With friends like this...

The tapas has barely been served and the normally uninvited guests were already criticizing the yet to be served main course. Of course, among these “new” guests, the defeatists are complaining that there is probably no desert nor aperitif planned, snidely referring to that barbecue party where only beer had been served. Or so they had heard.

For this party, with the “good flatware”, the host better have a plan to stuff their fat sated asses in their own cars, turn the ignition on and tuck them into their own beds.

The frequent guests, invited for their normally intelligent conversation and wit, have decided to impress the new comers by joining in with comments questioning the kitchen staff planning and whether this whole soiree was planned correctly.

Personally, I would tell the bastards off and leave them to stare at empty plates and a defeated evening. Me, I would round up those who remember what such evenings are all about and set out to make it a success.

Alas, it isn’t my soiree, so I just sit and watch the bounders and cads destroy what is good. Maybe I’ll go help in the kitchen. They seem more to my liking. Toiling in the heat and noise, they are skillfully completing their tasks without comment concerning their opinionated de jour “betters” in the front hall.

Maybe I will really ruin this fine soiree and be remembered as the one that tossed a turd in the punchbowl because I reminded them that they could stop their smug bitching, start remembering the purpose of the evening and even lend a hand toward its success.

I hate Saturday night catfights and Monday morning whiners. Everybody is a critic. Even those who can only burn toast.

Currently there is a diary near the top of the recent diary list that attacks
Hillary Clinton for a supposed bigoted comment. The sources the diarist cites
are not credible, to say the least, and are more correctly described as right
wing websites.

I will not link to this diary as 1) I expect it to be deleted
by diarist soon, and 2) I will not spread such filth any further.

But this does raise an opportunity to discuss the First Rule of the Primary Wars. It is expected that there will be diaries criticial of any and all candidates during
this time. No one can complain about that. Indeed, your candidate will not be
our nominee unless he or she can survive our scruntiny. But, when writing such
diaries critical of a candidate, you may not now or ever use source material
that emanates from the right wing or Republicans to support your criticisms or
attacks.

If your source is NewsMax, delete the diary.
If your source is Insight, delete the diary.
If your source is Drudge, delete the diary.
If your source is Free Republic, consider suicide.

Daily Kos will not be used as a Right Wing echo chamber, for they already have enough echo chambers of their own.

Here's where we get to the truth on what was really said at the press conference...Iraqi American Haider Ajina wrote in an email on what Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki really said in his press conference:

Greetings Jim,I looked at al-Maliki's personal web page and read the official spokesperson comments. Maliki's comments were taken completely out of context and even reported inaccurately. The news first was reported by an Italian paper totally inaccurately. I will get more details and get back to you.

It is interesting that the media missed Maliki's announcement of the arrest of over 400 Mahdi army people, in spite of the strong support he has from Muktada. Maliki is doing this to show that he will punish all who do not obey the law.

By the way, Muktada's party said they will come back to the Parliament. They left, if you remember, when Maliki went to Jordan to talk with President Bush, now they are back with their tails between their legs....

I have read the interview Maliki gave to a number of Western papers. They have taken his comments completely out of context.

Maliki even accused the LA Times person of asking devilish or tricky misleading questions.

The LA Times person was trying to put words in Maliki's mouth and Maliki rebutted him.

Maliki said in his interview that Iraqis have their freedom because of the sacrifices and help of the USA and President Bush and Iraq is grateful. This they did not report.

In doing other research I came upon Martin Kramer and his Sandbox. Interesting reading. very.

As the anti-freedom worker bees move forward to undermine the people of Iraq and stab our troops in the back, I find it informative to learn how "intellectuals" were brought back in line starting as far back as 2004.

But since Professor Cole still needs help with his memory, let me add this quote to the litany (April 1, 2003):

I hold on to the belief that the Baath regime in Iraq has been virtually
genocidal (no one talks about the fate of the Marsh Arabs) and that having
it removed cannot in the end be a bad thing. That's what I tell anxious
parents of our troops over there; it is a noble enterprise to remove the
Baath, even if so many other justifications for the war are crumbling.

