lining up for handouts from those they are supposed to watch. If they succeed, it will be a win-win for the press as they move from being the fifth column to becoming the fourth branch of government. Department of Information, I guess. No guessing to whom they will be beholding to.

Government aid could save U.S. newspapers, spark debate

Moving from fox to full time blue hen for the bureaucracy shouldn't be that much of a stretch for the ink barrel bunch. Except they can no longer afford to buy ink by the barrel. That's why they're willing to sleep with the chickens to get free inked eggs for public dissemination courtesy of our friendly, can't be fired, union bureaucrats of the federal government. That'll be a cold bed.

A tamed and neutered fox is still a fox, but would be better still as a decoration collar piece. Wait, that's what they've become, decoration.

Church Of England Completes Scrip For Scripture Trade

Church of England puts its faith in Al Gore's investment arm
The Church of England’s Church Commissioners have gone green, investing £150 million with former US Vice-President Al Gore’s environmentally minded investment firm, Generation Investment Management.

Al Gore, the new Archbishop of Ranterbury and Dr Rowan Williams will both wear green burqas as they sit in one of the palaces and count their money.

The Money Changers
Jesus referred to the Temple as the "House of God" and called it a "House of Prayer," not just for the Jews, but for all nations. When Jesus arrived with the mass of pilgrims, He overturned the tables and called it a den of thieves and a house of merchandise. The Temple was in some sense the national bank. It was a great public treasury with vaults containing immense stores of private wealth. These deposits never sat idle, but were loaned at high rates of interest.

Being fashionable is just easier, I guess. That whole Bible thing is so confusing.

McClatchy Too Stupid To Be In The News Business

The fact that McClatchy publishing doesn't get that they lie, or at best editorialize the facts and the news they report is a good indicator of why they are going out of business.

The fact that they do not understand the shoe tossing incident instigated by Muntather Zaidi's bosses in Iran indicates they should be selling used shoes, not acting like a five year old playing at reporting the day's events.

McClatchy Employees Cheer Iraqi Shoe Tosser as Stock Plunges 99%
I applauded this act. I don't care that it is rude. Why are we concerned about etiquette when a country was destroyed? Did Bush ever apologize to the Iraqis for the hundreds of thousands of dead? Bush is an occupier, a clown pretending to be a hero, so enclosed in his own little self-certain world he probably was surprised an Iraqi could be that angry. I am not surprised. I am only surprised such a thing did not happen earlier.

In reading over the stories and blogs supporting Muntather Zaidi I am reminded of stories from the past giving support for the insane to run the asylum. As for the Bush hatred that these people have been able to foment within themselves, I can only feel sorrow for the blinders they have placed between themselves and the truth.

Reason 666 Why Congress Is Too Stupid To Be In Business

The auto bailout Democrat congressional payola for union support will probably be used to support the UAW's Black Lakes Golf Club which has lost over $23 million in just the last five years.

Autoworkers Union Keeps $6 Million Golf Course for Members at $33 Million Lakeside Retreat
Even as the industry struggles with massive losses, the UAW brass continue to own and operate a $33 million lakeside retreat in Michigan, complete with a $6.4 million designer golf course. And it's costing them millions each year.

The UAW, known more for its strikes than its slices, hosts seminars and junkets at the Walter and May Reuther Family Education Center in Onaway, Mich., which is nestled on "1,000 heavily forested acres" on Michigan's Black Lake, according to its Web site.

But the Black Lake club and retreat, which are among the union's biggest fixed assets, have lost $23 million in the past five years alone, a heavy albatross around the union's neck as it tries to manage a multibillion-dollar pension plan crisis.
Critics call it a resort for union leaders that wastes money from union dues.

An aerial view of the Black Lakes Golf Club, a $6 million golf course owned and operated by the United Auto Workers.

Together, unions and congress should be able to bankrupt American industry.

George W Bush: winning the war on terror
"The decision by Bush, with Blair's support, to sweep the Taliban out of Afghanistan was a brilliant move, one that not all U.S. presidents would have taken. A weaker leader would have gone to the United Nations Security Council and sought a negotiated settlement with Kabul."

BTW, Merry Christmas Late!

I have been on a whirlwind family Christmas tour of Long Island, Manhattan, Connecticut and other places while being in contact with family in Maine, North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Arizona, California, West Virginia and Ohio.

I have been stuffed with love and food. Christmas Eve once again found us having seven fish from the seven seas for good luck and Christmas throughout seven courses with a mere 27 family members.

Tomorrow we are blessed to celebrate my father-in-law's 75 birthday. In planning we spent the evening tonight looking at 75 years of memories stretching from Vasto, Italy to the Bronx to Long Island spanning untold generations and memories.

I am a lucky man for so many reasons and I have not had the chance to thank so many of you for your good thoughts and good feelings. I have been remiss in this and I do apologize.

Merry Christmas to all of you because the season lives on in our hearts beyond these few days.

For that we are truly blessed.

Nixon Review Clears Staff In Watergate Probe

Chicago plumber's union ecstatic over findings.

Obama review clears staff in Blagojevich probe
President-elect Barack Obama and a top aide have been interviewed by prosecutors investigating Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, but an internal report released on Tuesday cleared them of any wrongdoing.
...

The report said Jarrett and strategist David Axelrod did not have any contact with Blagojevich or his office, while Dr. Eric Whitaker, an Obama family friend who was not a member of the transition team, was approached and asked for information by a member of the governor's circle -- unbeknownst to top Obama aides.

"No one in the Obama circle was aware of what was going on in the governor's office or in the governor's mind until such time as he was arrested," Craig said.

I know that this changes my mind! But then, I've always been a GoBama type of guy thus when I finally get my title to the Brooklyn Bridge via mail I am only going to make rich people pay tolls.

Christmas Lights Mean Coal In Your Stocking

I know, he's just saying...

Scientists warn Christmas lights harm the planet

SCIENTISTS have warned that Christmas lights are bad for the planet due to huge electricity waste and urged people to get energy efficient festive bulbs.
CSIRO researchers said householders should know that each bulb turned on in the name of Christmas will increase emissions of greenhouse gases.

Dr Glenn Platt, who leads research on energy demand, said Australia got 80 per cent of its electricity by burning coal which pumps harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

He said: "Energy efficient bulbs, such as LEDs, and putting your Christmas lights on a timer are two very easy ways to minimise the amount of electricity you use to power your lights."

He said the nation's electricity came from "centralised carbon intensive, coal-based power stations" which were responsible for emitting over one third of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions.

Dr Platt added: "For a zero-emission Christmas light show, you may consider using solar powered lights or sourcing your electricity from verified green power suppliers.

Merry Christmas Dr Platt. May the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, of which you are employed, enjoy the season and you government funding. Now, shut up and allow the rest of us to enjoy celebrating the birth of Christ.

Obama Court Jester, "Blago The Fool", To Bite Back

As the cast of Obama's new musical comedy "Just Guys In The Neighborhood" continues to grow, his friend Blago The Fool is attempting a backstage coup to take the lead role.

Blagojevich strikes back
Disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich joked and jogged in his Chicago neighborhood Wednesday and vowed to tell his side of the story soon, while his attorney tore into impeachment-minded state lawmakers trying to force the governor out of a job.
...

Outside the governor's home on Chicago's Northwest Side, Blagojevich promised a very public re-emergence soon.

"I can't wait to begin to tell my side of the story and to address you guys and most importantly the people of Illinois, that's who I'm dying to talk to," Blagojevich said before heading out for a morning jog. "There's a time and place for everything. That day will soon be here."

A Tribune photographer later spotted Blagojevich jogging, and the governor said he runs for exercise, to clear his head and because "it keeps love in your heart."

After turning down offers to be a vice presidential candidate and the Pope of Chicago, Blago sees his future as a singer as his most advantageous and profitable avenue.

