At least here in America. Halal can mean lawful or actions permitted by Shariah law without punishment imposed on the doer in many matters. We are not the Middle East. The right question is, is Islam as practiced worldwide, halal? Is it halal to keep your daughters stupid, pregnant and subservient? Is it halal to murder oneself to murder innocents for a bribe of 72 virgins? Is it halal to use death, dismemberment, beatings, threats, public humiliation and other crimes against others that one disagrees with?
If these things are halal then the hell with halal.
I bring this up because I received a question from a very thoughtful person concerning shariah or sharia law and the taking of America by Islam as they appear to be doing in Europe and Asia.
I think that we too will crumble without hardly a blink...what do you think?

I do not believe we will.
I have lived and worked in DC, LA, NYC, Boston, Taos and other places and there is a difference in thinking among certain circles. I feel sorry for those that, as a friend quipped, have become so urbane that they are insane. That said, there are differences between Butte, Paducah and Billings as well. Unlike Europe and Asia, America is ployglot both literally and figuratively. We are a united people in a united state of steel workers, bankers, soldiers, ranchers and doctors, lawyers and such.
The urbane insane love to quip that our founding fathers were just a bunch of dead white guys, ie, all alike. How intellectually shallow. To understand our founders is to know just how different they were except in the vision and determination to build a better nation. Some were wealthy, some became wealthy, some lost their fortune and some died. To say that Jefferson, Adams, Burr, Hamilton, Madison and Franklin were all the same is not ignorance, it is stupidity because even a fourth grader has readily at hand descriptions of each. Their differences were wedded together, often not too prettily, to shape a nation. Yes, they were that important that you can still see their prints in the mold of each new generation of Americans.
It is not that Americans want to be a Washington or a Jefferson, nor do they want to be a John Wayne, George Washington Carver, Clara Barton or a Ronald Reagan, but they do want to emulate them in passion, excellence and devotion to principle.
Islam in America so far has only had to deal with lawmakers, philosophers and the media. They best watch out when they start running into the America that remembers what America is and will become. America's greatest strength is not just its people, but those people's belief in God, liberty and their neighbors. That America will not swear or violate as they kill those that would harm America and the American dream.
To travel America is to be awed. Its beauty alone staggers the mind. Its differences all wedded together, sometimes not so prettily, is what makes it strong and wildly brilliant. The human race shares basic needs and desires, but here in America, as those basic needs are daily met, Americans reach for the sky in little and big ways.
My son, three generations out of the coal mines grinding down hope, is wrestling with the question of becoming a doctor, an economist or a rally race car driver. My father died young just as all the males in his family before him even though he was the first to graduate from high school, college and medical school and married "up" to my mother whose fore bearers settled Jamestown, Richmond and numerous other towns and regions. I think my family special, but they are not unique.
They are American.
Islamofacists cannot possibly understand that which is why they will fail in their violent hope of the caliphate including America. How could their tribal tradition ever hope to understand a southern lady marrying a hard scrabble boy from the streets of Akron whose son married an Italian girl from New York whose godfather was a Brooklyn cop named Leo?
Jen, we must always keep up our guard, but Tehran will never play in Peoria. If they ever try to go off Broadway they'll find that my uncle, Old Zeth, can still nail them in the eye at 10 yards with tabaccy or 100 yards with a single shot. It would be no matter to him except he'd have to put down his book and his pulled pork sandwich to deal with any halal crap which would make him cantankerous. Trust me. Church's Chicken Is Sharia?
I never liked Caribou Coffee, nor Starbucks, etal, but I love fried chicken. Church's has every right to do business as they see fit. I have every right to eat where I see fit. It won't be Church's.

It contained information about the popular coffee chain's growth strategy, an industry overview and its financials.
But Page 16 of its prospectus may have left some would-be investors scratching their heads:
"Our compliance with Shari'ah principles may make it difficult for us to obtain financing and may limit the products we sell."

Arcapita's diverse holdings, which include Southland Log Homes, Cypress Communications, Church's Chicken and American Pad & Paper, show that a company with strict investment guidelines can succeed in the United States, the world's biggest --- albeit secular --- economy.
Arcapita Bank, founded in 1997 as First Islamic Investment Bank, had $2.3 billion in assets at the end of June.

DNC Howard Dean Is A Liar
When asked about President Bush's comments that having US troops in Iraq for another 50 years would be acceptable was, "Maybe 100. That's be fine with me. As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, that'd be fine with me, and I hope it would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al-Qaida is training, recruiting, equipping and motivating people every single day."
The quote, and the real intent of the quote, is obviously about stability in the Middle East, but Howard Dean twists it to his intent which is furthered by using terrorist footage of American troops being blown up.
Instead of addressing the obvious, that the "religious" terrorists are murderers that do not represent the majority of Iraqis, Howard Dean uses the murderers as an example of what will be the norm for 100 years.
This is negative campaigning at its worst and Howard Dean and Democrats should be ashamed, but as a fellow member of the United Church of Christ with Moyers, Obama and Jeremiah Wright there is little possibility that shame will cross his mind.

