Zack Space Continues To Hide From Mere Voters, But Has Time For Big Donors/DC Elite/Afghanistan
My wife, daughter and I decided to take a Sunday drive to do some photography. After a really great afternoon we decided to stop at the Ye Olde Mill, the Velvet ice cream museum and restaurant, to get a treat (I highly recommend this).
While there I picked up a copy of The Utica Herald and saw an interesting article. An article that probably won't appear in the MSM.
[text, article]
Congressman Zack Space Refuses to Meet with Local Constituents After Tea Party
Coach Dave Daubenmire of "Pass the Salt Ministries" and a handful of dedicated citizens drove across three counties last night in an attempt to secure a face to face meeting with their Congressman. When finally located, Congressman Space refused to speak to this small, but hearty group.
Over a hundred protesters endured the rain on Wednesday afternoon to attend a Tea Party in order to exercise their right of "Freedom of Speech." There were protesters from at least 5 counties in the district: Licking. Muskingum, Knox, Coshocton and Tuscarawas. There was also a petition passed around to collect signatures that urge Space to vote "NO" on the "unconstitutional" health care bill. There was a vaiety of speakers there to represent people from both parties and Independents. All spoke about the government over stepping the Constitution. "They think the Bill of Rights are privileges they give us, but in reality they are limits that we place on them" speaker Beau Bromberg said.
After the 4 pm Tea-Party outside of Congressman Space's Zanesville, Ohio office, Coach Daubenmire and his crew drove the hour to a private location where Congressman Space was holding a "fundraiser." A local Knox County Deputy stood guard at the house to prevent the group from attending the meeting.
The group appealed to Congressman Space or any one of his handlers to please come out and speak with them. The gol of the group was to schedule a "town hall meeting" for a later date where Congressman Space could look into the eyes of those he represents.
For three hours, the group waited for someone from the Congressman's office to speak with. Instead of responding to the group's civil request, Congressman Space snuck out or the residence under the cover of darkness.
From Knox County, Ohio:
Space declined to address mediaRep. Zack Space sent word through a sheriff’s deputy at a fundraiser he attended Wednesday night that he would address citizens’ concerns but not in the presence of news media outlets.
Less than a dozen constituents from Space’s 18th District traveled from as far away as Muskingum County, hoping to catch the congressman as he left the home of Linda and Peter Michaels on New Gambier Road.
Space had been the featured guest at a campaign fundraiser for the Knox County Democratic Women’s Club, a private event where a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy stood guard at the end of the driveway to keep out uninvited guests.
A group gathered along the roadside with a Fox News cameraman and reporters who were hoping for an opportunity to meet with Space.
Just after the event, at least two attendees hurled insults as they exited Michaels’ driveway, one an attorney and former village councilman from Gambier who gave a middle finger to those standing by. Others stopped to hold conversations or left politely.
Bob Denny, an advertising sales representative from Baltimore, traveled from a gathering at Space’s Zanesville office with a group of friends. He said he’s troubled that Space has refused to hold a town-hall style meeting with constituents.
“People want to talk to him face to face. They want to read his body language, look him in the eye and they want to see truth,” said Denny. “There are 535 people in Washington controlling 300 million plus and they’re not listening to the majority.”
On the other side was Ada Jacobs, whose husband knew Space from his days as a student at Kenyon College. She attended the fundraiser and said Space had made the decision to meet with smaller groups because he felt they’d be more effective than town hall meetings.
“This was announced to many people, and they had the opportunity to come,” she said.
However, Linda Michaels told radio station WMVO in a telephone call on Monday that event was private, despite an invitation on a public portion the Knox County Democratic Party’s website.
Jacobs said Space answered a myriad of questions on current health care reform proposals, but declined to speak about portions of the bill he was unfamiliar with, like nonprofit co-ops.
“He didn’t play games,” she said. “He said he needed to do some more research.”