Cast members already named are:

Jeremiah Wright as the delightful Vicar of Venom
Tony Rezko in a dual role as the Bagman and the Singing Realtor

Land Speed Record

The First Land Speed Record
Source: Photo Courtesy of Thrust SCC Programme LTD.(9/15/2005)

On December 18th, 1898 Count Gaston de Chasseloup-Laubat (the "Electric Count") set the world's first official land-speed record near Paris. The new record was set in his electric Jeantaud automobile at a hair-raising speed of 39.245mph (62.8 kph). The car employed a single electric motor and alkaline batteries. Many historians regard the Jeantaud to be the first automobile to be steered by a modern steering wheel instead of a tiller.

Whatever the case, the Jeantaud remains and will always be the first automobile to set an official land speed record.

Unfortunately for our "Electric Count," the record would last just a few days before it would fall to a faster electric vehicle.

Chicago Stink Becomes Potomac Poison

History Problem? Erase It!
We know the drill by now. Blago was a friend and a compatriot who Obama helped get elected and had deep discussions with. Now that Blago the Fool has gone public, Obama hardly knew him. He was just a guy in the neighborhood.

It seems all of Obama's neighbors are hoods.

Boston Tea Party

The Boston Tea Party, 1773
(George Hewes was a member of the band of "Indians" that boarded the tea ships that evening.)
When we arrived at the wharf, there were three of our number who assumed an authority to direct our operations, to which we readily submitted. They divided us into three parties, for the purpose of boarding the three ships which contained the tea at the same time. The name of him who commanded the division to which I was assigned was Leonard Pitt. The names of the other commanders I never knew. We were immediately ordered by the respective commanders to board all the ships at the same time, which we promptly obeyed. The commander of the division to which I belonged, as soon as we were on board the ship, appointed me boatswain, and ordered me to go to the captain and demand of him the keys to the hatches and a dozen candles. I made the demand accordingly, and the captain promptly replied, and delivered the articles; but requested me at the same time to do no damage to the ship or rigging. We then were ordered by our commander to open the hatches and take out all the chests of tea and throw them overboard, and we immediately proceeded to execute his orders, first cutting and splitting the chests with our tomahawks, so as thoroughly to expose them to the effects of the water.

In about three hours from the time we went on board, we had thus broken and thrown overboard every tea chest to be found in the ship, while those in the other ships were disposing of the tea in the same way, at the same time. We were surrounded by British armed ships, but no attempt was made to resist us.

...The next morning, after we had cleared the ships of the tea, it was discovered that very considerable quantities of it were floating upon the surface of the water; and to prevent the possibility of any of its being saved for use, a number of small boats were manned by sailors and citizens, who rowed them into those parts of the harbor wherever the tea was visible, and by beating it with oars and paddles so thoroughly drenched it as to render its entire destruction inevitable."

Victory In Iraq: Muntazer al-Zaidi Is The Proof

Muntazer al-Zaidi hates America. His network hates America. Both are rabid.

Muntazer al-Zaidi chucked his shoes at President Bush because showing one's soles or hitting with a shoe is a great insult. Of course these insults come from a culture that has uncles raping nieces and the nieces getting stoned to death for have sex.

Things have certainly improved in Iraq to the point that a budding democracy will be a thorn in the sides of Islamofascist nuts for years to come. If Obama doesn't snatch victory away from us.

Muntazer al-Zaidi is the proof that we have won in Iraq. He is still alive.

Under the previous Michael Moore's lovefest government Muntazer al-Zaidi would already be showing a size 45 caliber hole in his head. His family would be river bottom inspectors and anyone that knew him would be hiding as far under ground as possible, say about 6 feet.

So, thank you Muntazer al-Zaidi. Now slither back into your spider hole.

Immigration - 1820 To 2007

This is an interesting look at immigration into America.

It would be very cool if there was an illegal alien breakout map. Maybe there is. I'll look.

Democrats Stealing Vote For The Clown Franken

I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you.

