Peterson, Howell and West: Teachers Unions Have a Popularity Problem

Only 22% of Americans think unions have a positive effect on schools.

The survey's most striking finding comes from its nationally representative sample of teachers. Whereas 58% of teachers took a positive view of unions in 2011, only 43% do in 2012. The number of teachers holding negative views of unions nearly doubled to 32% from 17% last year. Perhaps this helps explain why, according to education journalist and union watchdog Mike Antonucci, top officials of the National Education Association are reporting a decline of 150,000 members over the past two years and project that they will lose 200,000 more members by 2014, as several states have recently passed laws ending the automatic deduction of union dues from teachers' paychecks.

Been On The Road

I've had the pleasure of being out with voters, candidates and their staffs lately and I am heartened. I have met with people who are knowledgeable and motivated and are now engaged in the political process at the local, state and national level. They know the issues and, more importantly, the laws affecting the current and coming elections, how they must legally act and are aware of what they must look for as others attempt to game the system in attempts to illegally win elections.

Yesterday I met two very different voters who purposely visited a headquarters to offer their support as volunteer campaign workers. Both are naturalized citizens, but one came from a nearby country while the other came from a far away country, one is retired while the other is really just starting their career. They share a passion in that they both came from places that the United States now seems to want to emulate and this mistaken change more than worries them. In different way they both said we must help stop this mistake because a changed more powerful America government, that liberals and progressives envision, will create yet another gray and heavy presence that deprives entire nations of the joy and drive necessary to become ever greater. These two know so because they have lived both ways.

They actually love America. They love life. Those qualities should not be confused with simply living the dream because they are ready to fight for their beliefs that are more American than many who were born here. This is the America I know and love. Each visit and each campaign re-energizes me.

Back to work. Happily so.

If you do something sexist against a liberal, expect a firestorm. If you do something sexist (or pseudo-violent) against a conservative, well, they had it coming.

The irony is the left really doesn't see the irony.

It might seem incredible that a president who has signed into law the largest federal spending in history, who has run up $5 trillion in new debt, who has submitted budgets that propose increasing the national debt to $22 trillion–budgets so extreme that not a single member of either the House or the Senate would vote for them, two years running–would somehow try to pass himself off as a fiscal conservative. But in politics, nothing, apparently, is impossible. This is the Obama campaign’s new theme: Obama as the green-eyeshade fiscal conservative.

This is a twofer in that they make Obama into something he isn't, responsible, and they once again get to bash Bush. A liberal goregasm! Returning to the article let's look at some facts:

You really can’t make this stuff up. Here are the federal budget deficits for the fiscal years 2005 through 2012 (2012 is estimated):

2005: 318,000,000,000
2006: 248,000,000,000
2007: 161,000,000,000

The Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007, one-third of the way through FY 2007.

2008: 459,000,000,000

Now we get to the Obama administration.

2009: 1,413,000,000,000
2010: 1,293,000,000,000
2011: 1,300,000,000,000
2012: 1,327,000,000,000

So Obama has presided over the four largest federal budget deficits in history, by an extremely wide margin. This is how he “cleaned up” the “wild debts” of his Republican predecessor. Of course, federal spending is not entirely, or even primarily, about the president: only Congress has the power to spend money. So this is one more fact that should not be forgotten: since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, federal spending has risen by more than $1 trillion, or 39%.

The shills and hacks that are repeating the fiscal conservative nonsense about Obama do not want to acknowledge the $2 trillion that will be added in 2014 by the Obama administration nor do they want to allow any discussion of the trillions in costs added by non=elected arms of government such as the EPA through mandates and regulations nor do they want to talk about the added trillions of continued unemployment caused by these regulations, mandates and spending programs.

Even Axlerod and Emanuel are laughing into their sleeves over this lie too big.

The Left Rewrites Economic History To Continue Blaming Bush

The left, desperate to maintain and grow its power, has rewritten history and economics to blame Bush for Obama's dismal failure as president, especially his economic record of failure. Unfortunately for the left none but their hardcore kool aid drinkers, are buying their alter reality.

If anything, the analysis is overly generous to President Obama because: (1) it assigns full responsibility for Fiscal Year 2009 to President Bush, despite the enactment by Obama of the stimulus, higher domestic appropriations and an expansion of TARP spending during that year; and (2) it gives Obama credit for the policies he intends to enact for the rest of his presidency, since we cannot judge his actual future record. The graphic compares the records of these two presidents based on the deficits, revenues and spending incurred by the federal government on their watch, expressed as a percentage of GDP.

The left will continue to lie about the economy and the history of deficits because to them facts are interchangeable whenever necessary to win elections. Whenever is now.

How did Mr. Nutting come up with this trickeration and mathematical sleight of hand?  He attributes all of the 2009 spending (except the Stimulus) to Bush instead of Obama and he uses the year to year percent increases as his comparison metric.

It is true that the government spending of the president’s first year in office is mostly approved by the previous president but Obama supported and voted for the Tarp spending and he didn’t try to reign in any of this spending during 2009.  Obama actually wanted a larger stimulus in 2009 (to the tune of an additional $1 trillion) so that hardly sounds like someone who is austere and wanted to keep the US on a tight budget.  So attributing the spending of 2009 to Obama is completely fair in my book.

Obama wanted to spend another trillion dollars on top of what he wasted already. Wow, what austerity!

Union Thugs Spread Their Love For Conservative Women

This time the union's target in their war on conservative women is SC Gov. Nikki Haley, a Sikh Indian, whose parents immigrated legally from Punjab, India. 

The joke went sour when the AFL-CIO realized just how poorly, once again, their jokes were playing out that they had to issue an apology to Gov. Haley. Elsewhere, other women are still awaiting their apologies. In vain.

Get Ready For Obama's Skyrocketing Cost Increases

As promised by Obama electricity rates will skyrocket. They will skyrocket because of the green movement, the EPA's ludicrous regulations and also because of the overall goal of the Obama administration which is to remake the US economy into a system they want. That citizens of the US didn't vote for this man made disaster, but it is what they are going to get.



Last week PJM Interconnection, the company that operates the electric grid for 13 states (Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia) held its 2015 capacity auction. These are the first real, market prices that take Obama’s most recent anti-coal regulations into account, and they prove that he is keeping his 2008 campaign promise to make electricity prices “necessarily skyrocket.”


As far as Obama is concerned it is a feature not a bug that more people will be dependent on the government as costs skyrocket and tens of thousands workers become unemployed because of him.

How ironic that Obama lectured candidate Romney about being president of all the people. How sad.

Crotch Shots Fee To Double under Democrats

The Democrats in the Senate want more of your money. Since they can't get the huge theft they want in an election year they are content to do many small thefts to fund things like high speed rail, wind farms and and other loser ideas. Now they're aiming for more money for those crotch shots and gropes.

The Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday moved forward with legislation to increase airline passenger security fees, beating back a GOP attempt to keep them at current levels.

The 2013 Homeland Security appropriations bill would increase one-way fees for passengers from $2.50 to $5 in order to close a budget shortfall at the Transportation Security Administration.

Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) said the $350 million in funding would otherwise come from taxpayers and argued it is better to stick passengers who rely on TSA with the bill.

"Rely on the TSA"? Huh? Passengers have done more for safety on planes than the TSA. The TSA has made air travel a nightmare and now they want more money to do what, make it more of a nightmare? Maybe they should first work on their own security and find out how many illegal aliens, criminals and potential terrorists are working for them and leave the groping to those who really care.
