Ah, the Tea Party is really small, in fact, merely "a sliver of opinion on the extreme end of politics." So, is the Tea Party larger or smaller than the sliver of opinion on the extreme end of politics of, say, the media arm of the DNC which is also known as the mainstream media?

Is the tea party one of the most successful scams in American political history?
Before you dismiss the question, note that word "successful." Judge the tea party purely on the grounds of effectiveness and you have to admire how a very small group has shaken American political life and seized the microphone offered by the media, including the so-called liberal media.
But it's equally important to recognize that the tea party constitutes a sliver of opinion on the extreme end of politics receiving attention out of all proportion with its numbers.
Yes, there is a lot of discontent in America. But that discontent is better represented by the moderate voters who expressed quiet disillusionment to President Obama at the CNBC town hall meeting on Monday than by tea party ideologues who proclaim the unconstitutionality of the New Deal and everything since.
I especially love Mr. Dionne's characterization of the woman who expressed quiet disillusionment as a "moderate voice." So moderate that she worries about her two daughters and their continued attendance at private school, but the president answered her by discussing credit card laws, pre-existing conditions and stating that she probably wanted new shoes.
That her statement does not constitute "a sliver of opinion on the extreme end of politics" is obvious. It is also obvious that her sentiments represents a majority of Americans including the very sizable number of Tea Party members. If that is a scam then the meaning of scam has been turned on its head, but isn't that the reality of E. J. Dionne?

How Badly Does Obama Not Want To Be President?
His first first-grade gaffe, that I remember, was his 57 states comment which even school children used to know as wrong. He has had so many that they have become tiresome, but his newest is so ignorant and pandering that it is embarrassing. Many pundits have already commented that his staff should be checking these things before they are put on TOTUS for the One to read, but my comment is that he should have spotted it and fired the moron that slipped this gem into a speech. That he didn't makes him a moron.
Other pundits have spoken of Obama's refusal to utter the words "by their creator" in his speech. That is not news. He omitted the words on purpose.
He spoke of "inalienable rights" as if that was a concept of Mexico, Spain or any other culture in the Americas. First, "Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land," Obama said to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Spain got free of Mexico in 1821. For kids currently in school this is important, because 1821 was more than a few years after the founding of the United States of America let alone since the idea of an America first popped into the heads of our founders. Plus, there was that dust up at the Alamo in 1836 where rights were being taken away by Mexico and the different peoples of the land weren't sharing too many values with the dictator of Mexico.
So, was it Antonio de Padua María Severino López de Santa Anna y Pérez de Lebrón that spoke of "inalienable rights" as he watched the dead men of the Alamo burned? Possibly Geronimo? Oh, that's right it was Tommy Jefferson and his friends batting around that phrase. And they did so long before anyone else was pandering with phrases like, "Can't we all just get along."
I think our president isn't making any long term plans for more glittery parties post 2012, because he either knows he isn't up to the job of being president or he has already grown tired of it. If he is, whew, whoever bestowed "Constitutional Scholar" on him should be fired immediately. I may be stretching here, but I hope that Obama knows of the link between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Maybe he thinks that if Jefferson thought it important that Jefferson would've put a hyper-link in the Constitution. Just a thought.

What a loser. What a candidate so out of touch with what is going on in America. What a woman so desperate to cling to the little power she may have.
I was actually planning to go work for O'Donnell. I think I will go work to organize grassroots support against Murkowski because she is exactly what is wrong with the Republican establishment.
Murkowski is a whining little entitlement loser.
I will work, since she has announced a NRSC loser position, to defeat her. Not just defeat her, embarrass her, by electing Miller.

Time For A Break - Time For The Young Rascals
Okay, I've been traveling all over doing what I love to do which is politics. I know, I know, I leave all of you without my wit and wisdom, but a guy gotta do what a guy gotta do, but time slows (or speeds) when deadlines are set and hotel rooms all look alike after a while.
Time for the music I had burst into my head somewhere just east of nowhere, a little south of I'm Lost Again and dap smack in the middle of no radio signal land.
Not The Rascals, not Rascal Flats, but the original blue-eyed soulsters THE YOUNG RASCALS!
Three Eyetalians and a WASP from Jersey, but no bass player. When I first started drumming I used to try to play and look like Dino Danelli, but I couldn't hold the sticks like him, I had kinky hair and I was fat. Oh well, I got better, lost a ton of weight and Jimi Hendrix occurred. Viola, I had a better chance at cool. That most of our audiences were stoned increased my odds dramatically. At least until they crashed.

It's one thing to duck your constituents on a daily basis, but how does he keep ducking Obama, his president and party leader. You'd think that Zack is embarrassed by Obama.
Nowhere to be seen was another Democrat from Ohio, Rep. Zack Space, who was dealing with a "personal family matter," according to his campaign. Not that it was likely to matter - Space skipped an appearance with Obama in nearby Columbus last month, choosing instead to drive around his district, campaigning on his own.
Driving around his district and campaigning on his own. Zack? Huh? Zack knows where Ohio is? I'm thinking Zack was driving around listening to Cheryl Crow at top volume allowing his self allotted one a day square to gently touch his cheek for every high note. You know, to wipe away the tear.

A company has sued Republican U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle, claiming she reprinted two Las Vegas Review-Journal articles on her campaign website without permission.
I am amazed at the tin ear decisions of the LVR-J and the bait and switch legal maneuvers of Righthaven to harass bloggers, but for them to get in the gutter with Harry Reid is more than a tad political.
If you lay down with rats you gonna get bit. In this case the trifecta of stupid, which is Reid, LVR-J and Righthaven, deserve each other in their backroom deals.

Russ & Barack Secret Meeting Place Finally Set For Milwaukee
A secret and anonymous source has said that Barack and Russ negotiated a secret meeting which would avoid any mention by the press. The same source stated that last minute instructions to the meeting would be placed in a box of tissues next to the teleprompter and that only the president should read them

Unfortunately, the president couldn't figure out which teleprompter would tell him what to do. At this point other secret sources say the meeting is in jeopardy.
An intrepid, though unnamed secret, source within the Feingold campaign supplied photographs showing the meeting place only after having been assured that the images would not publicly be shown until they were out of town due to "pressing personal problems." Follow up investigations found an empty apartment and disconnected telephones. Near midnight an unnamed witness in sunglasses at the unnamed source's former apartment stated that he had never seen anyone fitting the description of the anonymous source. He also stated that he had never heard of Renegade, Renaissance nor Rosebud and Radiance.

Murkowski, like Crist of Florida, might be busy proving that they are little republican in the Republican Party that believe only in themselves and are only out for themselves. That the NRSC is assisting her in undermining real Republicans in Alaska is a sign of bureaucratic bloatedness and comfort in positions they feel are no longer answerable to Republican voters nationwide.
300,000 - 500,000 people in front of the Lincoln Memorial feel differently. The left is paying close attention to that rally to find imagined racism and any other fault they can find. The Republican power elites seem to not only have not heard of the rally, but seem to have forgotten where the Lincoln Memorial is sited. If they were to find the memorial they'd be able to read Lincoln's words and then possibly find their way back to believing in what the Republican Party stands for.
If they don't know where the Lincoln Memorial is they just have to remember the next time they go to the Public Affairs Office for the US Mint for some coin, that they continue on west to their favorite, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Then hop back on Independence Ave going west until they see the Lincoln Memorial on the right. Maybe it might be more simple to just ask any tourist in town to guide them.
Once there they will find Lincoln quotes such as, "Allow all the governed an equal voice in the government, and that, and that only, is self-government," which is actually part of this quote, "I have quoted so much at this time merely to show that, according to our ancient faith, the just powers of governments are derived from the consent of the governed. Now the relation of master and slave is pro tanto a total violation of this principle. Allow all the governed an equal voice in the government, and that, and that only, is self-government."
Remember the "just powers of government" part of the quote if remembering all of it is just too much.

It may actually be that "thousands" listen to NPR coast to coast. There were a tad more than thousands at the "Restoring Honor" rally in DC. 300,000 to 500,000 people turned up in the Federal City for the rally. There are no crowd estimates for those who may or may not be listening to NPR.

The left is angry that such men of color would try to "steal" the heritage of the Civil Rights movement, especially when they speak of Jesus. They left wants Jesus to be a communist and MLK to be agnostic when they want to use them for their political ends.

That people that want less government intrusion, less power and less spending are the problem, unlike the left.

