Being a professional reporter is really hard, especially when on one has told you what to write. Jeez, it's not like they're just bloggers who actually write what they think on their own. Only a rookie with no skin in the game would do something stupid like that.
When McCain picked Palin, liberal journalists coordinated the best line of attack
Chris Hayes of the Nation wrote in with words of encouragement, and to ask for more talking points. “Keep the ideas coming! Have to go on TV to talk about this in a few min and need all the help I can get,” Hayes wrote.
Suzanne Nossel, chief of operations for Human Rights Watch, added a novel take: “I think it is and can be spun as a profoundly sexist pick. Women should feel umbrage at the idea that their votes can be attracted just by putting a woman, any woman, on the ticket no matter her qualifications or views.”
Mother Jones’s Stein loved the idea. “That’s excellent! If enough people – people on this list? – write that the pick is sexist, you’ll have the networks debating it for days. And that negates the SINGLE thing Palin brings to the ticket,” he wrote.
Another writer from Mother Jones, Nick Baumann, had this idea: “Say it with me: ‘Classic GOP Tokenism’.”
...
Journolist’s founder Ezra Klein, now a blogger at the Washington Post, reached an entirely different conclusion: “I see no reason to attack Palin. I think you accurately describe Palin and attack McCain.” Klein linked to an article he had written for the American Prospect that calmly described Palin’s thin resume.
Time’s Joe Klein then linked to his own piece, parts of which he acknowledged came from strategy sessions on Journolist. “Here’s my attempt to incorporate the accumulated wisdom of this august list-serve community,” he wrote. And indeed Klein’s article contained arguments developed by his fellow Journolisters. Klein praised Palin personally, calling her “fresh” and “delightful,” but questioned her “militant” ideology. He noted Palin had endorsed parts of Obama’s energy proposal.
That was all on the day of the announcement.
Journolist was made up of a bunch of desperate whining wanna-be sumptin important nobodies. The journalists that wrote about and were supposed to accurately report on the election of the most powerful person in the world thought the electorate a bunch of "f*cking NASCAR retards" that they could conspire to lie to so as to fix the election.
Now, who are the retards?
...Virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone that renders us invincible. These are the tactics we should study. If we lose these, we are conquered, fallen indeed... Patrick Henry (1736-1799) US Founding Father

Bush, Iraq And The Dementia Of The New York Times
Via American Power
I don't read the New York Times much anymore. There is no reason to. They are no longer a news organization and their editorials are laughable.
Case in point:
The Deluder in Chief
We long ago gave up hope that President Bush would acknowledge his many mistakes, or show he had learned anything from them
...
It was bad enough when Mr. Bush piously declared that he hopes Americans believe he is a guy who “didn’t sell his soul for politics.”
...
It was skin crawling to hear him tell Mr. Gibson that the thing he will really miss when he leaves office is no longer going to see the families of slain soldiers, because they make him feel better about the war.
...
After everything the American public and the world have learned about how Mr. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney manipulated Congress, public opinion and anyone else they could bully or lie to, Mr. Bush is still acting as though he decided to invade Iraq after suddenly being handed life and death information on Saddam Hussein’s arsenal.
The truth is that Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had been chafing to attack Iraq before Sept. 11, 2001. They justified that unnecessary war using intelligence reports that they knew or should have known to be faulty. And it was pressure from the White House and a highly politicized Pentagon that compelled people like Secretary of State Colin Powell and George Tenet, the Central Intelligence director, to ignore the counter-evidence and squander their good names on hyped claims of weapons of mass destruction.
Despite it all, Mr. Bush said he will “leave the presidency with my head held high.” And, presumably, with his eyes closed to all the disasters he is dumping on the American people and his successor.
No wonder the sad old gray lady is mortgaging herself to the hilt in hopes of staying alive long enough for the "O" and the Fairness Doctrine.
Admit and learn from mistakes? Look in your mirror lady. Your skirt is showing.
Bad enough to admit one hopes nobody think they have sold their soul? It is bad form to speak of oneself as if no one is near.
It is skin crawling to hear somebody's words twisted to someone's sick view. Even for an old lady.
Bullied and lied to justify an unnecessary war wasting people's good names? Like maybe the old lady's good name? I can understand that many in congress are too stupid to understand facts, but the vaunted old gray hag? She who knows all is admitting a fault in that she didn't see the truth even when experts acted as mere peons and believed Iraq's past as prelude to the future? My, her showing slip appears to be old and torn.
Dementia seems to have set in in the old gray witch's memory banks. Weapons of mass destruction were but a part of the list of reasons President Bush gave for attacking Iraq. My memory tells me there were 15 or 16 reasons, not just WMDs.
Maybe when the old gray lady's Manhattan abode is shuttered and sold, she can leave her office with her head held high and her fading cloudy eyes closed so she doesn't see all of her disasters she has dumped on her readership and fawning media that believed and reported her tripe without doubting or researching her accuracy and truthfulness.
I hope the "home" will at least comfort her delusions and offer her a comfortable pair of bunny slippers in which to pad around the halls.

