Punch happy Harry Reid ain't happy. The AMA, which has become the American Malpratice Association, told Reid they had 27 Republican senators in their pocket to help pass the latest mathematically challenged bandaid to help pass Health Reform.
Reid: AMA Promised Me GOP Healthcare Votes
The AMA allegedly promised Reid that it could deliver 27 Republican votes for the legislation, according to two Senate Democratic lawmakers, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Reid needs those GOP votes because at least five members of his party have vowed to vote against the doctors' fix.
Good for the 27 Republicans. I hope they stay with their Party against this medical atrocity. Their political life will be on life support if they vote with the Demos on this.
How about more governance and less government.

Lets Get Ready To Rumble Reid Ready To Bribe For Health Care Reform
Harry Reid is doing what he does best, cutting deals in dark alleys, far from the view of the public, to thwart the will of the people for political gain.

Nevada would get help with its Medicaid bills. The elderly in Florida and New York would receive additional Medicare benefits. And workers in so-called high-risk professions such as firefighting and construction would get a break on a new insurance tax.
Those are provisions that Senate Democrats, including Majority Leader Harry Reid, put in an $829 billion health-care bill to shield constituents from measures intended to pay for the biggest overhaul of the medical system in four decades.
The Mr. Rogers of politics is in trouble at home, but can he be stopped before he destroys again?

3rd Party Cranks Are Monstrous
I was thinking back to my youth which was somewhere between the Stoned Age and Jimmy Hendrix, but I repeat myself, because I bought a copy of The Fountainhead for my daughter. While reading the book she asked some questions that were formed in college about Rand and Libertarian thought. I replied that Ayn Rand's Objectivism and Libertarian thought were apples and oranges, but my daughter stated that her professor had stated that they were the same with a sneer in his voice.
This discussion came round to the disagreements I had had when Republicans last held Congress (that they acted like drunk Democrats in a Tijuana whorehouse with our checkbook) and suggested that I look into the Libertarian Party.
3rd Partys are a nuisance, a distraction and will be the death of true Republican conservatism. They are monstrous cranks who want to eat their cake and have it too. The Libertarian Party is like a church without faith. That Libertarians share some values with conservatism is true, but libertarians don't have the faith or the backbone to complete or maintain a free republic.
So, I went digging, heavy work that it is, with a mouse:

The issue is so serious today, that to form a new party based in part on half-baked ideas, and in part on borrowed ideas—I won’t say from whom—is irresponsible, and in today’s context, nearly immoral.

Movie 'Stars'
I found an interesting correlation this weekend. After watching the Ohio State Buckeyes refuse to play and then the New York Giants take a drubbing they deserved I decided to see if there were any movies on any of the 100's of channels I receive.
When pressing the 'info' button to get more information about a particular movie, I could see a 'star' rating for each movie.
The more 'stars' a movie had, I found, the more the movie sucked. I am talking so much suction that a 4 'star' movie sucked life right out of the room.
Upon investigation I found my best cinematic option was some Woody Allen movie. I would pluck my eyes and ears out before that option would be employed, so I decided to paint the ceiling trim again.
There was some good news. The Yankees won in the 13th (at 1:07 AM) and Kasey Kahn came in second and I finished the trim.

A Hands on Education
An innovative college in Charleston, S.C., teaches the forgotten arts of preservation
John Paul Huguley won't be happy that this article begins with him.
He'll tell you that it's the students at the American College of the Building Arts who are the real story. But he was the one who started the Charleston, S.C., school 12 years ago—the first in the country with a four-year program teaching trades that seem to have vanished from the modern world. Timber framing. Stone carving. Ironworking. An entire curriculum aimed at equipping a generation of students with the skills needed to preserve America's historic heritage.
Huguley, 39, is as much an entrepreneur as he is a preservationist. In 2000, he purchased Charleston's 1802 jail—a 22,000-square-foot facility that sat vacant for more than half a century and was threatened with demolition—and turned it into the centerpiece of a fledgling school. Not only do students today attend classes in the jail, where Union troops were held during the Civil War, they are also using what they learn to help restore this neglected vestige of Charleston's history.

