Prevost House

The Prevost House was originally constructed in 1877 for Nick Prevost, an Anderson businessman. It is significant for its architectural design. The house was constructed in the Renaissance Revival style along the lines of the German Pavilion at the Centennial Exhibition of 1876 in Philadelphia. Prevost and his wife visited the Exhibition and were impressed by the Pavilion designed by H.J. Schwarzmann. The house is a one-story, frame residence on a high brick foundation. The building has a central, rectangular block with flanking wings to the east and west. In its original configuration, the façade was characterized by a central, three-bay, arcaded portico based on Renaissance precedents, with engaged Tuscan colonettes in the piers, semicircular arches with pronounced keystones and a bracketed cornice. The central block of the house has a low-hipped roof sheathed in standing seam metal. Simulated quoins define the corners of the block. Each of the wings has a lower roofline, consistent with the portico’s cornice. Single stuccoed brick chimneys with octagonal caps rise within each wing. The details of the façade were originally defined by contrasting paint. The house has undergone several significant alterations since its construction. The original outbuildings have been destroyed. Listed in the National Register July 10, 1984. The Nick Prevost House is no longer extant. Removed from the National Register December 8, 2005.

I often wonder if reporters, editors and their enabling public ever cringe about the obvious and provable lies their push and publicize. Nah, I don't wonder anymore. Their lies have become a whole new genre in fiction and humor, but they think people are laughing with them.

Over the last week while in NY I had little time to watch the news except for on the run and in airports. It became apparent to me that the Tea Party, Republicans and conservatives had fallen fast into a vast canyon of despair of their own making. Each broadcast told of impending meltdowns, wavering support and Republican congressmen being pummeled by constituents. I was surprised there wasn't a list of suicides committed or pending.

A delightful, but delusional relative recounted with bated breath of her nemesis, Paul Ryan, being booed and attacked by angry constituents, especially older constituents. I was reminded of the violent outbursts and actions of "Pee Party" (as in Depends) over the last few years and how turn around is fair play. She had actually printed out articles for me! I listened earnestly as she quoted articles from AFSME, SEIU, the socialist Militant newspaper, Think Progress, Democratic Underground, the New York Times and many more.

It all reminded me of when I first became a researcher and found that all was not as the main street media said it was. In fact, that all wasn't really connected to reality because political agendas had become so ingrained in journalism that journalism was no longer a career that involved actual reporting. One angry man who once was the town crank became a movement. One child who had the bad luck to do what they knew they shouldn't became a cause célèbre. It reminded me of the misattributed quote (to Josef Stalin) that "Death of one man is a tragedy. Death of a million is a statistic." 


The meme has grown to a few paid thugs stationed at a few political events being held up as proof that the public is completing yet another 180 and now understand that progressive and foolhardy policy is actually what they want. It's deja vu all over again. Only without FDR, LBJ and WJC.

Shell Oil Company has announced it must scrap efforts to drill for oil this summer in the Arctic Ocean off the northern coast of Alaska. The decision comes following a ruling by the EPA’s Environmental Appeals Board to withhold critical air permits. The move has angered some in Congress and triggered a flurry of legislation aimed at stripping the EPA of its oil drilling oversight.

It doesn't matter to Obama if gas is $5 a gallon, in fact he wants the cost of gas and all other energy sources to go as high as possible.

Polls And Reporting Be Damned. America Is Feeling The Financial Heat Of Failure.

Everybody has a poll. Most polls are biased. At best they are simply a snapshot of the moment if they are done correctly. Reporters like pollsters let their bias seep into their stories and like polls their stories are at best snapshots of that point in time. In the end the polls and the reports are merely bias put to print.

Any lawmaker in a swing district can expect to take criticism from his right flank at a town hall meeting. But at an American Veterans outpost tucked deep in the Pocono Mountains this week, freshman Republican Rep. Lou Barletta took heat from every direction — from Democrats angry with the tax cuts in the GOP budget, to conservatives who thought he caved on the last continuing resolution vote, to a precocious 16-year-old critical of the lawmaker’s environmental record.

First Barletta was told “not to be steadfast in Paul Ryan’s Republican plan,” to “bend a little, work and come together to pass something that’s agreeable to everybody.” Moments later, another constituent told him, “I don’t want you to bend; I want you to stand firm” on spending, even if that means a national debt default.

Jimmy Carter allowed America to taste failure and he paid the price of defeat at the polls. Obama is facing the same problem and the problem for Obama is that the problems of his administration's doing are getting worse. People do not feel positive about their children's future and they even believe their immediate future is bleak.

Voters are giving congressmen hell. The left wants to protect their handouts. The right wants to cut. The left believes that government has a duty to give, not just protect, but give. The right doesn't believe in this.

It all doesn't mean anything because the left will lose their handouts and the right will see programs they like cut to the bone. These things may happen soon, which is doubtful, or they will happen after the next election, but they have to happen. We, as a nation, have spent ourselves into poverty which is a longer way of spelling debt.

Voters across the middle are getting incredibly angry over those things not in their control while the left is getting angry because Obama hasn't gone all the way to a government that does all and those on the right will say, "I told you so" because Obama is an abject failure as president.

Polls and news reporting cannot capture the reality because most have no desire to do so.

Who could afford such clothes? Warren Buffett and Bill Gates? Yes, but they don’t look like they spend so much money on clothes. The Post names a few customers:
