Our Empress, Nana Pelosi, has duly warned General Patraeus "not to put a shine" on the situation in Iraq and all of her children have duly noted that in their little red books. Now though comes the incredibly worrisome news that Iraqis may be paying less for the refined crude their houses are built on top of. The horrors!

Deeper in Nana's threat was this gem of green economic realism:

"The stretch and strain on our military is like never before," said Skelton. "I am terribly worried about this."

Underscoring the Democrats’ economic points, Pelosi asked why the U.S. military in Iraq and Americans back home are paying more for gasoline than the Iraqis are.

“Our troops in Iraq are paying about $3.25 a gallon for gas in Iraq, comparable to what we pay here, while the Iraqis are paying $1.36 a gallon,” Pelosi said. “This is a raw deal for the American taxpayer.”

While this fact is unacceptable there is a solution. Boutique fuels. I say most of Baghdad must have sweet smelling gas fumes that would never think of polluting a single terrorist while areas in which Sadr has his forces the gas fumes must pollute and smell like Sadr's left hand. It's kind of like the difference between Cleveland and Berkeley only smaller.

Other cities in Iraq can summon up their best smarm and demand sweeter fuel in different mixtures that will make their babies stronger (because it is really all about the children unless they become loggers in which case the Hell with them) and saving Mother Earth from capitalist running dog pig Republicans.

You go Nana. You're on this like white on rice.

Declaring a new direction in energy policy, the House on Saturday approved $16 billion in taxes on oil companies, while providing billions of dollars in tax breaks and incentives for renewable energy and conservation
efforts.


Republican opponents said the legislation ignored the need to
produce more domestic oil, natural gas and coal. One GOP
lawmaker bemoaned "the pure venom ... against the oil and gas industry."

The House passed the tax provisions by a vote of 221-189. Earlier it
had approved, 241-172, a companion energy package aimed at
boosting energy efficiency and expanding use of biofuels, wind power and
other renewable energy sources.

"We are turning to the future," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Yep, Nancy, we are headed in a new direction and it has little to do with energy policy except for you to pander to the enviro wackos for their votes. As usual, Congressional liberals don't really want to look at the effects of their policies such as bio and the rising cost of food in the wake of their feel good legislation.

Result, higher food prices, higher gas prices including home heating fuel and more taxes to the government and less money to actually solve problems that we, as a nation, face.

The right direction would be more domestic drilling and the building of more refineries, Congress won't accept that.

I Am Going To Fight For My Children's Future

On this "Papa's Day", as my son calls it, I am thinking of my children's future and that Democrats are hellbent on destroying it. I wish my father was here to give me his advice, but he worked his way out of a life of no money for necessities and little hope to be the first in his family to finish high school to become a Doctor. He succeeded, but we lost him when he was only 57 years of age.

The Democrats have actually convinced themselves that they got a mandate to:

a) Steal from the people
b) Destroy America's reputation in the world
c) Destroy America's reputation in America

Of the three, the Democrats believe their best shot at passing legislation is to steal from the people through their tax and spend voodooism of bribing their base to vote for them.

To preserve tax relief

Democrats in Congress are discounting advancements made possible by the
2001 and 2003 tax cuts passed by Congress and are trying to slap U.S. taxpayers
with a $400 billion tax increase that will slow our economy's current progress.

If Democrats follow through on their budget promises, the American people will face the following:

• A $500 per child tax increase.
• A 55 percent Death Tax.
• A 13 percent tax increase for many small businesses.
• A 33 percent tax increase on capital gains.
• A 164 percent tax increase on dividends.

I believe Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats in Congress must join
together to ensure the American economy is not crippled by a massive tax
increase. I recently introduced the Tax Increase Prevention Act, legislation
that would make permanent tax relief passed in 2001 and 2003.

If they can once again hamper America's economy with increased taxes they then can start rebuilding the perception that America needs big government, unions, and all things liberal to save itself.