If it increases government spending, vote against it.
If it increases government power, vote against it.
What part of this do Republicans in Congress not understand?
Less spending. More freedom.
This isn't just about TARP, Stimulus or socialized medicine and scads of fascist programs like National Service and the arts.
It includes pork.
Most Republicans support our mission in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most Democrats do not. To Democrats, these missions which defend the United States by eradicating terrorists and free 50 plus million people, take away money for their 50 plus years power surge. Money for troops means less money for power. Power, in Democrat terms, means higher taxes for even more money, more government control couched in do-goodedness and control of the message that points out the wrongness of not infiltrating every aspect of our lives, if only to help us, by righting a perceived socialital slight.
If the Kennedy family (and their servant, Kennedy-lite Kerry) wants a quasi presidential museum for Ted, let them go ask the Kopechne's for the money. If Vitter and Landrieu want money for a Louisianna World War II Museum that duplicates efforts across the nation, let them ask the alumni of the University of New Orleans, where they want to build, to pony up the cash.
If most Republicans support our mission in Iraq and Afghanistan, why are they stuffing the funding for our troops there with pork for Republican pet projects. Correct me if I'm wrong, but acting like big spending, corrupt and amoral Democrats got the Republican Party right where it belongs as back benchers whose opinions aren't asked for nor wanted by Democrats and voters alike. The latter because they feel that if Republicans are going to act like Democrats, why not vote for Democrats who are at least honest about their dishonesty. The former because Democrats don't like competition, there is only so much self righteousness and graft to go around.
Republicans, such as Snowe and Collins of Maine want $20 million in Humvee money for workers in Maine, Republican Cochran of Mississippi inserted 35 earmarks for $206 million in a Murthaean effort to "not cede the power of the purse to any administration." Hey, Thad, why not cede the power of the purse to the taxpayer?
Over all, $2.6 billion in pork was inserted via 778 pet projects. Many of these pet projects were inserted by Republicans and these projects take away from military operations and maintenance. That's guns and ammunition and things like training. Granted, many in Congress don't think these things are important, but that any Republican shares this view makes them hypocritical disgraces.

Power, in Democrat terms, means higher taxes for even more money, more government control couched in do-goodedness and control of the message that points out the wrongness of not infiltrating every aspect of our lives, if only to help us, by righting a perceived socialital slight.
If the Kennedy family (and their servant, Kennedy-lite Kerry) wants a quasi presidential museum for Ted, let them go ask the Kopechne's for the money. If Vitter and Landrieu want money for a Louisianna World War II Museum that duplicates efforts across the nation, let them ask the alumni of the University of New Orleans, where they want to build, to pony up the cash.
If most Republicans support our mission in Iraq and Afghanistan, why are they stuffing the funding for our troops there with pork for Republican pet projects. Correct me if I'm wrong, but acting like big spending, corrupt and amoral Democrats got the Republican Party right where it belongs as back benchers whose opinions aren't asked for nor wanted by Democrats and voters alike. The latter because they feel that if Republicans are going to act like Democrats, why not vote for Democrats who are at least honest about their dishonesty. The former because Democrats don't like competition, there is only so much self righteousness and graft to go around.
Republicans, such as Snowe and Collins of Maine want $20 million in Humvee money for workers in Maine, Republican Cochran of Mississippi inserted 35 earmarks for $206 million in a Murthaean effort to "not cede the power of the purse to any administration." Hey, Thad, why not cede the power of the purse to the taxpayer?
Over all, $2.6 billion in pork was inserted via 778 pet projects. Many of these pet projects were inserted by Republicans and these projects take away from military operations and maintenance. That's guns and ammunition and things like training. Granted, many in Congress don't think these things are important, but that any Republican shares this view makes them hypocritical disgraces.