I wonder if sociology students are upset when creationists are forced to listen to the evolution theory in government supported classes or are confronted with a belief they disagree with in museums on the National Mall that spout evolution as fact?

Ethnography, a subjective narrative based on one's bias, is considered a scientific research by those that agree with its findings. An example might be, "Jews act badly, in my opinion, towards Palestinians, ergo my bias against Jews and for Palestinians is correct."

APB: Zack Space Missing Again!
Zack wasn't at the OEC when they found he had made false statements in campaign ads.
Zack announced mucho bucks for broadband access. From where he announced nobody knows. He must have been out scouting placement of lines because he just announced it, but wasn't there to announce it in person.
Zack might be at Ground Zero doing inspections because he hasn't been around to state his position on the subject. Maybe he was in Las Vegas chatting up Harry Reid on the subject.
Zack might also beal so chatting up the SEIU and other previous union supporters about his brave vote against government health care. Or was his vote against the fact that the bill didn't go far enough? $25,000 is $25,000 and it beats having to actually meet with constituents and ask for donations.
Zack might be out there helping coal miners dig a little bit as contrition for screwing them out of their jobs by supporting Cap and Trade. Maybe. He hasn't been seen talking to his voters or giving them advice on how to pay the thousands of extra dollars in taxes to pay for it. Maybe that is what he's talking to the coal miners about. Well, that and how they're going to pay extra being out of work and all.
Wait! We found Zack! At least we found where he has spent some of his money. He is attacking people that disagree with him because they don't live in the district except they obviously know where the district is. Maybe Zack was the one filming. The video is taken from far away and is pretty shaky. Distant and shaky? Maybe we really have found Zack.
Maybe Zack is hiding out at Bob Gibbs rallies. It's not like anyone would recognize him. It's tough actually talking to constituents, especially when it takes so much time away from trolling Washington DC for campaign donations and support to the tune of $1,115,303.

The investigations reflect the tangled politics surrounding the immigration debate. The criminal probe is led by Dennis K. Burke, the U.S. attorney in Phoenix who was a top aide to Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
Two of Arpaio's attorneys, Robert N. Driscoll and Asheesh Agarwal, were officials in the Justice Department's civil rights division in the George W. Bush administration. They denied that the sheriff, a Republican who has been reelected four times since 1992, has been uncooperative or has engaged in racial profiling, misusing money or targeting political enemies.
"The sheriff's office is cooperating fully with the grand jury investigation and has complete confidence that the inquiry will clear it of any wrongdoing," Agarwal said. "The office has always fulfilled its responsibilities truthfully, honorably, and in full compliance with state and federal law."

Madam Pelosi Miffed Over Ground Zero Mosque Opposition, Wants Americans Investigated
Madam Nana is miffed. She wants the Ground Zero Mosque built so we can see what's in it. Bloomberg attacks salt, smoke, fat and other personal peccadilloes, but not murderers and Islamofascists nor does he seem to interested in bedbugs, muggers and common thugs patrolling his city. Why should he when a few kind words for and some harsh words against those speaking about the proposed mosque near ground zero might be to his profit.

'Change' Failed So "Let's Reach For Hope."
In a nod to Democrats past Obama is attempting a "We have nothing to fear but fear itself," shtick to buttress his fading message of hope as the pushback against his "change" grows across America.

Using very catchy metaphors such as his one about Republicans and driving: put the car in "D" (as in Democrat) if you want to move ahead, "R" if you want to go backward, Obama is trying to rally Democrats to head off what they fear (oops!) will be a disastrous midterm election. They hope (oh yeah!) that with Obama in full gear campaign mode and without the burdens of actually being president that Obama will re inject his stump magic into campaigns.
If I were a Democrat running next November I'd be afearing what Obama asked for and was given by pliant Democrats in Congress. The real change wrought by Obama and Congress is a shattered economy that will only get worse and the only hope for Democrats is that November isn't a total blowout.

Obama Land Grab
Some form of government owns approximately 30% of the United States. The federal government owns approx 90% of Nevada, 70% of Alaska and so forth. We could balance the budget if the Fed sold off these lands. Sorry Teddy, but the government should not be in the business of owning land unless it is used for governance, roads or defense as examples.

