SOMEONE POSTED...

This past election was a vote where many decent republican incumbents lost their jobs to unproven democrat candidates. Was more or less had a hate vote. An anti-bush and anti-Iraq vote. I can understand any persons opposition to either bush or the war in Iraq. But these are issues that were best to be addressed at our next presidential election. This short mindedness instead produced fallout on many statewide and local elections throughout the nation. A choice made out of emotional decisions based upon media sensationalism of unconnected events will be a choice that may cause irreparable harm to our nation 6 months from now or 5 years from now.

The strategy of the Democratic party this election was the same strategy they used in the last Mayoral election against Sam Katz. "If you vote for Sam Katz then your putting George Bush in city hall" Every ad I heard on the radio attacking Lynn Swann mentioned Bush. That was the basis of the whole Democratic campaign strategy. Connect your opponent to Bush. Read between the lines; There is no strategy.

To further this you have entire demographic segments of the population that blindly vote Democratic purely for reasons of thinking it the progressive thing to do, yet having no real understanding of politics. Being a Democrat appears to be the popular and trendy thing to do. As I canvassed my division trying to get new voter registrations I am appalled by the number of people who vote Republican but in actuality are registered as Democrats and are afraid of the stigma that may come with being affiliated with the Republican party.

In the last 2 weeks leading up to the election me and my fellow committee partners easily distributed about 1500 pieces of literature door to door and outside our polling place. In the 2 hours that led to the closing of the polls we must have knocked on the doors of dozens of registered Republicans who had not yet voted, and encouraged them to come out and show their support for Rick Santorum a man who has diligently worked to represent his constituents. What did the other side do? Use Santorum and Bush in the same sentence.

Foreign Affairs: A nation that's defended Europe from aggression in the 60 years since World War II is asking why Iraq can't defend itself. The fact is, Iraqis risk their lives for their country every day.

Clearly the days when Democrats warned of a long twilight struggle and pledged to pay any price and bear any burden to ensure the success and survival of liberty are over, judging from remarks by Carl Levin, incoming chairman of the Senate Armed Service Committee.

"We cannot save the Iraqis from themselves," Levin opined Wednesday at a Capitol Hill press conference. "The only way for Iraqi leaders to squarely face that reality is for President Bush to tell them that the United States will begin a phased redeployment of our forces within four to six months."

"We cannot be their security blanket," he added. But why not, if it's in our best long-term security interest?

Yes, we should demand more of the Iraqis. But those who ask whether we can or should stop Iraqis from killing themselves forget that we're in this to stop others from killing us and using Iraq as a base camp from which to do it.

We've been Europe's security blanket for six decades. We are Japan's security blanket. We are South Korea's. It's been said that were it not for us, the French would be speaking German and the Germans would be speaking Russian. In 1938, the West decided it couldn't be Czechoslovakia's security blanket and sold out that country in Munich, Germany. The rest, as they say, is history.

"Phased redeployment" is a code word for retreat, one that may one day, Senator Levin, lead to car bombs going off in the streets of Detroit, not Baghdad. We forget that this war really began when a truck bomb went off in the parking garage of the World Trade Center in 1993, nearly killing tens of thousands.

Iraqis — civilians, military and police — are risking their lives for their country every day, from the millions who proudly held up their purple fingers to the young police applicants who are murdered as they line up to serve their country. Then more line up in their place.

Are the Arabs ready for democracy or are they doomed by an ingrained tribalism? We need only to look at Lebanon, where a multicultural democracy once flourished. Beirut was called the Paris of the Middle East until the country became a human shield for the PLO and then Hezbollah terrorists supported by Syria and Iran.

The Lebanese might have sustained their multicultural democracy had we not cut and run after Hezbollah killed 241 Marines in Beirut in 1983, deciding we could no longer afford to be Lebanon's security blanket. Sometimes democracies need a little help from their friends.

Sectarian violence needs to be dealt with effectively by the new Iraqi government. But we are reminded that Americans did a good job of killing each other from 1861-65 in a war against ourselves that consumed more lives than all our other wars. We invented sectarian violence.

Democracy is a fragile and rare commodity. We forget how close this government of the people and by the people actually came to perishing from the earth. It might not ever have come into being if a French fleet hadn't provided a security blanket at Yorktown.

Our death toll in Iraq isn't close to the carnage of a single battle in World War II, Iwo Jima or one in our own Civil War, Antietam. Ironically, the place where John Murtha would have us "redeploy" to — Okinawa — was the site of one of the bloodiest battles in human history, due in part to the imperial Japanese version of the truck bomb, the kamikaze.

