Meet Representative Cory Mason: Wisconsin’s Benedict Arnold?

According to a report on the Althouse blog this morning, it appears that Cory Mason, a Democrat member of the Assembly (or a member of his staff) is Wisconsin’s Benedict Arnold — the person who last night forced open a ground-floor window (all of them had been bolted shut as a security measure) and allowed a few protesters into the building after hours, who apparently were the ones who then opened various doors to permit a mob of something like 7,000 people to invade the Capitol Building – in violation not just of state law, but of a judge’s order:  “Staying after the building is closed, is prohibited.”

Rep. Mason, a hard-left progressive who apparently has a penchant for defying orders and whose top special-interest campaign contributors are, unsurprisingly, labor unions and teachers (see here), has been a member of the Wisconsin Assembly since 2006, representing Racine.

Mason doesn't believe in democratic elections, no, he's a hard core progressive that just happens to be the property of the Democratic Party, but I doubt he even believes in them. Mason marches to a different drummer, possibly one of the protest drummers wailing away in the capitol building. No, the will of the people means nothing to him except to bend or break that will when he feels like it. Oh, he's also a former union organizer. Figures.

He named his kids Eleanor Roosevelt, and Amelia Earhart. Thank goodness he didn't have a son. One can only imagine.

A bonus to that question is that if individuals such as this were not bringing their horrific thinking to America there would be no need for idiotic TV programming to combat negative stereotyping of Muslims.

Laughing At Democrat Crying

Tiny Cuts, Big Complaints
Republicans and Democrats squabble over crumbs as the layer cake of debt keeps rising.

In the context of federal spending that will total something like $3.8 trillion this year, $61 billion is a rounding error. Yet the Democrats resisting that amount in House-approved cuts say it will wreck the economy while leaving children unschooled, taking food from the mouths of the elderly, and casting disabled people into the streets.

Laughter is the only appropriate response to such predictions.In these absurd times, when both parties quibble over crumbs while the layer cake of debt rises higher and higher, laughter is a mark of fiscal seriousness.

Reminds me of when my daughter announced we were going on a trip around the world. I explained that due to work and family responsibilities I couldn't take the time off. She explained that I could stay at home and the rest of the family could go. My wife said that she couldn't take the time off to go around the world and our son said he couldn't miss school and practice, but my daughter explained she would go by herself. I then said that we couldn't afford the trip and there wasn't any reason to discuss it as a reality.

She wailed and cried stomping off to her room. I went to her and said that though we couldn't go on such a trip that she could still dream and plan for such a trip for herself one day. I was then informed by her that by the time she had that much money she'd be dead. Oh, and that I had absolutely ruined her entire life and that she might as well be dead.

That was 13 years ago and she has finished college and has worked many jobs, two at a time, to put money aside. I recently reminded her of her hysterics over never having been able to take her trip around the world. She started laughing and said she still gets embarrassed remembering her childish hyperbole.

She leaves for her trip next year and good for her because she earned it herself.

After doing the math, instead of spending $2000 a month, you'll going to have to cut that number by 6 cents.

I took approx. 44 years to build the cathedral which was a memorial to the Russian dead of 1812. When completed in 1883 it was the largest structure in Moscow.

In 1931 Joseph Stalin, the communist dictator, had the cathedral blown up because he said it was the breeding ground of "the narcotic" (religion).

Stalin wanted to replace this breeding ground with the absolutely ridiculous Palace of the Soviets. There was to be a 6,000 ton statue of Stalin atop the palace that, if finished, would have been taller than the Empire State Building.

Nikita Kruschev decided the empty space was an eyesore, much like our government produced with Urban Renewal, and decided to build a huge series of very large swimming pools. As with much centralized government planning and the mindset that goes with it, the design and construction was very poor and the pools leaked, sometimes they leaked in reverse allowing dirty water from the Moskva River to dirty the waters of the largest pool in the world.

By 1995, President Reagan had brought the Soviet Union to its knees and as freedom and religion again flourished in Russia construction on a new cathedral, to be identical to the original, began. It was completed in 2000.

Democrats to End Union Standoff

Sen. Mark Miller said he and his fellow Democrats intend to let the full Senate vote on Gov. Scott Walker's "budget-repair" bill, which includes the proposed limits on public unions' collective bargaining rights. The bill, which had been blocked because the missing Democrats were needed for the Senate to have enough members present to consider the bill, is expected to pass the Republican-controlled chamber.

He said he thinks recent polls showing voter discontent with Mr. Walker over limits on bargaining rights have been "disastrous" for the governor and give Democrats more leverage to seek changes in a broader two-year budget bill Mr. Walker proposed Tuesday.

But Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said Sunday night that the "budget repair" bill can not be amended at this point. But it's possible that over the next few weeks adjustments could be made to Mr. Walker's broader budget plan. "This bill will pass. The collective bargaining piece has to pass. If it doesn't the governor's budget doesn't work," he said.

As I said, they're caving because they hope they have built up enough good will among independents to carry them over what they know will be a rough patch. Well, also because layoffs are about to happen since they have refused to do their jobs, the Republicans are passing more substantive legislation and they have become the laughing stock in three states. They're theatrical fools. And their group is falling apart as it should.

Tout all the polls you want. The real poll will be the next election.