You've got the mise-en-scene? The much-titled expert reassures anxious parents of service personnel that their sons and daughters are risking their lives in a "noble enterprise." Now read this passage, which Cole wrote over a year later (April 23, 2004):

I would not have been willing to risk my own life to dislodge Saddam Hussein
from power. And, I would certainly not have been willing to see my son risk
his. So apparently the "noble enterprise" wasn't that noble, at least in
retrospect. For it's only in retrospect that Cole came to see the "noble
enterprise" as a "terrible idea."

Only in retrospect did a war to depose Saddam look to him like
a "bad idea," since at the time he thought it "cannot in the end be a bad
thing." When war began, he thought it would be "worth the sacrifices." Only in
retrospect did he decide it wasn't even worth the risks.

"Intellectuals" like Juan Cole are not just self aggrandizing losers, they are liars. dangerous ones.

Liberal sod - Astroturfing

I have been doing research sparked by the great signage and cohesive message of protesters in non-English speaking countries from around the world. I have a background in graphics and message and I thought that, say in Indonesia, the protesters had a better "branding" of message than many US companies. I've shown a few examples here.

This led me to noticing the same thing with C.A.I.R. and other "islamic" groups only interested in saving America the pain of defeat and extending their handful of left over virgins in the next life. All for peace. They were using the same language and strawman all over the country in their "spontaneous" fits of indignation.

This is called astroturfing (via Wkipedia):

In politics and advertising, the term astroturfing describes formal public
relations (PR) campaigns which seek to create the impression of being a
spontaneous, grassroots behavior. Hence the reference to the "AstroTurf"
(artificial grass) is a metaphor to indicate "fake grassroots" support.

The goal of such campaign is to disguise the agenda of a political client as an
independent public reaction to some political entity —a politician, political
group, product, service, event. Astroturfers attempt to orchestrate the actions
of apparently diverse and geographically distributed individuals, by both overt
("outreach," "awareness," etc.) and covert (disinformation) means. Astroturfing
may be undertaken by anything from an individual pushing their own personal
agenda through to highly organised professional groups with financial backing
from large corporations.

Today I had the privilege of reading the Mudville Gazette who has much more chronicling the left's use of astroturfing in their worldwide effort to destroy America's war in Iraq, nee America's war on islamofascists. In this case Mudville delves into the millions spent to use dummy groups working with front companies to make it appear that the nation's citizens are working independently of their own conscience.

Did you really think that simple "soldiers", concerned "mothers" like Cindy Sheehan and women and children in countries around the world produced press events and media images all on their own?

land above it and how can it be snowing as Mother Earth is suffering the aches,

Barbara Boxer. “Who is responsible and who is going to pay for lower gas prices and the lower cost of home heating fuel as this cold kills innocent Latino babies in our major California cities? The rich can go to their offices and schools to stay warm and avoid the horrors of snow, but we, the working people, must once again suffer the bad management of global warming by politicians in Washington that just want to keep their names in the news!” as her staff swept her off to for a flight to meet with President Bush to voice her concerns.

Pelosi gives Silvestre Reyes his orders

There have been public calls to the authors to retract the ad or apologize for

reject all of these. We think the ad's authors were right to give voice to the
students quoted, whose suffering is real. We also acknowledge the pain that has
been generated by what we believe is a misperception that the authors of the ad
prejudged the rape case.

Bullshit! This group of faculty at Duke University did prejudge. The group of 88 prejudged Duke and all of America. They used the Duke Lacrosse Team as whipping boys to further their argument that racial and sexual discrimination proudly exist at Duke and throughout the United States. Their personal and professional standing is predicated on this thesis. Now, donning their superhero capes of indignation, they say they were misjudged.

They must be very stupid to think we are that ignorant.

Benny Parsons - RIP

The gentle giant of NASCAR, Benny Parsons, passed away on Tuesday. BP was loved by everyone, even those he raced hard against.