Al Franken gets boosts in Minn. Senate recount
"It would be unjust and disrespectful to those voters not to count those votes," said Judge Edward Cleary, one of four who sit with Democratic Secretary of State Mark Ritchie on the state board.

The board acted after receiving a legal opinion from the office of Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson, a Democrat, that the missing absentee ballots should be counted.

If this fails, I am sure they can start counting more based on how they think voters intended to vote. If the voters were still alive.

The Definition Of Is Is? Lies Part II

Via Hot Air

Billy Bubba Clinton set the tone with his famous "is" question/statement. Obama is following up with "contact" being something other than contact with Blagojevich about selling Obama's senate seat.

Both cases have created a stain and somebody has to go under the bus!

Barney Frank: Auto Bailout A Lie

The intervention by the government that shouldn't be is not what it shouldn't be. Really. At least Barney is honest about being dishonest.

This bailout is payola for the thug foots of the Democrat Party, the unions.

Barney Frank On Auto Bailouts
"No. We’re not propping up companies. That’s your mistake," he tells Stahl, who had asked him about taxpayer money going to prop up companies that had made bad decisions. "We’re propping up individuals. The world doesn't consist of companies. The world is people. The country is people."

When Stahl points out that Frank is then talking about welfare, he responds, "Yeah, I’m for welfare. You’re not? Are you for letting people starve?"

Now maybe someone will be honest and admit that "card check" is not about fairness, but about taking away private ballots so the unions know which voters to threaten and bully when unions are rejected by workers.

USA Corruption By State Conviction Rates

USA has a great tool to find out corruption in your state.

In the story they state that North Dakota is the most corrupt, but it is based on a formula of per 100,000 population and doesn't really address how adept and aggressive the state is in rooting out corruption

Below is Illinois and Ohio and surrounding states

Ohio - 547 convictions
Illinois - 502 convictions
Indiana - 123 convictions
Michigan - 215 convictions
Pennsylvania - 555 convictions
Kentucky - 242 convictions
West Virginia - 74 convictions

Michigan and West Virginia seem kinda low, but it is interesting that Ohio has more convictions than Illinois.

Is Ohio better at rooting out corruption or does Illinois just have smarter and more experienced criminals in office that can avoid indictment? I would assume that Illinois could convict over a thousand just from the Chicago - Gary corridor. Maybe the judges are on the take as well.

Auto Bailout: Harry Reid Is A Whining Moron

Musing On Obama And America's Future

Was the current economic crisis engineered specifically for the election? I believe so.

Is the auto bailout being engineered as payback to unions and to make it imperative that the federal government take over large chunks of industry in America? Yes, in for a penny, in for a pound will be the cry from Washington and they will probably give an equity stake to the unions which will be the death knell for the auto industry.

Will the failure of the auto industry bring us health reform as envisioned by the new administration? Yes, Hillary Care will become a reality and it will kill what quality and affordability in medicine that Medicare/Medicaid hasn't. The Kevorkian of health, Tom Daschle, will lead the way. He's like a Dracula who has had a hundred stakes put through his heart by the citizens and keeps popping up to drool in his droll way.

Is Obama and his close friends in up to their necks in the political corruption in Chicago and Illinois? You betcha and we'll never hear anything about it. No doubt for the good of the country. In fact, the Obama is answering a question in a press conference about if any of his staff may have spoken to the governor of Illinois. Warm up the bus Rahm, time to toss another under it.

This administration is off to a good start. Not for us, but what do they care? If Obama gets a quarter of what he has talked about, our country will be unrecognizable and totally screwed.

How can a country this large maintain itself as a third world loser? It can't. And that is no coincidence.

Bush, Iraq And The Dementia Of The New York Times

Via American Power

I don't read the New York Times much anymore. There is no reason to. They are no longer a news organization and their editorials are laughable.

Case in point:

The Deluder in Chief
We long ago gave up hope that President Bush would acknowledge his many mistakes, or show he had learned anything from them
...