In April, President Obama issued a memorandum outlining his “21st century strategy for America’s great outdoors.” It was addressed to the Interior Secretary, the Agriculture Secretary, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency and the chair of the Council on Environmental Quality. The memo calls on the officials to conduct “listening and learning sessions” with the public to “identify the places that mean the most to Americans, and leverage the support of the Federal Government” to “protect” outdoor spaces. Eighteen of 25 planned sessions have already been held. But there’s much more to the agenda than simply “reconnecting Americans to nature.”
The federal government, as the memo boasted, is the nation’s “largest land manager.” It already owns roughly one of every three acres in the United States. This is apparently not enough. At a “listening session” in New Hampshire last week, government bureaucrats trained their sights on millions of private forest land throughout the New England region. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack crusaded for “the need for additional attention to the Land and Water Conservation Fund — and the need to promptly support full funding of that fund.”

Environmentalists Causing The Worsening Blackouts.
And they are just making the problem of the lack of power worse.
U.S. electricity blackouts skyrocketing
Smart grids, modernization and gimmicks are what are being offered in the article (I encourage you to read it), but what is not being offered is reality. The United States needs more power plants, more refineries and more sources of power such as nuclear, coal and oil. The very things that so-called environmentalists have prevented for 20 plus years. And in those 20 plus years, through government interference and predatory lawsuits, the cost of producing power has risen astronomically as the avenues to produce any viable amounts of new power has shrunk.
Just as they have been doing to the health care industry these groups have emplaced rules, regulations and legislation to make citizens suffer financially for their energy wants and needs so that citizens will see no other way out, but to bow to the dictates of the government. That is not freedom, but tyranny. It is tyranny no matter how benevolent the tyranny believes itself to be. And health care reform, Cap and Trade and the energy crisis are just the beginning.

So, a friend's father passed away and a month later they have a get together. The First Lady traveled to Spain using Secret Service personnel, White House staffers and represented the United States to the King of Spain. Never mind that the hotel cost enough a night to pay the monthly rent or mortgage for many Americans out of work right now.
Losing a parent is a hurtful thing and Mrs. Obama has every right, in fact a duty, to console her friend, but not on the taxpayer dime which spent at the rate it was spent is like spitting in the eye of every family going through financial difficulty at the moment. Never mind that the hotel cost enough a night to pay the monthly rent or mortgage for many Americans out of work right now.
Losing a parent is a hurtful thing and Mrs. Obama has every right, in fact a duty, to console her friend, but not on the taxpayer dime which spent at the rate it was spent is like spitting in the eye of every family going through financial difficulty at the moment. If the First Family and the White House don't get that they are not tone deaf, they are deaf, dumb and blind. Which, in fact, may be their only excuse.

BP Buries Obama Plan For Overbearing Enviro Legislation
Obama, ET AL, proclaimed it the worst environmental disaster ever for America. They did so as an intro for their endangered environmental bill to ensure its passage.
It is not the worst environmental disaster for our country. It is laughably short of that moniker. It is laughable even by Obama's record which is laughable to the rest of us suffering under this cartoon regime.
The bill can now only be passed by a pitiful and laughably sad lame duck Congress. And repealed by a new Congress.
BP has handed to Obama and friends their own rear ends.
A win by the good guys.

Heights Don't Scare Some
Margaret Bourke-White, one of my favorite photographers, took amazing photographs of people and the world they lived in. This is one, taken by her assistant, of her shooting an urban landscape from atop a modern gargoyle attached near the top of the Chrysler Building in Manhattan . She was fearless.
Assistants do not always have it easy. The one above wasn't as far out as Bourke-White, but pretty darned close. Once I was with my boss, I was an apprentice, because his real assistant became ill and could not go with him to photograph Machu Picchu. I was in the plane with him as he prepared to shoot when he yelled grab my belt, pointing to the small of his back. I did. He then signaled the pilot who immediately turned the small plane, no windows, on its side and he photographed straight down from above Machu Picchu .
It scared the beJesus out of me.
Later, when I asked why he hadn't told me what he had planned he told me that I probably would have had doubts. I then asked him about what would have happened if I couldn't hold on and he replied that the shot was more important to think about. I then drank way too much of the local brew. The photographs were breath taking.
BTW, the pilot, on looks alone, wouldn't have been able to even get an interview with Wings of Herb Airlines. On his best day. But he took off, flew and landed. For $35.00. Which included gas.