One-upmanship As Reconciliation
Wright at the National Press Club is doing his judgemental one man show. Chastising those that have not read what he has read or have taken away from their reading a different interpretation Wright is giving his interpretation of what the world should be. His world is worse off for white men, especially white American men according to the Black Liberation theology of Wright.
After listening to his speech I envision a train wreck at which the survivors are desperately looking at what should be done to clean up the mess of scattered ruin while the train engineer smugly avers that the mess is better understood when people apologize for the inherent wrongness of the way the system was built.
Wright spoke defiantly, always switching the point to keep his opponents off kilter and made any question a personal attack on him, blacks and the black church. Wright spoke, smirked and ridiculed just as a smart ass punk does in the school yard. Wright answers only to his god and thus is infallible while saying Obama is only doing what politicians do which is to be a two-faced liar because that is politically expedient.
In short, Wright believes that all that has happened is really just an attack on the black church, but he is available to be Vice President.

Right On Cue Sharpton Enters Stage Left

This time people get shot for attempting to run down policemen and Al is enraged. Last time it was a 15 year old telling a horrible story which Sharpton ran with for all it was worth which was nothing when the story was found to be a hoax. Didn't stop Al. Won't stop Al. Al hates facts.

Don't tell the Democrats that now there are more people willing to oppose the Islamofascists. Unlike Pelosi, etal, these people know what it means to believe.

The Taliban and their al-Qaeda associates, in what they considered a master stroke, this year started to target the Western alliance's supply lines that run through Pakistan into Afghanistan.
Their focal point was Khyber Agency, in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas, a key transit point for as much as 70% of the alliance's supplies needed to maintain its battle against the Afghan insurgency.
The spectacular blowing up on March 20 of 40 gas tankers at Torkham - the border crossing in Khyber Agency into Afghanistan's Nangarhar province - sent shock waves through the North Atlantic Treaty Organization-led (NATO) coalition. So much so that it made a deal for some supplies to transit through Russia, a much more arduous route.
The Torkham success was followed by a number of smaller attacks, and the Taliban's plan appeared to be going better than they could have expected.
Then came this week's incident in which the Taliban seized two members of the World Food Program (WFP) in Khyber Agency, and it became obvious the Taliban had been betrayed, and all for the princely sum of about US$150,000.
Their Khyber dreams are now in tatters.

They lose if the locals believe they, their families and villages will be protected. It's also called trust. Something the Democrats and liberals cannot understand. Trust in America and our allies. While working I have the news on. Every few minutes there are ads asking Americans to make our country green. On the news there are stories explaining how "green" is making America better as if it is fact.

Bill Moyers provided a platform for Jeremiah Wright, a fellow pastor in the United Church of Christ, to continue his pr campaign to alter the meaning of his own words. As if words do not have meaning. BTW, I did say fellow pastor.
Rev. Wright says 'devious' forces behind use of his words against Obama
"I think they wanted to communicate that I am unpatriotic, that I am un-American, that I am filled with hate speech, that I have a cult at Trinity United Church of Christ," Wright said in the first interview he has granted since comments critical of U.S. policies surfaced on television and the Internet."
'And by the way, guess who goes to his church, hint, hint, hint?' That's what they wanted to communicate. They know nothing about the church."
Moyers is a member of Wright's denomination, the United Church of Christ.
Last year Moyers had a different tone.

Obama & The Amendments
Not a musical group as far as I know.
I have always loved listening to people whine about negative political advertising because the whiners are those that just got skewered. One step further, people whining about negative political advertising don't even know what real negative advertising is and what it is not.
If campaigner #1 does a bone head thing and campaigner #2 points it out, that is not negative advertising. If, after getting hit, campaigner #1 hits back with scurrilous nonsense, that is negative advertising
I am supporting John McCain, but I am allowed by the secret society of evil Republicans to disagree with him. Really, it's in the bylaws, but written only in lemon juice. John McCain is wrong about condemning the North Carolina ad about the ever entertaining Jeremiah Wright that shows Wright making a complete ass of himself. That they tie Obama to Wright is not by inference because it is a known fact. That Obama gave the "speech" not disowning Wright, but disowning his words is as disingenuous as Nana Pelosi lusting with love for the troops, but disowning their mission even though the objects of her lust are getting killed because of her public disowning of their mission. If Nana had done this on the streets of Little Italy while growing up in Baltimore a little old lady would have spanked her and told her to go home before she completely disgraced the neighborhood.
When the uproar over Wright started, Obama chief strategist David Axelrod asked his friends at Jasculca Terman -- a public affairs firm -- to advise Trinity on how to handle the crush of media coverage, and they did, pro bono. Jim Terman, the president of the firm, said, "We were not asked to provide our advice about the reported speech of Rev. Wright in Washington" and did not know about it until it was scheduled.
McCain denounced the North Carolina GOP party ad. "It's not the message of my campaign," he said. He wrote a letter to the state party chairman imploring them to pull the spot. The ad "degrades our civics," McCain said. The Republican National Committee also told the North Carolina party the ad was not "appropriate or helpful."
Obama, in Indiana, said he assumes if McCain "thinks that it's an inappropriate ad, that he can get them to pull it down since he's their nominee and standard bearer." The spot as I write this has not been pulled.
I'm pretty sure that McCain's understanding of the amendments, I'm thinking 10th here, is guiding his deploring, but not allowing his ordering that the ad be taken down. This is something Obama won't even try to understand because the federal government and its employees, elected and hired, can and should do what ever they want and the Constitution be damned.