Losers Pelosi and Reid have so far failed in their effort to destroy America's reputation with their cut and run policy of abandonment of the people of Iraq, but they'll keep trying. They will keep hoping for the continued bleakness projected by the media and the outright lies by them to weaken America's resolve.

A Republican backbencher, Tim Walberg (R-MI) has shown he will not go quietly back into the dark and we still have hope with the great thinking and leadership of Rep. John Boehner, but where are the others?

Not in the Senate leadership.

Iraq surge a failure, top Democrats tell Bush

Top US congressional Democrats bluntly told President George W. Bush
Wednesday that his Iraq troop "surge" policy was a failure.

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and House of Representatives
Speaker Nancy Pelosi challenged the president over Iraq by sending him a letter,
ahead of a White House meeting later on Wednesday.

"As many had forseen, the escalation has failed to produce the
intended results," the two leaders wrote.

"The increase in US forces has had little impact in curbing the
violence or fostering political reconciliation.

"It has not enhanced Americas national security. The unsettling
reality is that instances of violence against Iraqis remain high and attacks on
US forces have increased.

"In fact, the last two months of the war were the deadliest to date
for US troops.

I have no doubt they wrote this release before the surge began.

Even for Reid and Pelosi this is a new low in political hackery and they're marching on the bodies of troops, both alive and dead, toward their goal of power. They set their course and now they realize it has become a test of brinkmanship and a final roll of the dice on their part. The troops be damned. The security of the United States of America be damned. Freedom be damned. In fact, the truth be damned.

Shame on Pelosi, Reid, and the rest. Shame on those that have bought into their sham. Shame on each and every reporter and editor that support their lies.

To make people's effort worthless robs those people of their self-worth and that is what Reid, Pelosi and their enablers are doing to every person that wears our country's uniform. To play political games with the freedom of the 50 plus million people of Iraq, Afghanistan and others watching with hope, is more despicable than imaginable. The worst, though, is to knowingly lie, at the expense of those who hope for freedom and those fighting for that freedom, to the electorate to gain their tawdry goal of political power.

Reid and Pelosi are not the loyal opposition. They're not even loyal. They are not "citizen representatives", they are old, burned out hacks clawing for their political lives. I pray they fail.

Nancy Pelosi Throws a Hissy Fit

After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of
procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to
change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the
minority.

The Democratic Leadership is threatening to change the
current House Rules regarding the Republican right to the Motion to Recommit
or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit. This would be the
first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.

In protest, the House Republicans are going to call procedural motions
every half hour.

It must be very frustrating for Mizzzzzz Pelosi, she thought she was the Queen, but a mere President, the House leadership and the Constitution all stand in the way of her "reality".

I think poor baby needs a time-out.

Convincing evidence that corroborates NewsMax.com’s accounts of the Haditha insurgent ambush has compelled the prosecution to take extraordinary steps to bolster their crumbling case.

The stunning announcement that all charges are being dropped against
Sgt. Sanick P. Dela Cruz, formerly accused of murder in the Haditha incident
where 24 Iraqis were killed during an insurgent ambush against the Marines, is
indication that the prosecutors have a very weak case against all the
defendants, lawyers for the some of the accused say.

Crumbling Case

“Dela Cruz provided several sworn statements to the government,” Mark Zaid said. Zaid is one of the attorneys representing defendant Sgt. Frank Wuterich adding that
as part of its obligations the government turned over statements to Wuterich’s
defense team.

“Unless there’s something new that he is suddenly going to come
forward with, it’s not entirely clear that it’s damaging to my client at all,”
Mark Zaid, one of the attorney’s representing Sgt. defendant Frank Wuterich,
told NewsMax.com.

“Those statements were available for the government to use,
and we found that there are numerous conflicting statements within his own
statements.”

The announcement of the deal with Dela Cruz is further evidence
that the cases against the Kilo Company Marines and several of their superior
officers are in deep trouble. It comes on the heels of postponements of Article
32 hearings slated for Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, the battalion commander and
two of the enlisted men charged with murdering civilians in Haditha on Nov. 19,
2005.