After Desert Storm we told the Iraqis to seize the moment, only to do nothing when they did and watch Saddam Hussein slaughter them. That sense of betrayal lingers and is not dampened by the results of the midterm election or the current talk of abandonment or redeployment.

If we want the Iraqis to step up to the plate, it doesn't help to be threatening to take our bats and balls and go home.

I have worked in the halls of Congress. No, not in the glamour areas, but in the nitty-gritty halls, conference rooms and offices where arguments are made, gives and takes occur and decisions are made. Without cameras, reporters nor press secretaries. I worked where the masks came off.

I have also worked in small companies and large corporations. (Non-profits reserve a special ring of hell for their political existence) In business I work the same areas where decisions are made and I have met the same people. Should I say the same type of people? Yes.

Who are these politician/everyday people?
1 Control freaks
2 Smart people
3 Hard workers
4 Creative people
5 Some sad people who owe their job to family
6 Losers who lucked out
7 Employee/Employer from hell
8 etc

I once had an employer (politician) who quietly told me that if a person believed only the worst about their boss or workers then the real problem resided within them.

I have found the halls of Congress reflect the streets of those they represent. If you see a Cynthia McKinney, then, if you look, you’ll see a Cynthia McKinney district within that snippet of time. If you observe a Pat Tiberi, then you will see a Pat Tiberi district. They reflect each other in the end.

Maybe I am just lucky, because I find (by far) the majority of politicians that I have worked for and with to be good people. They are everyday people (God have mercy on you Sly).

It is so sad that the cynical losers, that populate areas of our society at many levels, equate a good person to a bad person. What kind of loser would equate Ronald Reagan to Bob Ney, Jack Murtha and Jack Abramoff? How blind must a person be to equate an honest, but fallible George W. Bush to Alcee Hastings? One has worked hard to correct his faults and better himself and a nation, the other has nothing to offer anyone. In the end he will find that he offered even to himself, nothing.

Stop equating good people with Murtha, Hastings, Reid, Pelosi, Ney, Foley and Jack Abramoff. It reflects poorly on you as if you have something to hide yourself.

More than the inability to influence Iraq policy or the President’s tax cuts, Chuck Schumer says that the single greatest failure of the Democrats as an opposition party was allowing Samuel Alito to join the Supreme Court.

“Judges are the most important,” said Mr. Schumer, who orchestrated the implausible Democratic takeover of the Senate last week. “One more justice would have made it a 5-4 conservative, hard-right majority for a long time. That won’t happen.”

From now on, all the President’s judicial appointments will need to meet the requirements of Mr. Schumer, the Park Slope power broker who has happily accepted the mantle of chief architect for the Democrats’ effort to build a majority for the 2008 elections and beyond.

For one thing, Mr. Schumer said, New York will soon be “disproportionately”
enjoying the spoils of last week’s victory.

He said that the formula for determining which areas receive homeland-security funding will be changed to benefit places of high risk, like New York, and that more money will be sent to the city for health care and education, including the “No Child Left Behind Act” and special-education programs. He predicted increased federal
funding for a proposed tunnel between New York and New Jersey and the Second
Avenue subway line, and said that his own bill making college tuitions
tax-deductible—which the Republicans refused to renew in May—would be passed in the “first month or two” of the next session.

Schmer did not discuss other added benefits, such as "anti-aging" assistance to the ever growing number of illegal alien dead voters that voted Democrat in disproportionate numbers.

But refusing to not play the idiot, Schumer returned to the subject of international strategy and diplomacy.

Now, Mr. Schumer said, he hopes that a controversial plan strongly advocated by
Senator Joe Biden of Delaware—which essentially calls for the dissolution of
Iraq into three autonomous ethnic enclaves (and which Mr. Schumer quietly
supported last year)—will emerge as a concrete Democratic alternative to current
administration policy.

“It may actually move into play,” said Mr. Schumer. “I’ve always believed that the Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds hate each other more than they will ever love any central
government.”

Outside of Iraq, Mr. Schumer echoed his colleagues’ calls for more multilateralism and said the climate of greater comity would help in North Korea—“We are totally dependent on the Chinese,” he said—and in the Middle East.

“I really dislike the Syrians,” Mr. Schumer said. “That’s the problem here. But it probably ends up being better to talk to them than not.”

Mr. Schumer wanted to make clear that these will not be mere suggestions to be considered or discarded by the White House as the administration sees fit.

Simpson later said that this scenario was a "what if" and that there was a Democrat's non-involvement with taking our troops out of Iraq. Clarifying his earlier point, Simpson said that since Levin, Schummer, Pelosi, Reaid and Murtha were non-involved, they could justifiably state they were not covered with blood, adding that they would all join him in looking for the real killers.