"Parsons made 526 starts from 1964 until his 1988 retirement. He ended his
career with 283 top-10 finishes, led at least one lap in 192 races and finished
no lower than fifth in the points from 1972 to 1980."

He will be missed by a whole lot of people and he will be sorely missed by those who had the great privilege to know him.

Seamless Effort

Living on the hem of the hottest outfit in the free world, I have
access to so much more than "fly-over Joe". This is a privilege. This is a
curse. Participating in pro-American activities and giving the abundant Liberal
flotsam a healthy ration of first person comeuppance makes for an unusually
gratifying daily ritual. I take special pleasure in this because I know my
patriotic brethren across this country can't feel the electrifying hum of
Washington D.C., and it is easy to let the Lame Stream Media dictate fashionable
opinion.

Sometimes I take for granted the thrill of walking into a Capitol Hill
hot spot with Hunky Husband resplendent in full Officer kit, getting the stink
eye from the Liberati there assembled, and brazenly holding their glare as if to
say, "If I weren't wearing such great Choos, you and I would step outside and I
could help you wear one too." But that satisfaction comes very
dear.

The next 9-11 will be catastrophic, most likely involve a bio-agent,
and Hunky Husband quite literally works three doors down from the most powerful
man largest bullseye ever conceived. What I wouldn't give to be on my forty
acres with my goats, far far away from the stench of government.

For those who feel on the fringes of influence, powerless to change
anything but the channel, know that nothing could be a bigger myth. You are here
participating in the great equalizer--the New Media. And all the sound bytes in
the world cannot compete with the viral truth at your fingertips. If we allow
one day in November to make us believe that we are helpless, the unholy alliance
between the Jihadiis and the American Left will surely tear us to shreds.

Read. Think. Preach. Blog. Vote. Pray. Dedicated Patriots can do
those things from anywhere.

So let's quit whining and start stitching this
nation back together. '08 is just over the horizon and time's a wasting.

When Republicans don't get it

It's bad enough to be subjected to the drivel coming out of Sherrod Brown, Kucinich, Tubbs Jones, Kaptur and Zack Space. Even Voinovich is warming up to another crying jag, but unfortunately we here in Ohio have been accustomed to this.

What is truly worrisome is the lack of vision or scope that resides in our nation's Capitol. Yes, there was that insightful statement about the tube type things in the Internet, but technology does move fast these days. No, I am worried when allies of freedom in Congress do not get it, just as I worry that the opponents of freedom don't get it. Also, in Congress.

Regula sees the only alternative to Bush’s plan as “just to walk away.” And if the
United States did that, he said, “it would destabilize that whole part
of the world, not just Iraq. You’d have a hotbed of terrorists taking
over the whole environment.” (emp. mine)

"destabilize that whole part of the world"? Wrong. Destabilize the world.

Radical Islam is a virus without a state. Khomeini stated that Iran was nothing and it could die if it furthered the worldwide Caliphate. “It doesn’t matter what the people think. The people are ignorant sheep.” stated Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi of his followers. Traditionally, political and societal viruses are contained by a host state. When that host state tries to export its virus another state can move to shove it back or kill it. Communism is a state hosted virus. Vietnam, as such, is an ignorant analogy to Iraq. Yes, Vietnam had foreign insurgents just as in Iraq, but those insurgents were from other communist countries, all with stated geopolitical goals. Islam is stateless. Radical Islam is not only stateless, it is anti state. There is no containment, only eradication.

A failure in Iraq will not destabilize a (whole) part of our world. It will destabilize the Arab world, Africa, Asia and Europe for sure, but it will also destabilize Russia, America and other areas with growing radical Islamic populations and with citizens without vision or scope of what this war is really about. This war is worldwide. Those are the stakes and proponents of worldwide freedom have to understand those stakes.

Opponents of freedom do not get it. They are too selfish to understand.