Guidelines? Hey, AP,Why Not Follow The Law?
Goliath heard that David had a slingshot, an obvious offensive weapon escalation, so he called in all the other bullies on the block to chat with the Media Bloggers Association to iron out their differences with David. Kinda like Hamas talking to Hamas-lite to help out Israel.
The Associated Press, following criticism from bloggers over an AP assertion of copyright, plans to meet this week with a bloggers' group to help form guidelines under which AP news stories could be quoted online.
Why do we need guidelines from AP? Why do we need a Media Bloggers Association that represents about 0% of blogs?
What we have here is failure to communicate. We're doing AP a favor by quoting them at all, even when they're so wrong and biased, and we spell their name right.
Check your bathwater AP. There's a baby in there somewhere. Or is it there's a pony in that pile of horsesh............?

What If Iowa Is Just The First Prez Contest?
Another scintillating 'what if' from the what if we were ever right as the paper of record:
What if Iowa Settles Nothing for Democrats?
But what if it is not decisive?
Then maybe they might just have to keep campaigning.

Brian Williams: Well what will you do?
el Al Waleece: I will invade Iran and defeat the Iranis on
their own ground.
Brian Williams: Invade? That's impossible.
el Al Waleece: Why? Why is that impossible? You're so concerned
with squabbling for the scraps from Ahmadinejad's table that you've
missed your God-given right to something better.
There is a difference between us.
The difference is here.
Not enough chicken bones to choke on for this fête.

Rude Little Liberal Plante
Some people didn't like what I wrote here.
Read the rest. If it was video you would be able to watch Plante dance while he offered lame excuses and held his balls of the day.
Nice award.
...
CBS’ ‘Rude Little Liberal’
On Monday morning, Karl Rove stood next to President George W. Bush on the
South Lawn of the White House and announced that he would be resigning from the administration at the end of the month. In front of the assembled D.C. press
corp, he read a statement, and the President spoke. There was no formal
opportunity for questions.
Towards the end of the appearance, as the President and his favorite pol
were about to head in the direction of an awaiting helicopter, Bill Plante, CBS
White House correspondent, broke the embargo.
“If he’s so smart,” said Mr. Plante, “how come you lost Congress?”
The president ignored Mr. Plante. But the bloggers did not.
By early afternoon, Mediabistro’s FishbowlDC had reported on Mr. Plante’s
question, which quickly ricocheted around the Web.
Conservative bloggers were not amused.
“Besides being a rude little liberal, Plante also manages to show just how
unqualified he is to be reporting on politics,” wrote Invincible Armor. “No
doubt that’s why CBS hired him.”
A blogger at Planetsave.com, on the other hand, gave Mr. Plante the “balls
of the day award.”
Reached by phone at his home in Washington D.C. on Monday night, Mr. Plante
said he wasn’t surprised by the attention. What people should understand, he
said, was that the question was of less importance than the principle.
“Here’s the point,” said Mr. Plante. “It’s important that we ask questions
even if some people don’t believe that they’re appropriate. They don’t have to
answer them. But we have to ask them. Did I have to ask that question? That’s a
point of legitimate argument.”
Read the rest. If it was video you would be able to watch Plante dance while he offered lame excuses and held his balls of the day.
Nice award.

Bill Plante Dumber Than A Potted Plant
Bill Plante's Having None of This Garden Party
As Karl Rove embraced President Bush today following an emotional
farewell announcement on the South Lawn, the solemnity of the moment was
shattered by Bill Plante of CBS, who bellowed to Bush: "If he's so smart, how
come you lost Congress?"
Besides being a rude little liberal, Plante also manages to show just how unqualified he is to be reporting on politics. No doubt that's why CBS hired him.