It was bad enough when Mr. Bush piously declared that he hopes Americans believe he is a guy who “didn’t sell his soul for politics.”
...

It was skin crawling to hear him tell Mr. Gibson that the thing he will really miss when he leaves office is no longer going to see the families of slain soldiers, because they make him feel better about the war.
...

After everything the American public and the world have learned about how Mr. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney manipulated Congress, public opinion and anyone else they could bully or lie to, Mr. Bush is still acting as though he decided to invade Iraq after suddenly being handed life and death information on Saddam Hussein’s arsenal.

The truth is that Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had been chafing to attack Iraq before Sept. 11, 2001. They justified that unnecessary war using intelligence reports that they knew or should have known to be faulty. And it was pressure from the White House and a highly politicized Pentagon that compelled people like Secretary of State Colin Powell and George Tenet, the Central Intelligence director, to ignore the counter-evidence and squander their good names on hyped claims of weapons of mass destruction.

Despite it all, Mr. Bush said he will “leave the presidency with my head held high.” And, presumably, with his eyes closed to all the disasters he is dumping on the American people and his successor.

No wonder the sad old gray lady is mortgaging herself to the hilt in hopes of staying alive long enough for the "O" and the Fairness Doctrine.

Admit and learn from mistakes? Look in your mirror lady. Your skirt is showing.

Bad enough to admit one hopes nobody think they have sold their soul? It is bad form to speak of oneself as if no one is near.

It is skin crawling to hear somebody's words twisted to someone's sick view. Even for an old lady.

Bullied and lied to justify an unnecessary war wasting people's good names? Like maybe the old lady's good name? I can understand that many in congress are too stupid to understand facts, but the vaunted old gray hag? She who knows all is admitting a fault in that she didn't see the truth even when experts acted as mere peons and believed Iraq's past as prelude to the future? My, her showing slip appears to be old and torn.

Dementia seems to have set in in the old gray witch's memory banks. Weapons of mass destruction were but a part of the list of reasons President Bush gave for attacking Iraq. My memory tells me there were 15 or 16 reasons, not just WMDs.

Maybe when the old gray lady's Manhattan abode is shuttered and sold, she can leave her office with her head held high and her fading cloudy eyes closed so she doesn't see all of her disasters she has dumped on her readership and fawning media that believed and reported her tripe without doubting or researching her accuracy and truthfulness.

I hope the "home" will at least comfort her delusions and offer her a comfortable pair of bunny slippers in which to pad around the halls.

Call In Gay

Screw over your boss, let your peers and customers down and lie in the process. Sounds like a plan. It'll sure make me vote for a Prop 8 next time!

Hot Rod Blagojevich And The Political Machine Of Chicago Goes To Washington

The politics of Chicago, which is a stain on the body politic of this nation, is going to Washington, DC. I hope it doesn't get mugged.

New York has its classy hood politicians anointed by the ruling class to put a face up for them, Boston traditionally cloaks its corruption in the tears of the Irish, Cleveland corruption features political cousins with boxes of canollis in hand from Youngstown, New Orleans was built beneath the sea by pirates and grew into a disfuctional resort for corruption with a wink from the French and Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love, hasn't loved an honest man since Benjamin Franklin. Witness their history of mayors and their adopted son, the ham-fisted hammer, past mayor and now Governor, Big Ed Rendell.

There are many other cities with traditional machines that are corrupt with behind-the-scenes type of governance, but Chicago wears its love for bad boy politics on its sleeve as no other city in America. Chicago is the model for diversity in corruption from the lowly block captain and their army of community organizers, to the vaunted head of corruption, the mayor and his disciples of deception, the city council. Now these oafs are going to Washington.

The Obama is taking a part of the Chicago machine to be co-presidents with him in our nation's capitol. It's a good thing they're getting out of Chicago. Most of them should be indicted back in the Windy City for merely breathing. Breathing is a sign of survival and a sign of victory over one's enemies on the shore of that great lake. The bottom of that lake is littered with the non-breathers and on a hot day, the smell of rot smells, like victory.