Others, like Coach Dave Daubenmire, weren’t happy to learn that Space wouldn’t meet in the presence of reporters. The well-known religious commentator and demonstrator said he was turned away at the door earlier in the evening, but was told by a sheriff’s deputy that he could come back to meet with the congressman.
“I’d like to have a conversation with Zack Space out here for all the world to see – not go back and hide in some room and let him come out and tell a different story…” he said. “I’ve called his office four times and he would not return my call.”
Space has been under increasing pressure recently following his vote against an amendment prohibiting illegal aliens from receiving health benefits. Space introduced his own amendment a short time later which he said was binding, but critics say it lacks language that would require proof of citizenship.
Calls to Space’s Zanesville office have gone unanswered.
But Space has time to travel 50 mile outside of the district to a fundraiser in Bexley, Ohio with DC bigwigs:
Space fundraiser to feature U.S. agriculture secretary
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsak will headline a fundraiser next Sunday in Bexley for Democratic U.S. Rep. Zack Space of Dover.
The evening event will be held in the home of David Wilhelm, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and manager of Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign. Wilhelm's home is outside of Space's 18th Congressional District.
Those attending the Space fundraiser in Bexley are being asked to contribute at one of four levels ranging from $250 to $2,400.
Group to petition Space for town hall meeting on health care
And in Zanesville, Ohio, small businessmen demanded the same from Congressman Zack Space where, according to one activist-businessman, “his August schedule was set months ago. Mr. Space apparently can’t set aside a single day to meet with us.”
Apparently, Congressman Space feels safer in Afghanistan than in his Ohio district.
Brown, Space visit Afghanistan
Maybe not, since the US has given Afghanistan the right to be free, maybe they'll ask some questions he wants to avoid.
Beat Navy, But Support Navy!
Take the Field Tribute—Ohio State Buckeyes vs. the Navy Midshipmen:
With less than two weeks before the Navy Midshipmen come to town to open the 2009 college football season, there is something other than the game, players, coaches, and match-ups that I'd like to share with you all.
I have a friend of mine whose daughter was very close to a classmate of hers. He signed up for the Army right after high school and he ultimately found himself in Iraq. On August 4th, 2009 he lost his life, fighting for our country and for our freedoms. He was just 19 years old.
So please, in 12 days when Navy comes to Columbus, please support this great idea and welcome them into Ohio Stadium.
Please spread the word and send this to all the Buckeye fans you know.
Of course, we can still root for an OSU victory, but there are bigger things in life than football.
Supporting the men and women of our Armed Forces is one of them.
Please, whatever you do, don't boo Navy. Instead, treat them as you treat our Buckeyes.
Thank you!

Kennedy: "Heard Any Good Jokes About Chappaqquidick?"
It is always good to have a sense of the irony of life. Unless it was your sister or daughter who was murdered and left in the cold water for fish to feed on.
Stop The ACLU has more on that famous Kennedy hilarity about murdering a young woman who he was trying to seduce.
Unions Get Car Corps, Fed Bank Slots & Now Soros Gets $2B For Offshore Drilling Payola
I am sure that it is just a coincidence that George Soros owns most of Petrobras, the company that Brazil has hired to do the offshore drilling. I mean if Obama would pay his biggest supporter $2B for that support, he might just give away car companies to other supporters, banks to still others and our private health care to somebody else, say, David Axelrod.
The people that say these horrible things about our Dear Leader will probably start false rumors about the fine people supporting his divine health care reform.
Jeez. People might start believing that Obama and cronies aren't that honest and that this is just payola for their campaign work and astroturfing for Obama's legislation.
Now, who would believe something like that?

Stagecraft And Thuggery To Push KennedyObamasCare
This is from a Bozeman resident that weknow!!! This country is in suchbig trouble. . .. .
Hello All,
By now you have probably heard that President Obama came to Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that the major news has not covered. I feel that since we live here and we were atthe airport on Friday I should share some facts with you. Whatever you decide to do with the information isup to you. If you chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email address before you forward thison.