DEMS Have No 'Fear' Of Gitmo Terrorists In US
Democrats appear to have no fear about terrorists coming to America, in fact they think it is a non-issue that only some in Washington, DC care about.
Republicans fail to stop Gitmo transfers into US
Democratic leaders had to push hard to win the vote because many Democrats two weeks ago had cast a nonbinding but politically safe vote against any Guantanamo detainee transfers. But several Democrats from swing districts said they saw little political risk on Thursday's vote.
"It's a nonissue. Inside the (Washington) Beltway stuff," said first-term Rep. Dan Maffei, D-N.Y. "People care about jobs, the economy, health care."
"I haven't had one person ask me about Guantanamo," said Rep. Baron Hill, D-Ind. He added that he does "not in the least" fear it as an issue in next year's elections.

First we must ask who they work for and, indeed, if they work at all. What is the job they do? How do they pay their mortgage and put food on the table? Who is their boss? I doubt there is a Best Practices chapter in their corporate charter, but who or which office checks on and maintains their professional integrity?

Besides both of these men are living in a plate glass house, it appears to me that they have caused more racial disharmony than they have ever cured. We can talk about Twana Brawley and we can talk about corporate extortion, but the subject here is racism and both of these men are race hustlers. They make their living off of racial tension.

America Is Doomed
Yes, America is doomed if this type of thinking continues.
Freedom of religion is no more, not even on public property, which if the constitution is to be believed, makes public property the safest place where there will be no restrictions on the expression of religion.
Children are subjected to zero tolerence rules by schools that ban aspirin and cub scout knives and, oh, there it is again, if a child or a teacher prays or expresses religion. Granted, it seems to be only Christianity that is subjected to these rules.
Now communities have become so PC, scared or just stupid. Case in point.

Obama Must Succeed In Afghanistan Because He Refuses To In Iraq
Obama cannot further succeed in Iraq because that would prove George W. Bush right. That's a given. If Obama proves Bush right, then what is left of the shreds of his base will simply disappear into the chimera covering the door named disappointment.
So, what is Obama going to do in Afghanistan and the region?
Well, he quietly added 13,000 support troops to the 21,000 he approved in March for service in Afghanistan. His generals want an additional 40,000, but Obama is fiddling for his "base" and for the morons that make up the leadership in congress. Add into the mix a bureaucracy that permeates everything from food servers, elevator operators that operate computerized elevators and all the way up to analyzers and the leadership of our covert operations. One is left with a president worse off than Bush because the bureaucracy openly hated of Bush, but cannot do so with Obama. That bureaucracy has become the true decision maker in our government, not the elected officials that we vote for and who doesn't listen to us anyway, but in a different way that the bureaucracy doesn't have to listen.
Obama needs to show he has some vision, any vision beyond community organizing, concerning Afghanistan and terrorism or he will fall to more ridicule than the ghost of Alphie "TNT" Nobel.
I have a nominal idea of what has to occur in Afghanistan, in fact I believe I'm right, but my phone ain't ringin' so I'm assuming it ain't him. So, from afar and in fly-over country I will offer this.
Why not win?
The United States helped the Mujaheddin to win over the Russians, but squandered that victory by no follow through allowing crude forces to tame the vacuum left over and then pacify the citizens of Afghanistan by allowing simple goods to be delivered and sold so people could feed their families. Napoleon. Food. A chance of victory.
Now, the U.S. military appears to be going through phase II of the late Mr. Johnson's war which allows bureaucrats and Obama to direct the effort in Afghanistan from thousands of miles away through the prism of political needs, not military necessities.
If the military asks for 40,000 more troops, why doesn't Obama ask back, why not 60,000? If 40,000 is good, why isn't 60,000 better? What will it take to militarily defeat the Taliban and to bring the Afghani citizens into the effort of helping us bring stability to the country and to some degree, the region.
Most Americans don't know, and don't know whether to care, that Afghanistan and Iraq are just the advertised disaster specials for upcoming stories that are are designed to drive fairly inconsequential political desires here in the United States. Inconsequential when compared to having limbs cut off, wives and daughters raped or killed and villages enslaved to ideologies they don't want or understand. I'm not sure if a cash for clunkers program was considered a necessity in Afghanistan, but I do know feeding a still alive family is a necessity for what's left of the adults in Afghanistan. New cars, not so much.
How inconsequential is Iran or the Chinese military buildup on a nuclear India's northern border? What could be the consequences of a blundering bully from Russia trying to resurrect its once not so-greatness in the region by clumsily stomping throughout? Is it consequential that SoS Clinton appeared to recap the nuclear genie in Pakistan or has she really put those weapons out of the reach of terrorists? How resolved are we to following and resolving these threads that do not fit the narrative that this president got elected on?
Does Obama understand that resolve is a value that transcends language?
One can say what they will of Israel, but Israel's resolve has impressed even their enemies. The United States enjoys no such respect. Once again, looking back to the late Mr. Johnson's war in Vietnam, the United States offered no and gave no follow through to the Republic of Vietnam's government. We left them holding the ball, hence, all of Vietnam is now communist and a model used to ridicule and defeat the United States in other theaters. Mr. Nixon's pinpointing of priorities in southeast Asia was a poor as Mr. Johnson's bombing target lists were in Vietnam. No resolve.
Our current lack of resolve in eastern Europe is squandering historic gains for freedom in the region made by past presidents, ergo the world. Poland wouldn't believe Obama if he said 'good morning' and they'd be right to believe as such. I'm hoping Obama understands the difference between resolve and back stabbing, but I wouldn't believe him if he said he did. Maybe Obama would get a better feel for the political reality outside the United States if Axlerod or someone would inform him that eating a Chicago Polish sausage is not an education in the needs and trust of the Polish nation. And sauerkraut on the wiener is not evidence of advanced thinking on such a situation.
We're in Afghanistan and Iraq for a long time.
The need to win militarily so we can win, thus stabilize, the hearts of Afghanistan to a truly safe and free Afghanistan is a long term necessity. It is a necessity to the emergence of freedom across the world, thus the spreading of peace, and it is a necessity to prove to potential allies that the United States can be trusted in the short and long term. Resolve in Afghanistan means not just winning militarily and then building roads, schools and hospitals, but resolve also means protecting Afghanis from a re-emergence of a Taliban by any other name and by bringing as many Afghans, as possible, into our current century of knowledge and the free flow of information.