Bill Batchelder for Speaker - Ohio

I am in absolute agreement with Right Angle and Viking Spirit concerning Bill Batchelder being elected Speaker of the House for Ohio. Mr. Batchelder has maintained his integrity, honesty and intellectual inquisitiveness all of his adult life.

As a young man he attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware Ohio and took the conservative political point in a very liberal atmosphere. He did it with intelligence and good humor and won many people to his side and garnered the grudging admiration of many others, including professors. In the poisoned environment of Vietnam, rapidly changing morals and anti-American attitudes he took many a jab, some incredibly unfair, and bounced back to continue his march. As a very young man I saw it first hand.

Now, though not elected yet, Mr. Batchelder will lead in the House. Those that choose to follow will help maintain the Republican majority for years to come and hopefully will also bring Ohio back from the brink.

Bush's speech Wednesday night underlined his staunch rejection of
recommendations that Washington reach out to Syria and Iran in an attempt to
calm Iraq.

Instead, Bush set out plans to isolate the two countries, calling on
help from Arab allies and vowing to cut off Syrian and Iranian aid to militants
in Iraq. He announced the deployment of an additional aircraft carrier battle
group and Patriot air defense missiles to the region — seen as muscle-flexing
toward Iran.

In Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini said Bush's
plan to send 21,000 more troops to Iraq was a "continuation of occupation" that
will only "extend insecurity, danger and tension in the country. This will not
help to solve Iraq's problems."
Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Sharaa said
Wednesday prior to Bush's speech that the American troop surge was "not a
positive step" and would only "pour oil on the fire."

I just came across this blog Blonde Sagacity which had this story. Dear sweet God I wish it were true. Most people who had to listen to this crap in college would cheer to see this happen to the vapid windbag they had to sit and listen to.

Maybe you've seen this before, but someone sent it and I just had to post
it... It reminded me of a true story from when my mom was in school. She had a
philosophy professor that wrote "God is Dead" -Nietzsche on the board and before
he got into class she wrote "Nietzsche is Dead" -God underneath. He was not
amused..."A United States Marine was attending some college courses between
assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the
courses had a professor who was a vowed atheist and a member of the ACLU.

One day the professor shocked the class when he came in. He looked to the
ceiling and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me
off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes." The lecture room fell
silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor
proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting." It got down to the last couple
of minutes when the Marine got out of his Chair, went up to the professor, and
cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out
cold.

The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other
students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The
professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked,
"What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?" The Marine calmly
replied, "God was too busy today protecting America 's soldiers who are
protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an asshole. So, He sent
me."

Dennis Kucinich fathers two idiots

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, who made opposition to Bush’s Iraq policy a
centerpiece of his campaign against GOP Sen. Mike DeWine, called for an
"up-or-down vote" to determine whether senators "support the escalation of this
war or not."

Brown also said that when Bush asks Congress for additional money to pay
for the buildup, lawmakers should approve the bill "with instructions that the
president use this money to redeploy troops safely — in the most orderly way —
out of Iraq."

Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich, D-Cleveland, who is running for the 2008
presidential nomination, went further. In a speech Monday in New York, Kucinich
unveiled his plan to "end the occupation" of Iraq by U.S. forces, pay
reparations, close bases and withdraw.

He wants to replace the U.S. forces with an international peacekeeping
force, although there is little sign that any collection of nations wants to
send troops to Iraq.

Rep. Zack Space, D-Dover, complained that the administration has yet to
spell out how a troop surge will bring about success in Iraq. "Without a clear
plan and a clear objective, I fear that a troop increase will only deepen the
disaster that our Iraq policy has become."

Sherrod Brown, still smoking after all these years, has announced his foreign policy plan and decided how the Commander in Chief will conduct military matters in Iraq. Zack Space is already complaining that Bush hasn't announced to the enemy our military plans which, no doubt, is also vexing the murderous terrorists wanting to humiliate the U. S. in Iraq and before the world. Twins Sherrod and Space obviously are anxious to help the little bastards in their goal of solidifying and growing their Jihad in Iraq and beyond. It is unimportant to the twins that free Iraqis will be stomped on, tortured and killed just so that today they can get some face time in their beloved Cleveland Pain Dealer.