Anti-Surgists Insurgents Still Make Provinces Dangerous
Though there has been an excess of attacks creating massive press coverage, the surge against the surge in Iraq appears to have failed, at least for now. Through attacks in major metropolitan areas such as LA, New York and especially Washington DC the rebels and their allies in the press had hoped to galvanize a majority of citizens to ignore reality and turn against further military involvement in Iraq. Even though the surge appears to have faltered, critics point to weak government progressiveness and an ineffectual political process by the American Congress as the likely culprit.
Despite critics, Congress went on a month long vacation after failing to reconcile partisan differences and to address the unwillingness of different factions to work together to form a functioning coalition that could drive the government to make some identifiable progress. Many Representatives of the far left coalition have stopped even appearing to work with Congressional leaders further opening a deep rift among anti-surge surgists pointing out that attacks against the administration have increased almost daily and the administration is unable to stop them pointing to a need for a new direction in Washington.
Leading anti-surge Democrat Rep. John Murtha of the Pennsylvania province has recommended that redeploying pro-surge surgists to a neutral corner could clear the way to “real political” progress in the fight. Anti-surge surgists point to the current administration’s continual need to address the realities of Iraq as proof that the surge has failed.
“The administration is aggressively engaged in shifting (public) attitudes. And our side has been less aggressive than it needs to be,” said Democratic pollster Celinda Lake. “The administration has been making inroads on their Iraqi argument, particularly linking it to terrorism.”
Others in the anti-surge surge coalition have aggressively grasped for the gravitas needed to make failure a reality. Noting the public’s uneasiness with facts, Illinois province Sen. Dick Durbin, the second-ranking Democrat in the anti-surge surge coalition, said Wednesday, “As our coalition show some progress, the government of this nation is moving in the opposite direction. This is really unsustainable with the American people.”
Many anti-surgists have pointed to the provinces, such as the uncontrollable corn-belt provinces, as dangerous and out of control. “We’ve failed miserably there. Those provinces are lost,” stated an anonymous aide, but they noted some success in urban areas such as Chicago, but admitting that Kansas City was lost, stating, “It will always be the wild west out there. What are you going to do?”
Michael Flourney, a former Pentagon defense strategist and now president of the Center for a New American Security, said that “The clock in Washington is running down pretty fast. There’s sort of a wall next March-April.” Bush recently extended tours of duty from 12 months to 15 months and the anti surge surgists were impotent to get a surge against the surge up and running.
Loren Thompson of the Lexington Institute, a Virginia-based think tank that follows defense issues, cites “significant progress” on the pro-surge front noting that, “There’s a backlash” against the anti-surge surgists noting a lessening of attacks in the belt around Washington, DC.
“The problem is that nobody in the United States sees any significant progress on the political front. The factions in the government don’t seem to be able to get along. And that makes Congress wonder whether we’re making any real progress. Because, even with better security, the country can’t figure out how to take care of itself.”
Reports from the capitol and from various provinces, including Massachusetts, California and Oregon have shown that anti-surge surgists and allied insurgents plan a “long hot August” culminating in massive attacks prior to General Petraeus’ testimony concerning the surge. A spokesperson for a small but violent group named Surge Haters In Texas, stated “Patraeus is a lackey for the administration and they have gone to great lengths to kill Iraqi freedom fighters just to make this surge look successful. We’re not buying that shit.”

Malveaux, Are You Stupid Enough?
Have you asked yourself whether Hillary is "black enough"?
Could Hillary Clinton also be a 'black' leader?
Well, as long as Democrats want to have any relevancy they have to keep talking about it, otherwise hoaxer Jessie Jackson is just another wannabe third world leader, not a premier American racist.
There's a woman up there? Point her out.
Yep, going to Wellesley and Yale will do that to a person. All those pesky g's in Othello made for heavy sloughing as one wrestles with reading about interracial marry, but at least she can count on Bill to stay the coarse.
Sigh, it's not like we don't have enough time to find out if Clinton and the others are American enough, color blind enough, sensible enough, etc., but we probably won't because reporters like Malveaux aren't gutsy enough to ask these questions. They're afraid of being ostracized or fired.
...
Could Hillary Clinton also be a 'black' leader?
CNN White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux pinned back the former FirstSo, are any of the Democrat candidates "black enough", since hoaxer Al Sharpton isn't in the race?
Lady to explain how she could "sustain black support " while running against an
African-American. Ironically, thanks to Sen. Barack Obama's mixed white and
Kenyan parentage and campaign mischief, it is he who usually gets to field the
"black enough" question.
Clinton said the problem is not a "moral crisis but an economic crisis,"That broad-brush of actual crime statistics tells us that families aren't broken, just their bank accounts. Where the hell do the rest of us get in on this broad-brush?
rejecting the "broad-brush" notion that paints the young black male "as a
threat, as a headache or as a lost cause. I reject it as a string of
disappointments, failures and casualties of a broken system. That's not who they
are and that's not who they can be."
"We have to keep talking about race," she said, "because race is a very
significant issue for our country, for who we are as a country, for our role in
the world."
Well, as long as Democrats want to have any relevancy they have to keep talking about it, otherwise hoaxer Jessie Jackson is just another wannabe third world leader, not a premier American racist.
"I am really thrilled to be running at a time in our history when, on a
stage, you can see an African-American man, a Hispanic man and a woman."
There's a woman up there? Point her out.
In a moment of levity with the black columnists, Clinton joked about
how, as a flat-toned midwesterner, she sometimes lapses into a drawl in the
South and tends to drop her "g's" more around black audiences. In a snide
reference to author Toni Morrison's comment that her husband was the "first
black president," she mused:
"I do find myself dropping g's. I lived all those years in Arkansas,
and, you know, I'm in this interracial marriage."