Honoring veterans has always been a part of my family's history. I think Veterans Day became even more important during the Vietnam War. As the protestors screamed louder, our family prayed and thanked veterans more.

Future veterans, now serving in the WOT are distressed this Veterans Day. Pelosi in and Rumsfeld out has turned their world upside down. Their mission in foreign countries is important not to just the country, but also, in a personal way, to them.

DUBAI, Nov 10 (Reuters) - The leader of Iraq's al Qaeda wing on Friday
gloated over forcing outgoing U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to flee the
Iraqi battlefield and said his group would not rest until it blew up the White
House.

Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, said in a purported audio recording posted on the Internet that the group has 12,000 armed
fighters and 10,000 others waiting to be equipped to fight U.S. troops in Iraq.

"I swear by God we shall not rest from jihad until we ... blow up the filthiest house known as the White House," he said.

The Democrats' victory at U.S. Congressional elections on Tuesday were a step in the right direction, the speaker said.

"I tell the lame duck (U.S. administration) do not rush to escape as did your defence minister ... stay on the battleground," the speaker said. "The American people have taken a step in the right path to come out of their predicament ... they voted for a level of reason."

The authenticity of the tape could not be verified.

"The (U.S.) enemy if now wobbly. Today they are loading their gear to
flee," the speaker said.

ALLEGIANCE

The speaker vowed allegiance to Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, the head of a
Sunni Islamic state of Iraq's mostly Sunni Arab provinces announced in October
by al Qaeda and groups affiliated to it.

"I say to ... the ruler of believers (Baghdadi), I vow allegiance to you," he said, calling on all Sunni insurgents to follow suit. "I put under your command 12,000 fighters who are the army of the al Qaeda," he said.

The speaker blasted Bush as "the most stupid leader that America, the country of slaves and narcotics, has ever known".

He said Bush's policies had allowed Iran to spread its influence in Afghanistan and Iraq after Washington toppled their Sunni rulers, and expanded Iran's reach into Syria and Lebanon.

Yep, move along. No danger here, especially now that Madam Pelosi, et al is in charge. Of course, she won't be bothered by anything like listening in on poor terrorists planning the above mentioned acts of hate. Protecting Americans is unconstitutional as Pelosi, et al see it.

Stained election

Well, it has started.

First, all the likely libs said they weren’t going to impeach President Bush. Of course it implied that they really wanted bi-partisan cooperation and that they could successfully impeach President Bush. A win-win for the libs, in their mind.

Second, the libs announce that they are going to hold “hearings” about what led us into war and how that war has been handled. Conyers, this time, won’t have to hear the snickers such as when he held a “hearing” in the basement, demanded to be addressed as “chairman” by a nearly empty room.

Third, in their mind, the libs will just have to bow to public sentiment during these “hearings” and try to impeach President Bush. They will announce that the “clamor” from the 3 multiple personality members of DU and the 4 strong membership of the imagined reality-based community at kos as well as their staff forced their reluctant hand.

The media conglomerate Abcbsnbcnn and the Bostonwashingtonla Globepostimes in conjunction with AljazeeraGuardian will positively weep as each “revelation” is leaked out dribble by dribble to the incredulous reporter. Each “revelation” will appropriately show that it was/is worse than anyone thought/knew.

It was really all just revenge by one Bush for another Bush.

They’ll be half right. It is all about revenge and it includes a Bush.

There is no bi-partisan hopes coming from the Democrats and there is only one hope which is revenge against Bush for being Bush and against Republicans who dared to call Clinton’s lying under oath an impeachable offense.

Boiled down this is really about two failed presidential elections and a stained blue dress.

Even I didn’t expect less from the Democrats, but I’ve received it. How incredibly sad for Harry Pelosi, Charlie Conyers and their liberal peers.

Chafee proves he's a loser twice in three days

Lincoln Chaffee, who got bounced out of his Senate seat for not being liberal enough, is said to be making one of his final anti-American stances to be a "block" on John Bolton as our official ambassador to the United Nations.

We should have beaten Rhode Island to the punch and thrown his punk ass out years ago.

Lincoln Chaffee is unworthy of the title Senator. I hope someone "canes" him in the chamber.

Kids are not allowed to be kids. They can't have Christmas, Halloween, play tag or dodge ball, kiss a girl on the cheek or play "war" nor receive an education they need. Instead, students get mandated classes that have nothing to do with preparing students to be productive citizens.

