I wish I could go about the country and collect these old beauties, pick them up and carry them to a new place. New trees, no pollution, no urban decay---and place them shoulder to shoulder on a new street cut just for them...

sjm - I have thought the same thing here in central Ohio. There are beautiful houses trapped under aluminum siding, or decaying in urban areas or doomed to new highway or project construction that could be saved. Why not build a small village, with a green and planned areas for the elderly and families with children using these wonderful orphaned homes? Cottages, medium and larger homes, oh, but I could go on.