Reid & Pelosi as well as Chuckie Schumer and others to call for an immediate withdrawal from Chicago, Iraq saying it is untenable and we, as a nation, should not be involved in a civil war.

Five people have been fatally shot on the South Side on Wednesday afternoon, a fire department source confirms. Police responded to reports of "multiple people shot" in the 7600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Marcel Bright said. The shooting took place inside a residence, he said.
Fat Jack Murtha in an uncoordinated echo stated that he is tired of gang members who he called "regional freedom fighters" being wantonly "murdered in cold blood" by uncontrollable Marines. When asked about reporters rolling their eyes every time Murtha opens his pork stuffed mouth, Pelosi got chaffed by her hair shirt, "This is not the American way," she said of a political climate she said brands those with dissenting views as unpatriotic, "but this is what's happening."
Pelosi later restated her support of the troops, but showed continued support for Murtha, her hatchet man, by saying that maybe it wasn't Marines murdering, that it could be Army, Navy or other BushCo-bot personnel like typical out-of-control police reminding reporters of her Rodney King stories.
Wednesday afternoon's shooting comes on the heels of a particularly violent weekend in the city. Between Friday night and early Monday morning, 36 people were shot in Chicago, nine fatally, and two people were stabbed.
Jay Rockefeller, extraordinaire inheritor of wealth and political power, mused that here in America we'd be really, really pissed if Chicago invaded us. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said with finality, "Chicago is lost and I tried to warn the president. He wouldn't listen to me".
Democrats in congress refuse to set any withdrawal time tables until the city and Cook County agree to give back a portion of patronage and other corruption dollars raised there since Mrs O'Leary's cow rebuilt the city.

Pennsylvania & Democrat Troubled Waters
People, especially those on the left, have a new mantra(s) that McCain's lead in some polls is a loss because of the Dem infighting. They love to add that voters do not want four more years of BushCo.
As is usually the case in the modern leftist movement know as the democratic Party they stare into their crystal ball with a myopia that is breath taking as we observe them divining the future.
The voter is asking whether they want another four years of the Clinton mindset without the political savvy of William Jefferson and with the bad characteristics of every horror picture's bumbler that always misreads the situation putting the good guys in further danger.
The voter is asking whether they want Obama's change for change sake when that change is pinioned to a history of sixties chaos and personal misjudgement so profound it stuns even those with a political tin ear.
Anyone who says that this candidate or that candidate will win in November is either speaking with God or is a moron. No liberal operative I know would bother to listen if God did speak to them. Any candidate that starts the post convention race politically exhausted, in dire need of huge chunks of change and hurt and damaged is logically fighting an uphill battle.
Hillary has the gumption, but does she have the strength?
Obama has the chutzpah, but does he have the savvy?
McCain does and he has survived very troubled waters.

It's a town of "gotcha games," "anything goes," and "slash-and-burn politics," and Obama added, "Sen. Clinton looked in her element" on the ABC stage last night, as Obama grappled with questions about why he doesn't wear a flag pin his on his lapel, the Wright scandal redux, and Obama's relationship with Ayers, a prominent Chicago resident who had been a member of the radical '60s terrorist group the Weathermen.
Barack seems to be saying that if you don't like the message, kill the messenger.

Stephanopoulos strongly defended his handling of the debate. He dismissed criticism that it had focused too heavily on "gotcha" questions, arguing that they had gone to the heart of the "electability" that, he said, is forefront in the minds of voters evaluating the two Dems.

Asked why the moderators had chosen to spend time on Wright, when Obama has repeatedly responded to questions about him, Stephanopoulos defended it by saying that Wright's most incendiary comments had come to light, and Obama's speech in response, had both come after the previous debate.