The kids can't read, can't add and can't grow up to be productive citizens, but they know what we, as a country, need to be to become a "better" society of the world.

This last election will produce more of these "feelgood" laws in our Nanny State.

Harry Reid, religious man, is on the news relating how the Republicans wouldn't work with Democrats, but now Democrats will work with Republicans.

What hogwash.

Harry Reid has been one of the most duplicitous politicians on the Hill.

He speaks softly as he knifes you in the back.

Then he blames you for not voting for knife control. It is your fault.

If this is the beginning, the democrats will make partisanship unworkable whether they are in the majority and the minority.

After a sloppy campaign, George Allen showed real virtue today in accepting the vote as it stands. In a sharp contrast to his opponent, Allen showed respect to the voters of Virginia.

Steubenville, Ohio Voters Overwhelmingly Reject Speed Cameras

Steubenville, Ohio becomes the fourth US community that has voted on and rejected photo radar.

An overwhelming majority of voters in Steubenville, Ohio rejected the city's speed camera program yesterday in a referendum on whether the city ordinance authorizing the program should stand. With all precincts reporting, 76.2 percent of voters said "no."

The program began last year issuing nearly 7000 tickets worth $85 each to
motorists driving as little as 5 MPH over the speed limit. It would have
generated nearly $600,000 in revenue until Jefferson County Court of Common
Pleas Judge David E. Henderson struck down the city ordinance as illegal in March. Because the city is bound by contract to continue the services of German camera operator Traffipax, regardless of the program's legality, it defied the judge's order and reinstated an essentially identical ordinance to continue issuing citations.

Tuesday's vote puts an end to the traffic cameras and serves as a victory for attorney Gary Stern who won a class action lawsuit to return the money that
had been illegally collected from motorists. He also gathered enough signatures
to put the speed camera question to a vote of the people. The public has never
voted in favor of photo enforcement. Between 1991 and 1997, voters turned out in
Batavia, Illinois; Peoria, Arizona and Anchorage, Alaska to reject photo
radar.

Mary Herrera denying ballots to voters...

Yes - that's a strong claim - but it looks to be true. At Bernalillo County precinct 603 in Albququerque's NE Heights - where there are over 2400 registered voters, Herrera (who is also running for Secretary of State) only sent over 150 ballots. They ran out. A long time ago.

At a press conference today, Republicans called on Dem Clerk Mary Herrera to follow election law and get ENOUGH ballots at once out to the precincts where people are being turned away. Apparently, the same thing has happened in prectint 57 on Albuquerque's west side.

Mary Herrera's office has confirmed that they made a judgement call in sending over only 150 ballots to the Republcian heavy precinct 603. The Clerk's office sent over another 250 to try and alleviate the problem - a number NOBODY thinks is adequate.

And apparently this R heavy precinct had no provisional ballots available for the voters to use...a violation of federal election law.

The FBI is investigating an apparent attack by hackers that today shut down
the Internet Web site of U.S. Senate candidate Mike Bouchard.

Anyone trying to log on to MikeforMichigan.com gets a message saying
the site was shut down as a result of an attack by hackers.

David All, a spokesman for Bouchard's Republican campaign, said
attackers created a program that resulted in the site being bombarded with
massive requests for information that shut the site down. Workers were trying to
get the site back up but it was unlikely to happen before the polls closed, All
said.

and an auxiliary office of the Star-Ledger by chaining closed the main entrance
to the building as well as braking off keys in the side door entrances.

Desperate ploys such as using Hudson County Correctional Inmates to disrupt
press conferences or chaining closed the front door to our headquarters, will
not prevent us from informing voter's that Bob Menendez is under
Federal Criminal Investigation and is unfit to serve in the United States
Senate."

CBS-3 has not decided whether to air the footage. Eisner was upset a Gerlach for Congress sign was in a camera shot with his wife prior to voting, and grabbed the volunteer.

These expectations may well be overheated. Polls over the weekend suggested that
the contest was tightening, and some prognosticators on Monday were scaling back
their predictions, if ever so slightly. (Charlie Cook, the analyst who is one of
Washington’s chief setters of expectations, said in an e-mail message on Monday
that he was dropping the words “possibly more” from his House prediction of
“20-35, possibly more.”)

Some Democrats worry that those forecasts, accurate or not, may be setting the stage for a demoralizing election night, and one with lasting ramifications, sapping the party’s spirit and energy heading into the 2008 presidential election cycle.

“Two years ago, winning 14 seats in the House would have been a pipe dream,” said Matt Bennett, a founder of Third Way, a moderate Democratic organization. Now, Mr. Bennett said, failure to win the House, even by one seat, would send Democrats diving under their beds (not to mention what it might do to all the pundits).