Washington, DC is a place all its own. Built on a swamp and placed as a compromise between warring factions of the young republic, it's underlying stink is only marginally masked by winter. It's filled with bureaucrats who'd knife their mother for a promotion, a window desk and a pension. The bureaucrats are "run" by politicians and their staffs who are elected, in some cases, by the people. The politicians are lead by such déclassé people such as Pelosi, Reid, Schumer who answer only to their handlers. It's kinda like the Cabots and the Lodges, but God has no part in it. He's smart that way. If only Chicago was.

There's no lake for the losers in Washington. There needn't be, the city is, after all, built on a swamp. Unions make themselves noticed in their marble temples and fleets of limos carrying their leaders to early morning meetings at restaurants around the city for lunch. Community organizers are like pets to bring out at political functions, usually to give an award to a politician. The mob is frowned upon in DC because Congress hates competiton. The power elite in Washington control the flow of information, which is money, and wouldn't give a fig about our Republic if it weren't for those pesky constitutional issues. They will chew up and then use the bumpkins from Chicago until they have no more use for them. If Chicago is the sympton that "government of the people, by the people, for the people" is ill, Washington, DC is the virus which may cause it to perish.

Unfortunately, Hot Rod Blagojevich won't be going to Washington. He forgot the cardinal rule of Chicago where watching your watchers and having their watchers in your employ is not just a neccessity, but is in his union contract. Well, at least he should have peers to commiserate with in the Governor's Wing of the state penitentiary. At least he is still breathing. For now.

Congress Starts Nationalizing American Business In The Name Of Good

Bad business is bad for investors, workers and the buying public. Government in business, nationalizing, is worse.

As it used to be said of the Soviet Union, it may also be said of the Unites States government; If you put the government in charge of deserts then there will be a sand shortage soon.

U.S. Could Take Stakes in Big 3
Congress and the White House inched toward a financial rescue of the Big Three auto makers, negotiating legislation that would give the U.S. government a substantial ownership stake in the industry and a central role in its restructuring.

Under terms of the draft legislation, which continued to evolve Monday evening, the government would receive warrants for stock equivalent to at least 20% of the loans any company receives. The company also would have to agree to limits on executive compensation and dividend payments, much like those contained in the government's $700 billion rescue of the financial industry.

In the case of General Motors Corp., such a move could give the government a large stake in the company and may hurt existing shareholders. GM is seeking about $10 billion in short-term loans and has a market capitalization of about $3 billion. The legislation didn't specify what kind of stock the government would take, leaving open the option it could be preferred, common, voting or nonvoting.

Assuming congressional Democrats and the White House come to agreement on the plan, the car industry would be the latest to submit to strict government scrutiny in return for a bailout, joining most prominently the banking sector.

To add insult to injury, the unions which have had a huge hand in paralyzing industry nationwide and also happen to be as corrupt as organized crime, but I repeat myself, now wants an "equity stake" in GM and a seat on the board. This is such blatant blackmail that even Jesse Jackson must be blanching and as such, I think it must be an outrageous bargaining chip.

In a sign of how messy the reorganization could become, the United Auto Workers union is seeking to attach strings to any concessions it makes for the Big Three. Marc McQuillen, president of UAW Local 2404 in Charlotte, N.C., said the union is looking for an equity stake in GM and likely a seat on the company's board. UAW officials in Detroit couldn't be reached for comment.

Any politician that votes for what congress considers a bailout for the UAW auto-industry as described here should be thrown out of office and made to beg on the streets for scraps.

Remember Our Troops Everyday, Show Your Pride On Fridays

(This is an email I received from a veteran. It is making the rounds and I thought I'd help, especially considering the cut and run crowd heading for Washington, DC.)