On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced locally that the President would becoming here. There are many groups here that are against his healthcare and huge spending so those groups began talkingand deciding on what they were going to do. The White House would not release ANY details other than thedate.
On about Tuesday we found out that they would be holding the "TownHall" at the airport. Our airport is actually located outside of Belgrade (tiny town) in a veryremote location. Nothing is around there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located hangar. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get to it easily. It is totally secluded from thepublic.
FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman which could have held a large amount offolks with sufficient parking. (gymnasiums/auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would not have to beSHIPPED IN!! $$$$$
During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped inconstantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming severalexpressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$
Late Tuesday/earlyWednesday the 12th, they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and thepresident would be arriving around 12:30 Friday.Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Localprinting shop per White House request. Hmmmm......900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.
This same morning someone called into the radio from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of Dollars of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to helpout the local economy. Anyone heard of the Recession?? Just think...with all of the traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else we are paying for.
On Friday we got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama's spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area(illegal)and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to maketrouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd.\
The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 andthey were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood folks were with them.....professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)
Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over andwalking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man.
So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state with their homemade signs and theirDOGS with homemade signs. We had cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas who had beendriving through. He found out about the occasion, went to the store, made a sign, and came toprotest.
If you are wondering about the press.....Well, all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned. They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts that they knew anything about thecrowds. We did have some local news media around us from this state and Idaho.Speaking of the local media...they were invited. However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. Wouldn't want anyone to have to think off the top of their head.
It was very obvious that it was meant to be totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down tothe last detail to make it appear that Montana is just crazy for Obama and government healthcare. Even those people that talked about their insurance woes........the White House called our local HRDC (Human Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors...EVERYTHING was staged!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America, more like the USSR!! I was physically nauseous. We have been around when Presidents or Heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices. If you care about our country please get involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC.
Scary!!

Lost Coins In The Cushions
Well, now I'm going to go search my own since mother has passed and who knows, I might find some serious coin since I haven't vacuumed since I bought my couch and barka-lounger, especially in the lounge room and the private theater room. Lots of couches and chairs there. I don't think I've ever used the library that father stocked, but hey, I've got time on my hands and maybe I stuffed some money in one of the books.
Let Them Eat Taxes: Bastards
Rangel Hides Income and Assets...
He joins a long line of tax cheats in an administration that believes taxes are for the little people.
Entrepreneurs VS Bad Government & Unions In Ohio
Ohio has had a bad run these past years. When I left for DC to work many years ago Ohio had one of the lowest tax rates in the country and the state was thriving. Upon returning, I told my wife how great Ohio was and we were shocked at what we found. Liberal Democrats were in place and little republicans acted just like them. Ohio, my home state that I love, was looking like Michigan and losing jobs almost as fast while taxes continued to go up and up. We actually pay higher taxes than we did in the People's Republic of Montgomery in Maryland.
Ohio is dying. Dying at the hands of do-gooders supporting legislators at all levels garnering power in the name of the people in order to keep and grow their power. They have, like blue states, harnessed the power to bribe large sections of the electorate and money people. They are killing one of the best states in the nation that used to be a bell weather state that quietly suggested the future of the country through large and small industry, agriculture, a vast higher education system and politics. As Ohio went, so went the nation.
Now, as the nation goes, so went Ohio, downward to the "common good" to the detriment of all that is good. Small sections of society were held up by special interest groups and politicians as those that deserve the ideal of an America that gives grace. Large chunks of the economy were taken from the majority to finance this grace, but those chunks, in both large and small amounts, started to erode the financial base and goodwill of Ohio's people and employers. Both started leaving for states that envied what Ohio had, thus those other states did something smart, they lured them with lower taxes and less government. They went. Not Ohio, they, our people, our best, went. Ohio became a coastal state in thought, but without the coast.