“It would be crushing,” he said. “It would be extremely difficult.” Mr. Cook put it more succinctly. “I think you’d see a Jim Jones situation — it would be a mass suicide,” he said.

Many of these predictions had been based on polls showing that President Bush,
the Republican Party and Congress were extraordinarily unpopular. But going into Election Day, at least 20 House seats and probably 3 Senate seats were tied or close to it, no matter what the national polls say.

In my mind there is simply no reason not to vote Republican. There are no moral victories to be had tomorrow. We need to fight to win and settle policy disputes later.

• Abuse of Power? : Another DCCC ad claims Joy Padgett, an Ohio Republican running for Bob Ney's House seat, was investigated "for abusing her position to help her own business." The ad is misleading. It's true that Ohio's Inspector General received a complaint – from somebody requesting anonymity – claiming that Padgett had abused her position as director of the Governor's Office of Appalachia by coercing would-be grant recipients to buy goods from her office supply business. The IG did investigate, but what the ad fails to mention is that the investigation found "no substance to the allegation."

That Inspector General's report also noted in passing that appearances can be deceiving. It said public officials "should be aware that while such appearances may often have no basis in fact, they may be incorrectly assumed as fact by the casual observer." The message to officials is to be careful of how things look. But citizens should be equally careful not to be a "casual observer" of political spots. Examined carefully they often turn out to have "no basis in fact," either.

In an interview from her Capitol office, Pelosi characterized Tuesday's vote as
a referendum on the war, shrugged off President Bush's efforts to make her
liberalism a national issue, described the current GOP leadership as a "freak
show," and expressed confidence about her party's prospects to pick up the 15
seats it needs for a majority.

Pelosi cautioned that the number of Democratic House victories could be higher
or lower and said her greatest concern is over the integrity of the count --
from the reliability of electronic voting machines to her worries that
Republicans will try to manipulate the outcome.

Monday, October 30, 2006 WAIS 770 AM KOOK Radio gave a lesson in media bias. No half measures at this Kook station. On the morning "View Point" call in show, Sharon Elliott, moderator announced she was having a special guest at 9:45 for the last 15 minutes of the hour program. However, Elliott did not identify the guest. The guest turned out to be Zach Space, (D) running for 18th District U.S. House.

Most commercial radio stations with a pending interview with a major political candidate would promote the interview. A simple question is why would Elliott hide the identity of a guest and not promote his appearance. Simple answer is Elliott didn't want people who would challenge Space to call the program.

Once Space appeared he quickly gave a little stump speech then started taking phone calls. The lines were loaded with political friends. Space took three questions that came directly from his web sites talking points, and gave rehearsed answers.

Elliott then quickly stated that she knew Space was busy and had to leave. Elliott then said, "all you people on hold are not going to get to ask questions". Even though there was still nine minutes left in the program.

Elliott routinely belittles Joy Padgett (R), which is the republican candidate for this office. Before ending the program, Elliott said, I was really impressed with the questions the callers had for Zach Space.

I was really impressed with the Dog and Pony show. Dan Rather could take notes!

No surprise here. Zack continues to cut and run. And hide.

Evidently Marc Dann is a sexist. Here's the email I received from Women for Betty:

I urge you to e-mail this message to several of your women friends. Yesterday I
had the opportunity to attend the debate between Betty Montgomery and her
opponent in the race for Attorney General at The City Club in Cleveland. While I
expected an interesting and possibly heated debate, I had no idea I would leave
the City Club feeling completely appalled by Marc Dann’s unbelievable sexist
comments.Marc Dann, running a wholly negative campaign, ran out of ideas and
decided to offend everyone at the debate with an outrageous story. Dann offered
up a piece of fiction in which he found his wife and her friends on chairs,
scared witless by a mouse. He then went on to compare Montgomery to his fat,
lazy cat. He botched the joke, because nobody was laughing.During the Q&A
session, an older gentleman stood to say that he had been highly offended by
Dann’s chauvinistic comments and asked Dann if he intended to bring that same
sexist attitude to the Attorney General’s office if he should be elected. The
gentleman, then asked Dann to clarify his sexist remarks. Dann replied with a
smirk, "I'm only repeating what I saw." The audience, fed up with Marc's
classless remarks, booed candidate Dann as the debate closed.Betty, when asked
by the moderator to respond said, "I am just speechless. All I can say is that I
wouldn't have been on a chair. I'd have been the first to get a broom."

There ya have it. If you honestly think Marc Dann is the right candidate for Attorney General, I am just speechless.