No On Issue 2 And 3
It is quite simple, really.
Issue 2 adds another layer of government at a time when we should all be striping away layers of government and throwing them in the waste bin of failed modern history. The fact that the board is unnecessary and has little or no oversight makes it a no brainer.
Issue 3 is about gambling. 28 states have casino gambling within their borders. Casinos bring a lot of baggage, including corruption, prostitution, general crime and filth, which we don't need here in Ohio. If I want to gamble there are plenty of places to do so, elsewhere. Just because I go to WalMart once or twice a year doesn't mean I want to live next to one. If you're thinking NIMBY, you'd be right. I lived just outside Reno, have visited Las Vegas many times and watched the transformation of the strip and its effects on Atlantic City and it is ugly just outside the bright lights.

Wondered If 'Green' Is Bogus?
Soros, who has made billions by screwing those countries that do not do what he wishes, has decided that 'green' is the way to go. That makes 'green' the wrong way for those that work and try to improve life for themselves and those they know and love.
Soros is poison. He is a hateful creep that lurks around the dark corners of the world's economic systems so he can suck them dry.
Soros says aims to invest $1 Billion in green tech...
If Soros has decided that 'green' is the way to go, I will run the other way. Soros cries "power to the people"while he destroys governments, that he has made vulnerable so as to manipulate their currencies, just to make money, so he can then cry "those capitalists" hate the little people, to further enrich himself by emplacing a socialist government, which is more easy to manipulate economically and financially.
How much longer will "progressives", and "socialists" enrich this manipulator in the hopes he will continue to fund their agenda before they realize he is a radical only as long as he enriches himself, ultimately at their expense. Up close and speaking economically, Soros is as warm and fuzzy as a herpes sore that is offering an engagement ring to a weeping finger. Marry him and you are as diseased as him. That is pretty diseased. Pretty diseased for a long time. Time-wise, diseased until one dies a horrible death. His money is tainted.
If Soros has a soul, it is with a little "s".