Baseless Charges

Although the prosecutors said they needed more time
to prepare their cases, there is much more to the story than that NewsMax.com
has learned, and it paints a shocking picture of a prosecution that should never
have been pursued.

In a nutshell, the case exploded when an intelligence
officer dropped a bombshell on prosecutors during a pre-hearing interview when
he revealed the existence of exculpatory evidence that appears to have been
obtained by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and withheld from
the prosecutors.

This officer, described by senior Marine Corps superiors as
one of the best and most dedicated intelligence officers in the entire Marine
Corps, was in possession of evidence which provided a minute-by-minute narrative
of the entire day’s action — material which he had amassed while monitoring the
day’s action in his capacity as the battalion’s intelligence officer. That
material, he says, was also in the hands of the NCIS.

Much of that evidence remains classified, but it includes videos of the entire day’s action, including airstrikes against insurgent safe houses. Also included was all of the radio traffic describing the ongoing action between the men on the ground and
battalion headquarters, and proof that the Marines were aware that the
insurgents conducting the ambush of the Kilo Company troops were videotaping the
action — the same video that after editing ended up in the hands of a gullible
anti-war correspondent for Time magazine.

When asked by the prosecution team to give his copies of the evidence to the prosecution, he told NewsMax.com that he was reluctant to do so, fearing it would again be suppressed or misused, but later relented when ordered by his commanding general to do so.

Confronted by the massive mounds of evidence that Marine Corps sources tell NewsMax proves conclusively that the cases against the Haditha Marines are baseless, the prosecutors were forced to postpone the Article 31 against Lt. Col. Chessani and two of the enlisted men in an attempt to regroup.

By granting immunity to the officer on the scene of the house-clearing effort, the prosecution, lawyers say, has further weakened its case.Because the intelligence officer was slated to return to Iraq for another tour of duty, arrangements were made prior to his departure to videotape his testimony for use in the hearings which would take place after his departure.

Those familiar with his testimony, which included masses of classified material, insist that the narratives of the day’s events disclosed by NewsMax.com in a long series of stories about Haditha were accurate presentations of the true facts and a total repudiation of all the slanderous material leaked by the Pentagon to the media.

Thanks to this officer’s testimony, the defense team was able to present over one hundred classified exhibits, including video.

Lawyers for some of the accused told NewsMax that the officer’s eight hour-long deposition will be made available to the defense in all the cases for use at the various Article 32 hearings which begin with Lt. Col. Chessani in May. Because most of it remains classified, it will be reviewed in private by the hearing officers and not revealed in the open hearings.

NewsMax, however, can reveal that the facts of what happened early
that November morning clearly show that the incident was part of a planned
ambush by insurgent forces, that the civilians tragically killed in the were
used as human shields by the insurgents, and that despite claims by Rep. John
Murtha, there was indeed an ongoing firefight between the Marines and the
enemy.

In short, what the intelligence officer provided, was a fully backed
up account that puts the listener at the scene of the action and takes him
though the entire day’s action. All of this information was made available to
senior officers up the command ladder including the Battalion commander Lt. Col.
Chessani.

It was so complete it eliminated any need for further investigation.

Robert Muise, the Thomas More Law Center attorney who
questioned the officer, told NewsMax in a statement, “The intelligence officer
is a crucial witness in this case. During his testimony, he effectively
described the enemy situation prior to, during, and after the November 19
terrorist attack, providing the necessary context for the decisions that were
made as a result. His testimony shows the complexity of the attack this day, the
callousness of the terrorists toward the local civilians, whom they use to their
advantage, and the error of viewing this incident in a vacuum.

“The officer also showed how the insurgents used allegations of wrongdoing by Marines as propaganda to support their cause. In fact, another witness, who was the
assistant intelligence officer during the attack and is now the current
intelligence officer for the battalion, testified that since the Haditha
incident received so much negative attention, terrorist propaganda alleging law
of war violations against American servicemen in Iraq has ‘ballooned.’”