As the outward trickle of "doers" grew, politicians, organizers, special interest groups and bureaucrats drew from the past, failed models of ideals. They bemoaned that if only we "helped" resurrect failed ideals such as (forced) government supported unions, larger governmental intrusion into the failed sections of society and more taxes as examples, Ohio would prosper and become a "good" state, but not if we returned to our old hayseed ways. Ohio became a union state with the government, including teachers, as the largest union. A union of bureaucrats.
There are a few who belie this trend through entrepreneurship and the ability to keep ahead of the blackmail payments to the federal, state and local authorities. I don't believe they are all Republicans or Democrats, they are driven to do their best. They give their best to their workers, their community and the state.
Below is such a story.
A Tale of Two $100,000 Jobs — A Tale of Two Americas
(Be sure to link through to the BusinessWeek story)
Ohio needs entrepreneurs, but most will go elsewhere to find a better environment in which to do their magic. Our environment will not improve until Republicans stop acting like liberals.
Until then, Ohio will continue its decent into a third-state environment. Like Michigan.

Democrats Vandalizing Themselves
'08 race worker held in damage to Colorado Democratic HQ
One of two people suspected of shattering 11 windows Tuesday morning at the state Democratic Party headquarters has an arrest record and a history of helping a Democratic political candidate, public records show.
Police said that about 2:20 a.m., 24-year-old Maurice Schwenkler, now in custody, and an at-large accomplice took a hammer to the picture windows displaying posters touting President Barack Obama and his health care reform efforts.
Early Tuesday, Democratic Party chairwoman Pat Waak said the damage to her building in Denver's art district was a consequence of "an effort on the other side to stir up hate." She tempered her statement after Schwenkler's political history was revealed.
"What I've been saying is there is a lot of rhetoric out there from both sides of the spectrum," Waak said. "That's what's been disturbing to me. People are saying a lot of things not appropriate for civil discourse."
Excuse me, I have to have my Brooks Brothers pressed.
Earth In The Balance
God was missing for six days...Eventually, Michael, the archangel, found him, resting on the seventh day.
He inquired, "Where have you been?"
God smiled deeply and proudly pointed downwards through the clouds,"Look, Michael. Look what I've made.
Archangel Michael looked puzzled, and said, "What is it?"
"It's a planet," replied God, "and I've put life on it... I'm going to call it Earth and it's going to be a place to test Balance."
"Balance?" inquired Michael, "I'm still confused."
God explained, pointing to different parts of earth. "For example, northern Europe will be a place of great opportunity and wealth, while southern Europe is going to be poor. Over here I've placed a continent of white people, and over ther e is a continent of black people. Balance in all things."
God continued pointing to different countries.
"This one will be extremely hot, while this one will be very cold and covered in ice."
The Archangel , impressed by God's work, then pointed to a land area and said, "What's that one?"
"That's Washington State , the most glorious place on earth. There are beautiful mountains, rivers and streams, lakes, forests, hills, and plains.
The people from Washington State are going to be handsome, modest, intelligent, and humorous, and they are going to travel the world. They will be extremely sociable, hardworking, high achieving, carriers of peace, and producers of software."
Michael gasped in wonder and admiration, but then asked,"But what about balance, God ? You said there would be balance.."
God smiled, "There's another Washington . Wait till you see the idiots I put there."
Chicago 1968: Armies Of The Night Begins
1968 – The Democratic National Convention opens in Chicago, Illinois.
