Iraq: Spinning out of control

It has started. Baker & Hamilton, et al are reported to recommend that almost all of our troops should be out of Iraq by the first quarter of 2008.

The press here in the United States will pound all their drums throughout the jungle to make it happen.

London to Paris to Rome to Peking with stops in Moscow, North Korea and points in between will bray that the "once" vaunted super power, the United States of America, just isn't up to it anymore. That the "once" great U. S. of A. has lost "it" as well as its way.

Our newly elected leaders in Washington will wring their hands and cry over their love of America, its troops and all that is good in the world. Then they'll investigate, make more statements and chip away at Bush and the war all in hopes of winning the White House and keep both Houses in 2008.

World "leaders" will, in their best snippy tones, sadly, proudly or arrogantly tell all who might listen that if only that cowboy and America had not ignorantly gone it alone, well, maybe things would have turned out differently.

Terrorists every where will be more emboldened, attacking more civilians and killing more troops with their cowardly attacks. Our troop's moral will begin to bend and sink. The press and world "leaders" will blame Bush and the Neo Cons for both. America's haters, both domestic and foreign, will grow stronger.

If they succeed, we will leave Iraq by 2008.

Iraq will be torn apart. The leaders and people of Iraq who trusted us will see their hopes and dreams die and they will hate us for it. At least those still alive.

The Arab and Muslim world will explode. Moderates will be hunted down and murdered. Extremists and their terrorist squads will hunt worldwide at will.

The free world will, at the very least, be shaken to its core.

All because Baker & Hamilton, et al, in their arrogance, thought they were still in the 1960's and 70's. As does the press. They failed America then and they are doing so now, but then only millions died when America ran away.

Somebody please wake me from this nightmare.

in the entire history of the United States" and "worse than a civil war," former
Vice President Gore urged President Bush to find a way to get U.S. troops out of
Iraq "as quickly as possible without making the situation worse" while appearing
this morning on NBC’s "Today."

Worst? How about not responding to:

1995 US soldier killings with bombs in Saudi Arabia
1996 Khobar Tower slaughter
1998 US embassy bombings with 224 dead, 5,oo injured

"I would urge the President to try to separate out the personal issues of being
blamed in history for his mistake and instead recognizing that it is not about
him. It’s about our country," Gore said in an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer.

When asked if he would pull U.S. troops out of Iraq even it was seen as a defeat
for the U.S., Gore dodged the question, saying if he were president, he would
have "the full flow of information" and he would be able to test these ideas.

On the question of whether he would run for president in 2008, Gore once again
said he is involved in a different kind of campaign – to educate people about
climate change – and that he isn’t planning to do so but he hasn’t completely
ruled it out.

in 2008, Gore said once again, "I think it’s too early to evaluate the

Why Republicans lost in Ohio

State Rep. Chris Redfern, chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, announced
yesterday that he plans to marry Republican fundraiser Kim Kahlert next
year.

They would like to have Gov.-elect Ted Strickland perform the ceremony,
if Ohio law permits it. Strickland, an ordained Methodist minister and Democrat,
takes office Jan. 8.

Redfern, 42, and Kahlert, 31, met at a political event in March in
Columbus.

"Kim just needs a little direction politically, and I'm providing it,"
joked Redfern, of Catawba Island in northern Ohio.

Franklin County elections records show Kahlert declared herself a
Republican in the May primary. But she said she may be more liberal than Redfern
in some of her views and considers herself an independent.

"As far as social issues, I'm as far on the left as I could possibly
be," she said.

Minutes after the results were announced, Chavez appeared on the balcony of
the presidential palace singing the national anthem. He pledged to
deepen his effort to transform Venezuela into a socialist society.

"Long live the socialist revolution! Destiny has been written," Chavez
shouted to thousands of flag-waving supporters wearing red shirts and braving a
pouring rain.

"That new era has begun," he said, raising a hand in the air. "We have
shown that Venezuela is red!... No one should fear socialism... Socialism is

world!"

Since he first won office in 1998, Chavez has increasingly dominated
all branches of government and his allies now control congress, state offices
and the judiciary. He has called President Bush the devil, allied himself with
Iran and influenced elections across the region.

Chavez also has used Venezuela's oil wealth to his political advantage.
He has channeled oil profits toward multibillion-dollar programs for the poor
including subsidized food, free university education and cash benefits for
single mothers. He has also helped allies from Cuba to Bolivia with oil and
petrodollars.

He now promises to solidify his social program.

Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients
• 2 pounds alligator meat
• 2 teaspoons paprika
• 1 cup white vinegar
• 1 cup chopped red onions (large pieces)
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 2 teaspoons minced garlic

Preparation
Cut meat into bite-sized pieces and sprinkle with paprika.
Coat skillet with cooking spray and cook meat on medium for 6 to 7 minutes.
Remove meat from skillet and let cool.
When meat is cool combine with vinegar, onions, oil and garlic.
Refrigerate overnight, stirring occasionally.
Remove meat and onions from marinade and serve with salad greens or pasta.

would allow schools to reject the screenings, even though he felt the current
laws were "probably more lenient in this situation than is probably

House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters on Wednesday that she
feels it is "sad" that President Bush continues to blame Iraqi insurgent
violence on al Qaeda.