International Picture of the Year

Here are two very touching photos honored this year

First Place :

First Place Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News
When 2nd Lt. James Cathey's body arrived at the Reno Airport , Marines climbed into the cargo hold of the plane and draped the flag over his casket as passengers watched the family gather on the tarmac.
During the arrival of an other Marine's casket last year at Denver International Airport , Major Steve Beck described the scene as so powerful: 'See the people in the windows? They sat right there in the plane, watching those Marines. You gotta wonder what's going through their minds, knowing that they're on the plane that brought him home,' he said 'They will remember being on that plane for the rest of their lives. They're going to remember bringing that Marine home. And they should.'
Second Place:
Second Place
Todd Heisler The Rocky Mountain News
The night before the burial of her husband's body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of 'Cat,' and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept. 'I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it,' she said. 'I think that's what he would have wanted.'

Blue Fridays. Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing blue every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent majority'. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.
Many Americans, lik e you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something blue. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of blue much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in BLUE and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked 'What can we do to make things better for you?' is: 'We need your support and your prayers.' Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something blue every Friday.

Global Warming Protesters Unaware Of Cold

Climate protesters demand swifter U.N. action
Thousands of climate protesters, some dressed as polar bears, devils or penguins, demanded on Saturday swifter action from the United Nations to combat global warming.

They may need the polar bear suits here. It's colder than normal. 'Bout 33 degrees.

How Many Humans Has Communism Killed?

Today, the day after the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the imperial forces of Japan I read about the 75th anniversary of the murder, through forced starvation, of millions of humans in the Ukraine by the Soviet Union. Communists.

Remember the Holodomor
This year marks the 75th anniversary of one of the most horrific chapters in the history of the Soviet Union: the great famine the Ukrainians call Holodomor, "murder by starvation." This catastrophe, which killed an estimated 6 to 10 million people in 1932-33, was largely the product of deliberate Soviet policies. Inevitably, then, its history is fodder for acrimonious disputes.

Ukraine--which, with Canada and a few other countries, observed Holodomor Remembrance Day on November 23--seeks international recognition for a Ukrainian "genocide." Russia denounces that demand as political exploitation of a wider tragedy. Some Russian human rights activists are skeptical of both positions.
...

The partial opening of Soviet archives soon confirmed the extent to which Stalin and his henchmen knowingly used hunger to punish resistance and beat the peasantry into submission. Among the finds was a direct order by Stalin to cordon off starving villages and intercept peasants trying to flee in search of food. The post-Soviet leadership of both Russia and Ukraine was willing to acknowledge the Terror-Famine, though differences soon emerged on whether it should be regarded as a Ukrainian genocide or equal-opportunity mass murder.

Years ago during the Reagan administration, when I worked for a conservative group in Washington, DC, I had produced a simple, but direct bumper sticker that stated, "Communism Kills". I believed it then and I believe it now. Communism is a stain on the history of the world. Many of my friends thought me coarse for stating such a thing about our adversary, the USSR, even stating that such things antaganized them to the point of danger because the communists would never do such a thing. My reply, along the lines of "horsecrap", was not well received. I still see some of those bumper stickers now and then

To this day there are those soviet apologists that deny the Holodomor. Many of them work at the New York Times while many people the leadership of the liberal/progressive movements here in America. The leadership in Russia, longing for a return of the Soviet also still deny it much as the Japanese try to deny the horrors they visited on the people they conquered prior to and during the Second World War. They are all, quite simply, liars. They are not in denial, they are in hope of a world in which socialism and communism rules.

There is no question that the famine caused deaths beyond Ukraine. It is generally believed that about half of the victims were in Ukraine and the predominantly Ukrainian-populated Russian region of Kuban. The millions of others who perished included Russian peasants and close to a third of the population of Kazakhstan.

There is also no doubt that the famine was man-made. Most Soviet peasants resisted the collectivization that began in the 1930s. When joining collective farms was voluntary, few signed up, and many who did soon left. Forcible collectivization was met with peasant rebellions, ruthlessly suppressed, then with quiet resistance. When villagers realized that collective farming meant backbreaking labor for the state at slave wages, many staged work slowdowns. As a result, grain production targets were not met at a time when Moscow relied on grain exports to finance industrialization. The regime then instituted a policy of ruthless confiscation of grain that left no food for the peasants; in many regions, villages that failed to meet the quota were also forced to surrender all other foodstuffs.