Addressing this point, Richard Thompson, the president and
chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center said, “The government’s politicized
quest to find wrongdoing in this case will ultimately harm the war effort, and
it has already resulted in an incredible expenditure of time, money, and scarce
resources, which could be better used fighting the terrorists.

“Our job is to allow the facts of November 19, 2005 and beyond to be presented to the investigating officer rather than the scurrilous and unfounded accusations from
anti-war politicians and media who rely on insurgent sources for their stories
about our decent and hard fighting men in uniform.”

In the past few days, as an apparent part of the prosecution’s damage control effort, some Pentagon officials leaked the once classified 130-page report, by Maj. Gen. Eldon A. Bargewell of the Army, to the New York Times and The Washington Post. That report, however, failed to conclude that any officers covered up evidence or
committed a crime — the basis of the charges against Lt. Col. Chessani and the
other officers charged.

In previous attempt to stir up animosity to the defendants, some people in the Pentagon leaked information allegedly compiled by the NCIS to the Washington Post.

As NewsMax demonstrated, that information was false.

Biased Media Weighs In

A shocking example of the sort of slanderous material being leaked to the media was this story broadcast by WKRN in Nashville, Tenn., which reported that military prosecutors said marines went on “a killing rampage in November 2005 in Haditha, Iraq, after their Humvee was destroyed by a roadside bomb killing one marine and injuring two others.”

According to the WKRN report, “The surviving marines went on a
killing spree shooting two dozen Iraqi civilians including unarmed men in the
street and men, women, and children in their homes.”

They went on to quote one Gen. Jack Keane, rescribed as an ABC News consultant, who said that “at that point, there was a fundamental . . . breakdown in the chain of command. They became more like a gang than a military unit. The order and the discipline fundamentally broke down and they were seeking revenge.”

The Pentagon report, WKRN admitted, “did not find specific evidence of a cover-up but concludes that nobody was interested in investigating the allegations.”
The facts show that these reports are blatantly false, and typical of the shamefully distorted media coverage of the Haditha killings.

On April 3, the prosecution granted immunity to talk to prosecutors to Lt. Max Frank, who arrived at the scene after the IED blast of the explosion. The grant was made as part of an order to “cooperate and truthfully answer all questions posed by investigators.”

He has not been charged in the case.

According to Muise and Brian Rooney of the Thomas Moore Law Center both former Marine officers now representing Lt. Col. Chessani, Frank, who personally witnessed the scene of the attack shortly after the fighting and assisted with removing the civilian bodies from the insurgent-occupied homes, insisted that there was no evidence of “executions” and that he saw no evidence of misconduct.

Muise observed that Frank was testifying under a grant of immunity by the government, which he said added further credibility to his testimony.

Lt. Col. Shelburne, the military defense counsel for Chessani who questioned Kallop, noted, “This officer’s testimony is significant. He was on the scene shortly after the attack. He saw the location of the bodies. He personally observed the damage caused by the attack. And yet, he saw nothing that caused him to suspect any wrongdoing on the part of the Marines. Moreover, this officer was given immunity by the
government, so the only way he can get in trouble is if he testifies
untruthfully.”

Reid, Pelosi and Murtha should go. As starters.

The war in Iraq "is lost" and a US troop surge is failing to bring
peace to the country, the leader of the Democratic majority in the US Congress,
Harry Reid, said Thursday.

"I believe ... that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week," Reid said, on the same day US President George W. Bush was giving a speech at an Ohio town hall meeting defending the war on terror.

The right to impeach public officials is secured by the U.S. Constitution in Article I, Sections 2 and 3, which discuss the procedure, and in Article II, Section 4, which indicates the grounds for impeachment: "the President, Vice President, and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

Possibly, a better form of impeachment might be giving soldier's families, relatives of Iraqi's killed by the terrorists, and those trying to ensure Iraq's future 30 minutes in a locked room with Senator Harry Reid. Alone. No press. Leaving only a video to show to Nancy Pelosi, Schumer, et al.

Following up on her fabulously poor showing in Israel and Syria, Madamed Speaker Pelosi may be resurrecting her "Lamb Chop" act with Tom Lantos in Iran.