Sound familiar? It should. Dennis "the menace" Kucinich has been a progressive, code for socialist, for years and has been spouting the same lying lines while drooling nonsense that he wants "the Goddess of Peace to encircle within her arms" all the children of the world. Just not Arab children. He doesn't care if they rot and die or are simply murdered.

Edgar Aetheling was named heir apparent by his great-uncle King Edward the Confessor but was not crowned when the King died in 1066 because he was too young. Harold II was crowned instead.

William the Conqueror crossed over from Normandy, defeating Harold at
the Battle of Hastings. The teenage Aetheling later submitted to William.

English Heritage, which seeks to protect the country's historical
environment, asks in its advertisements: "Are you of Edgar the Aetheling's
lineage and believe you have a legitimate claim?"

Over the Christmas celebration while I was stuffing myself with Calimari, Canolies and Chavis I came across a poll asking "Do you think the U.S. can win in Iraq?". I believe it was asked on the Columbus Dispatch website, which struck me as odd at the time.

The Columbus Dispatch of my youth was the flagship of the Wolfe family media group which included newspapers, television and radio stations. The Wolfe family personified Ohio values in that they worked hard, played hard and voted Republican.

This came to mind because said Calimari were dying at a high rate by me as I sat in New York reading a newspaper from Ohio with a wife I met in Virginia. I mused that Ohio had been a sensible good place to get dragged up in, that Ronald Reagan had brought me to the home of my mother's family which had been Virginia, and I remembered that New York, with the Rockefellers, had been the enemy. A reality check smacked me. hard.

Today, the Wolfe family have ceded control of their media group to a liberal enabling wuss publisher named Curtain (sp?), Columbus is a hotbed of BDS, the street I shared with No Such Agency types in Virginia is now populated by fat "civil servants" living in a gulf community and I was sitting in what had been enemy territory with the love of my life, her family and a rabidly conservative community. Once again, we are not being allowed to win, but (again) the enemy is being enabled to not appear to lose. Iran has their fingers in the pie, Syria is at the very least a staging area for terrorists, the Saudi are terror's venture capitalists, Egypt is Egypt and somewhere in this pile of horseshit I bet we're going to find a pony called Putin. Thus we know who the players are, know their address' and we have pretty good GPS coordinates.

Each day the terrorists murder for the MSM's previewing pleasure, everyday opponents of the War on Terror get their mugs in the MSM crying their pitiful slogans, everyday manufactured intellectuals produce "works" proving American perfidy and slowly the attitude of average Americans change.

America has been here before. Now, we have to not only fight over there, but here as well. Opponents of freedom have successfully put their argument front and center from Korea to the here and now. They are in the minority, but have been successful because they are persistent. It is time for freedom lovers to put their arguments front and center here in America and the rest of the world.

As a civilian led military, we should support our President in giving the military its objective and getting the hell out of the miltary's way. As citizens we should fight in the newsroom, the classroom, the halls of Congress and our city halls. When people say it has gone on too long, ask them how long their grand children want to live. When opponents of freedom call someone a chickenhawk, tell them they are a chickenhawk for terrorism, because they are.

When you see a person wearing the uniform of our country, walk up to them and thank them, buy them a drink or pay for their meal and do it quietly, not with fanfare, but faithfully, just as our soldiers are serving our country and the cause of freedom. When someone says our soldiers joined up because they had no other options, tell them that a remark like that probably means they're too stupid to be in the best educated military in the world. We're not winning because we are not doing our part.

When you don't want to cause a scene or spoil a party or are afraid to be the town loudmouth, think of a bleeding soldier in the dirt or a family celebrating a holiday, a birthday or an anniverary without a loved one who is away serving us. It is time we serve those that are serving for us. It is not the time to politely ignore those who would tear us down. It is time to tear them and their anti-freedom strawmen down.