In 1967, the Yippie movement had already begun planning a youth festival in Chicago to coincide with the Democratic National Convention. They were not alone; other groups, such as Students For a Democratic Society and the National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam, also made their presence known.[22] When asked about anti-war demonstrators, Daley kept repeating to reporters that “No thousands will come to our city and take over our streets, or city, our convention.”[23] In the end, 10,000 demonstrators came to Chicago for the convention where they were met by 23,000 police and National Guardsmen.[17] Daley also thought that one way to prevent demonstrators from coming to Chicago was to refuse to grant permits which would allow for people to protest legally.[24]
After the violence which took place at the Chicago convention, Daley claimed as his main reason for calling in so many Guardsmen and police was that he had received intelligence that there were going to be plots to assassinate many of the leaders, including himself. He played on the fears of the American people after John F. Kennedy’s assassination in Dallas as a means of legitimizing his calling of the Guard and the use of force in Chicago.[25]
While several protests took place before serious violence occurred, the demonstrations headed by the Yippies were not without comedy. Surrounded by reporters on August 23, 1968, Jerry Rubin, a Yippie leader, and other activists held their own presidential nominating convention with their candidate Pigasus, an actual pig. When the Yippies paraded Pigasus at the Civic Center, ten policemen arrested Rubin, Pigasus, and six others. This resulted in Pigasus becoming a media hit.[26] August 28, 1968 came to be known as the day a “police riot” took place. The title of “police riot” came out of the Walker Report, which amassed a great deal of information and eyewitness accounts to determine what actually happened in Chicago.[24] At approximately 3:30 p.m., a young boy lowered the American flag at a legal rally taking place at Grant Park. The rally was made up of 10,000 protestors.[16] The police broke through the crowd and began beating the boy, while the crowd pelted the police with food, rocks, bags of urine, and chunks of concrete.[27] The biggest clash in Chicago took place that day. Police fought with the protestors and vice versa. The chants of the protestors shifted from “Hell no, we won’t go” to “Pigs are whores.”[28] Tom Hayden, one of the leaders of Students for a Democratic Society, encouraged protestors to move out of the park to ensure that if they were to be tear gassed, the whole city would be tear gassed, and made sure that if blood were spilled in Chicago it would happen throughout the city.[29] The amount of tear gas used to suppress the protestors was so great that it eventually made its way to the Hilton Hotel where it disturbed Hubert Humphrey while in his shower.[28] The police were taunted by the protestors with chants of “Kill, kill, kill.” They sprayed demonstrators and bystanders indiscriminately with Mace.[30] What was to become the most famous picture of the Chicago demonstrations of 1968 was the police assault in front of the Hilton Hotel. The entire event took place under the T.V. lights for seventeen minutes, live, with the crowd shouting, “The whole world is watching.”[28] Meanwhile, in the convention hall, Connecticut Senator Abraham Ribicoff used his nominating speech for George McGovern to tell of the violence going on outside the convention hall, saying that “with George McGovern we wouldn’t have Gestapo tactics on the streets of Chicago.”[31] Mayor Daley responded to his remark with something that the T.V. sound was not able to pick up, but was later revealed by lip-readers that Daley had cursed “Fuck you, you Jew son of a bitch! You lousy motherfucker! Go home!”[32] That night, NBC News had been switching back and forth between the demonstrators being beaten by the police to the festivities over Humphrey’s victory in the convention hall.[33] It was under the cameras of the convention center, for all of America to see; it was abundantly clear that the Democratic party was sorely divided. After the Chicago protests, the demonstrators were certain that the majority of Americans would side with them over what had happened in Chicago, especially when looking at how the police had acted. In the end, however, they were shocked to see that as unpopular as the war in Vietnam had become, the anti-war movement was hated even more.[5] Daley claimed to have received 135,000 letters supporting his actions and only 5000 condemning them. Public opinion polls demonstrated that the majority of Americans supported the Mayor’s tactics.[34]
[edit] The Chicago Seven
Main article: Chicago Seven
After Chicago, the Justice Department meted out conspiracy charges in connection with the violence at Chicago and gave birth to the Chicago Eight, which consisted of Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayden, David Dellinger, Rennie Davis, John Froines, Jerry Rubin, Lee Weiner, and Bobby Seale.[35] In February 1970, the Chicago Conspiracy defendants were convicted on various charges and sentenced for contempt of court by Judge Julius Hoffman. The convictions were eventually reversed on appeal.[35]
You can jusge which was more odeous, the rioters or the Chicago "style" of dealing with opponents which is still going on today. Pro- health "reform" groups, funded with our tax dollars, are gearing up for new Armies of the Night (a Norman Mailer tract about the demonstrations in 1967 at the Pentagon and used as a "how-to" manual for the DNC in 1968) tactics for the nation.