Sad? Sad is when your bambino doesn't make the grade or when the anti-pasto is too vinergary. It is tragic when House Speaker-elect is too stupid to represent America, let alone protect it or its soldiers.

I was all for giving this person a two year run to embarass her party, but now it is apparent that she is criminally stupid.

Jim Webb is everyone's crazy uncle

When I moved to Virginia in 1984 I was returning to the home of my ancestors. My ancestors were honest hardworking people who lived in places ranging from Jamestown to Goochland county. My great x 3 grandfather built outside of Cartersville, Virginia in 1750 and lived their until carpetbaggers tried to take their home and land. My great-great grandfather hoodwinked them with land swaps, was able to sneak his saw mill out under the cover of darkness and moved the family to lands granted other family members by Lord Fairfax in Ohio. They had lived in Virginia for over 220 years.

In 1984, Ronald Reagan invited us then still young people to be part of the Reagan Revolution and I answered the call. I worked on Capitol Hill and lived in Dumfries just south of the Occoquan. I loved Virginia. It felt like home.

James Webb seemed quite the dashing man as he rose through the Reagan administration. I read his books, read and saw him on the Hill and Webb appeared brash and good for what ailed the military in a post Carter world.

The Jim Webb I saw on the campaign trail for one of the Virginia senate seats this last election was a caricature of the James Webb I saw during the Reagan years. Reagan, supposedly one of Webb's favorite Presidents, would be ashamed to be seen with Webb today. The Gipper believed Teddy and spoke quietly while carrying a big stick. Webb talks loudly and totes a small mindedness.

"How's your boy?" Bush asked, referring to Webb's son, a Marine serving in
Iraq.

"I'd like to get them out of Iraq, Mr. President," Webb responded,
echoing a campaign theme.

"That's not what I asked you," Bush said. "How's your boy?"

"That's between me and my boy, Mr. President," Webb said coldly, ending
the conversation on the State Floor of the East Wing of the White House.

Jimmy Webb hasn't even been sworn in yet and has already become an embarassment.

Iraq: Civil War

Okay, Matt Lauer and other media scholars have made the call for their own reasons that Iraq is officially doomed by civil war. Thus, they just must ask the question about how fast does the United States get out.

They have their own agenda.

They are either morons or against a free and democratic Iraq. Which is worse?

Sunni, Shia, Kurd and the Iraqi government. These players have agendas of their own and those agendas do not seem to even agree about what they are fighting about.

Could Iraq be the first civil war ever without battles, generals, explicit war
aims, the use of partisan public rhetoric by civilian leaders, mass public
participation and targets of a predominantly military nature? Even if Iraq today
possessed these characteristics, it would still lack something even more
important: the struggle for authority.

The Kurds are looking on not wanting any part. The Shias, Shites and the Iraqi government do agree on the issue of not screwing with the Kurds. Thank God for their innate sense of surviving humiliation that Hamas, Hezballah and their buddies lack. The Kurds could form their own government and country if they choose to, even against President Bush and Turkey. Probably Iran too.

The Sunnis, both secular Baathists and the zealot Wahhabists, have created much of the murder and hatred as they have since their born in hell alliance wedded them. They take and hold no ground. They make no organized, let alone eloquent, plea for national unity nor present consistent reason for their effort. They are thugs. They are not a force that would drive the nation to their side mentally, loyally and politically. They are terrorists.

They Shias are a fractured group within which the two sides have different goals. Muqtada al-Sadr and his followers and their allies formed against Hussein while he still sat in power. The "redheaded" step child of this union are the Badr group and allies and they are sock puppets for Iran where many trained and who they have allegiance to. Sadr is nationalistic and Badr is pan-Iranian. Together, they couldn't organize a decent (dysfunctional) family picnic let alone a national government.

The Iraqi national Government is neither. It is fully infiltrated by both Sunni and Shia and at different levels of government affairs they undermine the dream of national unity.

Iran is the puppet master in Iraq. Iran is playing all ends against the middle for their own gain. It is bad enough that Iran has a free Afghanistan to the east, they cannot afford a free and independent Iraq to the west. This is an affront to Iran as a power and a threat to their goal of Iran becoming the regional leader to destroy Israel. If they can achieve this destruction, Iran believes the rest of the world is do-able.

Iran, with the help of Hamas, Hezballah and other middle eastern countries and groups, is working hard to take the United States out of the game so as not to be flanked east and west. Russia is encouraging Iran as China encourages North Korea to act up for their own goals. Russia wants a unstable world of non-American power and China, at the very least, wants Taiwan. That there would be a middle east of theocracies robbing individuals, groups and governments of their freedom and their lives for not sharing a theocratic vision is of no concern of theirs, but each urges Iran on for their own goals.

There is no civil war in Iraq, just time honored thievery, thuggery and murder with each noun having its own goal. It is time for those that wish to see freedom fail in Iraq to state what their real goals are.