Pelosi, Lantos may be interested in diplomatic trip to Iran

Affairs Committee, were asked at a press conference in San Francisco
Tuesday whether on the heels of their recent trip to the Middle East they would
be interested in extending their diplomacy in the troubled region with a visit
to Iran.

"Speaking just for myself, I would be ready to get on a plane
tomorrow morning, because however objectionable, unfair and inaccurate many of (Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's) statements are, it is important that we have a dialogue with him,'' Lantos said. "Speaking for myself, I'm ready to
go -- and knowing the speaker, I think that she might be.''

Pelosi did not dispute that statement, and noted that Lantos -- a
Hungarian-born survivor of the Holocaust -- brought "great experience, knowledge and judgment" to the recent bipartisan congressional delegation trip to Israel, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia in addition to Syria.

"I find the president of Iran's remarks to be so repulsive that they
are outside the circle of civilized human behavior,'' Pelosi said, referring to
Ahmadinejad's past comments that Israel should be wiped off the face of the map
and his questioning of the existence of the Holocaust.

"But a person of Mr. Lantos' stature and personal experience is saying
that -- even as a Holocaust survivor and even recognizing the outrageous
statements of the president of Iran -- it's important to have dialogue. I think
that speaks volumes.''

With no super secret message from Olmert to deliver maybe the SanFranciscoTreat can pick up some take-out to give to Ahmadinejad. Maybe some Cha Siu Bao. I hear Chairman Short loves hot buns.

Lantos, mutely speaking volumes, wants nuclear technology for everyone.

Lantos noted that "with the speaker's support,'' he has
co-sponsored legislation in the House that calls for making available to all
countries -- including Iran -- nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes under
international oversight by establishing a "nuclear fuel bank."

"So if the Iranian president says that he is developing (nuclear
material) for peaceful purposes, we are assisting him in that process,'' said
Lantos, who anticipated the legislation could pass as early as May.

I'd call it the "Hot buns and spent rods" tour.

We can thank the US speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, for having
informed Syrian President Bashar Assad, from Beirut, that "the road to solving
Lebanon's problems passes through Damascus." Now, of course, all we need to do
is remind Pelosi that the spirit and letter of successive United Nations
Security Council resolutions, as well as Saudi and Egyptian efforts in recent
weeks, have been destined to ensure precisely the opposite: that Syria end its
meddling in Lebanese affairs.

Pelosi embarked on a fool's errand to Damascus
this week, and among the issues she said she would raise with Assad - when she
wasn't on the Lady Hester Stanhope tour in the capital of imprisoned dissidents
Aref Dalila, Michel Kilo, and Anwar Bunni - is "the role of Syria in supporting
Hamas and Hizbullah." What the speaker doesn't seem to have realized is that if
Syria is made an obligatory passage in American efforts to address the Lebanese
crisis, then Hizbullah will only gain. Once Assad is re-anointed gatekeeper in
Lebanon, he will have no incentive to concede anything, least of all to
dilettantes like Pelosi, on an organization that would be Syria's enforcer in
Beirut if it could re-impose its hegemony over its smaller neighbor.

"We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a
road to peace," Ms. Pelosi grandly declared.

Never mind that that statement is ludicrous: As any diplomat with knowledge of the region could have told Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Assad is a corrupt thug whose overriding priority at the moment is not peace with Israel but heading off U.N. charges that he orchestrated the murder of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri. The really striking development here is the attempt by a Democratic congressional leader to substitute her own foreign policy for that of a sitting Republican president. Two weeks ago Ms. Pelosi rammed legislation through the House of Representatives that would strip Mr. Bush of his authority as commander in chief to manage troop movements in Iraq. Now she is attempting to introduce a new Middle East policy that directly conflicts with that of the president. We have found much to criticize in Mr. Bush's military strategy and regional diplomacy. But Ms. Pelosi's attempt to establish a shadow presidency is not only counterproductive, it is foolish.

Calling Pelosi and her illegal mission foolish is a good start.