Recent articles detailing the Soviet regime's war on the peasantry, based on Soviet archives, describe a living hell: government agents going door to door confiscating food; families in recalcitrant villages forced out of their homes and left to freeze; men and women tortured to make them reveal hidden stockpiles of food; widespread cannibalism. These horrors were by no means limited to Ukraine.

It is nonetheless true that Stalin's fateful decision to blockade famine-stricken areas, issued in January 1933, was initially directed at Ukraine and Kuban. This has prompted French historian Nicolas Werth, coauthor of The Black Book of Communism, to reconsider his view of the Terror-Famine as ethnically neutral class warfare. In an address at the Harvard Ukrainian Institute on November 18, Werth said he now believes there is sufficient evidence to support the "national interpretation" of the famine. This evidence, in his view, includes the fact that the Holodomor coincided with a Soviet campaign against Ukrainian nationalism, with purges and executions targeting Ukraine's political and cultural elites. Yet Werth concluded with a pointed plea to remember all the victims of the Communist war on the peasantry.

Communism kills. It must to survive, but first communism needs a base of liberalism and progressivism to present a face of concern and care within which socialism can grow and flourish into communism.

The murder of millions, whether it occured in the USSR, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia or in Communist China, must be remembered by adults and taught to children so that it cannot happen again.

This is the hope and change I voted for. Unfortunately, America didn't agree with me which is why I am already working toward the next election to help voters to remember why America is a great nation, that liberalism/progressivism/socialism/communism does not and cannot work and to remind people that it is not government that solves problems and creates opportunity, it is people. The people that communism hates.

December 7th, 1941, A Day Of Infamy

When the 7th of December 1941 was over, it was clear that the Japanese had delivered a tremendous blow to the United States. Five battleships were sunk or sinking, three destroyers were wrecked, a minelayer and target ship had capsized, two cruisers were badly damaged and many other ships needed repairs. Hawaii-based Navy and Army aviation was also greatly diminished, feeding a sense of defenselessness and defeat that greatly exceeded the realities of the situation.
Fortunately, the Japanese Navy's limited objectives, and limited resources, had left Pearl Harbor's industrial and logistics capabilities essentially intact. Repair efforts began almost immediately, with major salvage projects following as quickly as resources allowed. For the moment, however, with fires out and sunken ships awaiting salvors, Navy photographers, who had done such a remarkable job of recording the events of 7 December, continued their efforts to capture images of the results of the "Day of Infamy" to meet immediate official requirements, and the needs of posterity.

The Audacity Of Mope By Obama Buddy Bill Ayers

Now that the messiah is about to be elected by the Electoral College to the Presidency of the United States of America his friends and allies are baring their souls about just how tough it is to be a FOB, Friend of Barack.

This is especially tough for FOB criminals like Bill Ayers. It is rough living a bourgeois life, having a circle of paper tiger friends, a president-elect with his own official office of president elect and being an expert in re-education of school children, when people keep bringing up your terrorist past. I mean there are perks such as that tingly feeling you get when your adoring fans realize they are looking at a true warrior for peace and that glow of self love one can get sitting in their parlor with a crackling fire and a snifter of liqueur as one replays those heady days of free love after an evening of planning murder and bombing.

But then there are those that continue to try and make you out as a bad person. Bummer.

Dishonest Narrative Decried
Bill Ayers at NYT, upset about the “dishonesty of the narrative,” informs us that ”cast in the ‘unrepentant terrorist’ role; I felt at times like the enemy projected onto a large screen in the “Two Minutes Hate” scene from George Orwell’s “1984,” when the faithful gathered in a frenzy of fear and loathing.”

I would call Bill Ayers a loser of the worst ilk, that he is a murderer and that he has wasted not just his life, but those that he has influenced with his horse crap, but that would might make him mope.