I like all music, except opera (growing up, it was no fun getting a whoopin to Wagner), but my favorites are early blues (Mississippi Fred McDowell) and early country (Hank), classical and almost all rock. Modern country has some really good songs, but they ain’t country. Grunge was good, but punk was better. Rap has its moments, but why don’t they cut to the chase and build a recording studio in a supermax and a couple of mortuaries?

Delbert isn’t on the list because I couldn’t choose just one. Same with the Kinks. Same with the hardest working man in show bizness, but this list would suck without at least one James Brown song. Allman Brothers, Willie Dixon, Eurythmics, Alison Krause, Lyle, Linkin Park, Creed and on and on.

To totally screw the pooch, for me it is perfectly normal to go from Weezer to the Kingsmen to Sid and then to Dvorak.

Remember Scott Ritter

Scott Ritter was a person who had a great and detrimental effect on our nation's effort to bring Iraq back into the nations of compliance concerning WMDs. Scott Ritter should be remembered as a fool. Unfortunately, Scott Ritter had his 15 minutes of fame at a time the world couldn't afford him.

Remember UNSCOM? Here is analysis by Ritter pre-war.

Well, there's a large number of players involved here [in killing UNSCOM].
You have Iraq, which was not complying fully with Security Council resolutions.
What I mean by fully is they weren't letting UNSCOM complete that last few
percentage points to get us up to 100 percent.
So, Iraq is complicit. But
that'd been happening for eight years. UNSCOM was alive and well and breathing
for seven years. So, you can't say that Iraq killed UNSCOM because Iraq behaved
the same way throughout, and UNSCOM still existed.

The Security Council created UNSCOM under Chapter 7 of the United
Nations Charter, and that carries with it a promise to enforce its own law, and
the Security Council wasn't enforcing its law, and that helped to perpetuate
this cycle of cheat-and-retreat confrontation, and then, backing down.

You could say the Security Council killed UNSCOM, but again, that's a
process that's been taking place for years, and UNSCOM was still alive, well,
breathing, kicking, doing its job.
Now we come down to the final two
players. You have an executive chairman who, for whatever reasons, has become
enamored with the support of the United States. You have a United States
administration, the Clinton Administration, which, as we've seen with Madeleine
Albright's unfortunate statements of 1997, have decided to pervert international
law and say that it doesn't matter what Iraq does with disarmament, we're going
to keep economic sanctions in place.

Now, these sanctions are becoming harder and harder to defend, on two
fronts. One, what good are they doing? Are they having an impact on the target,
Saddam Hussein? The answer is no. Who suffers under sanctions? Innocent Iraqi
people. Thousands of children under the age of five die every month because of
these sanctions, and while the American public might be oblivious to this,
believe me, the rest of the world is not, and the longer we continue this
program of economic sanctions targeted against Iraq, the more isolated the
United States becomes.

But Richard Butler had come to a decision that we couldn't carry out
certain activities without the support of the United States. That the United
States was somehow our No. 1 backer in the Security Council, and he allowed the
United States to start calling the shots. An inspection a little too
confrontational, Richard? Why don't we pull the plug on it, buddy, and stop
it.

Now, Ritter hasn't questioned the $2 Billion that Saddam pocketed nor has he addressed how much that $2 Billion could have helped the "thousands of under the age of five" that he stated died each month because of the sanctions. Nor has Ritter discussed the UN's corruption.

Nor has Ritter discussed how wrong he was on this issue as well as all the other erroneous statements he made.

Many people have written about "The Person of the Year" and while I agree with many choices I also believe that Scott Ritter should be the "Person of the Year" for many years to come because his words bolstered the anti-American positions of Hans Blix, Kofi Annan, John Kerry (and his cousin Jack Iraq), Charles Schumer and so many other fools in this country and abroad. This cost, exacted by an ex-marine, has been paid by our soldiers and their families.

For his 15 minutes of fame, I place Scott Ritter ahead of Neville Chamberlain, but behind Benedict Arnold.

About right, Ritter should be rated between a fool and a traitor.