I call a tie! The unions will side with the rioters, but act like Chicago thugs to break any opposition. Welcome to hope and change.

Chicken Little Cries Racism
PATERSON WHINES: 'RACISM!'
Gov. Paterson has played the race card.
The state's first black governor yesterday blamed his political woes -- and those of President Obama -- on a white-dominated media that he accused of taking part in an "orchestrated" attack campaign.
"We're not in the post-racial period," Paterson said in a freewheeling interview on the liberal talk-radio station WWRL. "My feeling is it's being orchestrated, it's a game, and people who pay attention know that."
Some people will never get it.

Lockerbie Bomber Served Less Than 12 Days For Each Murder Victim
Lockerbie bomber flies home to die after being released
Al-Megrahi pleaded to die with his family in Libya in an emotional letter to Mr MacAskill. He said: “I am terminally ill with no prospect of recovery.
“I am a family man: first and foremost I am a son, husband, father and grandfather. It would be my wish to return to my family to spend the short time that I have left with them.
“I have been separated from my family as a result of what I consider to be an unjust conviction. I have tried to bear that with a degree of equanimity and dignity.”
Tell me, is that a flat rate of 72 virgins or 72 virgins for each death? Being a family man, he probably wants to know. Being compassionate and all, he wants to be near mama and the kids just before he gets his

Obama: Republican conspiracy out to kill health reform
President Obama took to the conservative airwaves Thursday to charge that Republican leaders are engaged in a vast right-wing conspiracy to kill health care reform in order to repeat the 1994 mid-term takeover of Congress, which followed the defeat of President Clinton's reform plan.
The birth of a conspiracy so deep, wide spread and dangerous that Hillary announced it on TV to defend her husband after he lied to a grand jury.
"This is — the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president."

Kennedy Seeks To Change Law He Instigated To Ensure Liberal MA Senator
Now that Kennedy appears to vacating the seat soon he wants the now Democrat governor, Deval L. Patrick, to change the law back to what it had been before Kennedy got it changed to ensure a liberal Democrat be seated.
Kennedy, looking ahead, urges that Senate seat be filled quickly
Seeks law change for interim post
Patrick said in a statement: “It’s typical of Ted Kennedy to be thinking ahead and about the people of Massachusetts, when the rest of us are thinking about him. Diane and I continue to pray for the restoration of the senator’s health and the comfort of his family.’’
If only Ted had thought ahead about the people of Massachusetts at Chappaquiddick.

Zach Space Knows He's In Trouble
Space says he's not ducking critics on health care
"I think some people are trying to create this impression that I have been running away from having town-hall meetings, and that's just not true," Space said. "I've been holding telephone town halls, where I can talk to, like, 1,500 people. I can't reach everybody; I have a 16-county district. But I have been able to reach 5,000 to 10,000 people with the telephone town halls on various subjects, people who call in with questions or who listen in."
He said in past years he was discouraged when only a few people would show up to announced town-hall meetings, so telephone town halls have been a more effective way of connecting with his constituents.
If you're not up to the job, don't run for office again. Which is a splendid idea.
Cash For Clunkers A Failure
As planned, the only beneficiary are the unions which paid Obama for a seat at the board table. Oh, and Japanese car makers.
Car Dealers Reviews reported, via Free Republic:
The National Automobile Dealers Association is urging the federal government to begin shutting down the Cash for Clunkers program immediately.
In a statement released Wednesday evening, NADA said that, given the rapid pace at which deals are being done, it will be difficult to say when the program’s funds may run out.
But Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said earlier Wednesday that all dealers would be reimbursed.
However, the NADA said, in its statement, that the group had “confirmed elsewhere” that dealers would not get paid if cash ran out.
Although, according to press reports, Secretary LaHood stated today that “there will be no car dealer that won’t be reimbursed,” NADA believes that this is based on DOT’s view that sufficient funds remain available. It is important to note that NHTSA has confirmed elsewhere that if the program’s money runs out before a dealer is reimbursed, that dealer will not be paid.