New York Times & Jim Lehrer Report Confirm Leaving Will Push Iraq To Iran
Damien Cave of the New York Times just said on the The News Hour with Jim Lehrer that Iraq is being pushed into Iran's arms by their fear of America leaving Iraq.
Good job Democrats. Making Iran stronger is dusty work. Now you can relax and have a sip of wine for a job well done.
I know he's a useful idiot, but I wouldn't invite John "Mugger" Murtha. He's so rough around the edges being a hero and a Marine. He might clash with the delicate Chardonnay.

Blame the Messenger, Love the Troops
From Crusading Rabbit
thank a Marine!
I can only add to letting Marines know how much we support them the fact of how much we loath the MSM.
thank a Marine!
"US Marine Colonel Simcock, the commander of USMC Regimental Combat
Team 6 in Iraq, is asking for 6,000 positive emails to his Marines. That's one
email for each Marine in his RCT command.
COL Simcock is concerned about the effect of the negative
barrage that those Marines are getting through the electronic
media.
via Fortress Australiathe address is:
RCT-6lettersfromh@gcemnf-wiraq.usmc.mil
so come on--get off yer backside and let these guys know that the MSM
doesn't reflect the way most of us in the West feel about our troops.
I can only add to letting Marines know how much we support them the fact of how much we loath the MSM.

For My Minion
When I want to view the other side of the story about Iraq I go to
Good News From The War On Terror 8/2
Right Wing Champ does the digging and I reap the benefit. For you, my minion, it should be a must read to soften the head banging urge you feel watching and reading the news. I won't lecture you again about listening to Congressional stars like Mugger Murtha and Harry "Iraq who" Reid.
Of course, you didn't listen to me about that girl you met from the pool hall. Tell me again, what did the doctor say?

Liberals Love the Troops Through Lies and Greed
Via Protein Wisdom
From Wonkette: Tillman executed by American soldiers on orders from higher ups
No, I won't link to Wonkette. Besides, with my meter count her server couldn't take it.
I won't link to this story except to those that are truly trying to find the truth, because Wonkette and those like her are lower than a rat bastard for trying to make this story true just to hurt our efforts and troops and to build her miserable meter count.
You can get a good round up of this story from Ace of Spades.
When the story first started percolating out of their cesspool I had these thoughts. Now, I will let you read Ace and Jeff because I am too angry to write coherently and without swearing which I do not like to do, especially on this blog, but to use an honorable man for their dishonorable goals is just too.......

Oil For Blood In The Middle East
For years we have heard delightful people scream "No blood for oil" or some some such political ditty.
I believe we are in Afghanistan and Iraq for many reasons and the stability of our economy is part of that and oil is part of our economy. Oil is a substance with which a despot like Saddam could use to blackmail or bring governments down.
Question to our friends across the aisle:
Do you want terrorists or terrorist states such as Iran controlling Iraq's oil fields to pursue more terror on innocent people?

How Many More Lies By the Media?
Via Sniper One at 7.62MM Justice
A poor wittle terrorist gets a hang nail or gets so upset over a cartoon, let alone bogus, lying stories about the Koran and a toilet and our media piddles all over themselves getting the story a headline in the local rag.
Al Qaeda slaughters a village and it isn't newsworthy.
Read Michael Yon, who does not hang out in a green zone nor pay money to known liars as sources, but actually goes to the scene and reports the good and the bad. You should go with him...
Bless the Beasts and Children
Every day we put up with shoddy reporting, morons passing as reporters and editors and, now, outright lies and censorship.
Fire everyone of the bastards. Oh, pass this story on. The author says it is okay.