In a survey nearly 800 dealers,
97% of dealers who responded, say the government is not reimbursing fast enough
13% of dealers have dropped out the program because the government is not reimbursing fast enough and overall concern payment problems
87% percent of dealers are concerned the money will be exhausted
3% of CARS program deals have been reimbursed 66% of dealers have not received one payment from the government
25% of dealers are experiencing servere cash flow problems that require short-term loans to fix 11% of submitted applications have been approved (though dealers still are waiting for the money)
16% of submitted applications have been rejected
55% of dealers are not confident they will get reimbursed for every deal
40% do not want the program to continue, even if changes are made to the CARS program
If the respondents to this poll are found out we should see another round of dealerships being closed. That is the Chicago style.

AARP Losing Tens Of Thousands Of Members
Thousands Quit AARP Over Health Reform
CBS News has learned that up to 60,000 people have cancelled their AARP memberships since July 1, angered over the group's position on health care.
Elaine Guardiani has been with AARP for 14 years, and said, "I'm extremely disappointed in AARP."
Retired nurse Dale Anderson has 12 years with AARP and said, "I don't wanna be connected with AARP."
Many are switching to the American Seniors Association, a group that calls itself the conservative alternative as CBS News Investigative Correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports.
Last week alone, they added more than 5,000 new members. Our camera was there Friday when the mail came.
Letters were filled with cut-up AARP cards.
...
AARP says for a group with 40 million members that adds hundreds of thousands each month, losing 60 thousand is just a drop in the bucket. But to the much smaller American Seniors Association it's a flood.

Zach Space Meet Eric Massa
Will they vote against the interests of their constituents again, especially for something as high profile as ObamaCare as Massa of New York says he will do?
Rep. Massa: I will vote against the interests of my district
Representative Eric Massa (D- NY) addressed an intimate group of Netroots activists during their annual Netroots Nation gathering in Pittsburgh this weekend. Mr. Massa reiterated his support for a single payer health care bill. He discussed the risks he takes for wanting to support such a measure in his "right wing Republican district."
According to Swing State Project, Mr. Massa won his 2008 race by two percentage points. The district's voting pattern index (PVI) is a Republican +5 seat. The National Republican Congressional Committee has the upstate New York congressman in their sights for 2010 along with 69 other House Democrats as reported by Politico. The transcript is below, and check out the corresponding video above.
MASSA: I’m not going to vote for 3200 as it’s currently written. Step one, I will vote for a single payer option or a bill that does have a medicare coupled public option, which we don’t have right now. If my town hall meetings turn into the same media frenzies and ridiculousness, because every time that happens we lose. We lose another three million people in America. They see that happening and negate us.
PARTICIPANT: It changes America.
MASSA: Every time that occurs. So what happens in my town hall meetings frankly is important, because I am in one of the most right wing Republican districts in the country, and I’m not asking you guys to go back to wherever and send people to me. This is a generic statement of what can I do? Well that’s one thing we can do.
PARTICIPANT: So if we got your meetings to sixty forty, you’d vote…and there was single payer in a bill you would vote for it?
MASSA: Oh absolutely I would vote for single payer.
PARTICIPANT: If there was sixty forty sentiment in the room?
MASSA: Listen, I tell every audience I’m in favor of single payer.
PARTICIPANT: If there was eighty twenty in the room?
MASSA: If there was a single payer bill?
PARTICIPANT: And there was a single payer….
MASSA: I will vote for the single payer bill.
PARTICIPANT: Even if it meant you were being voted out of office?
MASSA: I will vote adamantly against the interests of my district if I actually think what I am doing is going to be helpful.
(inaudible participants' comments regarding the "interests" of the district statement from Mr. Massa)
Massa: I will vote against their opinion if I actually believe it will help them.
That he said this at a NetRoots' meeting makes it even more apparent that there are those that don't care what Americans think.
