Detroit Clamping Down on Employee Scents
City officials in Detroit say workers at three city buildings will soon have to monitor their scents or face possible warnings.
...
The new regulations are the result of the city's settlement of a 2008 lawsuit filed by a city planner, who claimed she had breathing sensitivity due to a co-worker's perfume.
Whatever you like is next.
...Virtue, morality, and religion. This is the armor, my friend, and this alone that renders us invincible. These are the tactics we should study. If we lose these, we are conquered, fallen indeed... Patrick Henry (1736-1799) US Founding Father

Health Care Reform: Strike 2
The first strike was a fast ball right down the center with Scott Brown's victory as the 41st vote against HCR,
The second strike was a curve ball by the Senate Parliamentarian stating that Democrats can't use illegal substitutions under the rules.
Ruling Kills an Option for Moving Health Bill
The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled that President Barack Obama must sign Congress’ original health care reform bill before the Senate can act on a companion reconciliation package, senior GOP sources said Thursday.
House Democratic leaders have been searching for a way to ensure that any move they make to approve the Senate-passed $871 billion health care reform bill is followed by Senate action on a reconciliation package of adjustments to the original bill. One idea is to have the House and Senate act on reconciliation prior to House action on the Senate’s original health care bill.
Information Republicans say they have received from the Senate Parliamentarian’s Office eliminates that option. House Democratic leaders last week began looking at crafting a legislative rule that would allow the House to approve the Senate health care bill, but not forward it to Obama for his signature until the Senate clears the reconciliation package.
The administration, Pelosi and Reid, no friends of Hoyle, didn't see this one coming and just stared as it went over the plate.

Democrats Lie, Deny, Bribe, Blackmail And Extort For Health Care 'Reform'
Pay for play - The "Louisiana purchase" $300 million to bolster that state's Medicaid program to buy Sen. Mary Landrieu’s vote.
The "Cornhusker kickback" $100 million to Medicaid for Sen. Ben Nelson’s vote.
Florida's "Gator Aid" a Medicare deal potentially worth $5 billion, a hefty price for Sen. Bill Nelson's vote.
Billions in direct, indirect and kickbacks to unions who will also get to be part of the decision making process and will become even more powerful as work groups such as state reimbursed home health care workers would be forced to join unions and unions would get lucrative contracts to do training nationwide as a recruitment tool.
Vermont and Massachusetts $100s of millions to cover increased Medicaid costs
Connecticut will get $100 million for a hospital thanks to mortgage artist Chris Dodd.
Nebraska and Michigan nonprofit insurance companies will be exempt from having to pay for a $7 billion tax to pay for HCR thanks to Carl Levin and Ben Nelson.
Several states will see an increase in Medicare payments to hospitals and doctors, the NYT reports, “where at least 50 percent of the counties are ‘frontier counties,’ defined as those having a population density less than six people per square mile. And which are the lucky states? The bill gives no clue. But the Congressional Budget Office has determined that Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming meet the criteria.”
Via NYT: “Another provision of the bill would increase Medicare payments to certain “low-volume hospitals” treating limited numbers of Medicare patients. Senator Tom Harkin, Democrat of Iowa and chairman of the Senate health committee, said this ‘important fix’ would help midsize Iowa hospitals in Grinnell, Keokuk and Spirit Lake. Another item in Mr. Reid’s package specifies the data that Medicare officials should use in adjusting payments to hospitals to reflect local wage levels. The officials can use certain new data only if it produces a higher index and therefore higher Medicare payments for these hospitals. Senate Democrats said this provision would benefit hospitals in Connecticut and Michigan.”
$300 million to increase federal Medicare payments to doctors in a wide swath of the state in response to complaints that low reimbursement rates have kept them from taking new patients. Rep. Sam Farr (D-Carmel).
Via Politico: “Three states – Pennsylvania, New York and Florida – all won protections for their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries at a time when the program is facing cuts nationwide.”
An increase in Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments for Hawaii, meaning 49 other states will pay more in taxes so that Hawaii can receive this special benefit.
Exempts Medigap supplemental insurance plans sold by Mutual of Omaha, headquartered in Nebraska, from the new tax on health insurance companies.
Via the Burlington Free Press: Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., scored a big victory, too, with the inclusion in the amendment package of $10 billion to expand community health centers across the country — including at least two more in Vermont.
“We are talking about a revolution in primary care here,” Sanders said. Funding community health centers in an additional 10,000 communities would extend primary care to 25 million more Americans. The $10 billion, added at Sanders’ request, would also ensure there would be medical professionals to provide primary care by expanding the National Health Service Corps by an additional 20,000 slots. Doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals who agree to work in areas where there are limited medical services get help paying off their school loans. The House version of the health care reform bill contains $14 billion for these initiatives. Sanders said he was hopeful the final amount, which will be hammered out in negotiations between the House and Senate, would be closer to $14 billion.
AARP through Philip Klein: $18 million in stimulus money and the Medigap royalty/kickback scheme.
Abortion Lies - Pro abortion- Attorney Mary Harned of Americans United for Life, has also examined the abortion sections of Reid’s new measure, which she says “provides for an unprecedented expansion of federally-funded abortion. ”
“The bill includes pro-abortion language and mirrors the false compromise Capps Amendment from the House debate — it allows the public option to include abortion coverage and provides federal subsidies for private plans which cover abortion,” she said.
Change, ignore or break the rules – First the Massachusetts Demos changed the law to prevent Republican Mitt Romney from appointing a vacant Senate seat, then they did a 180 to get a temporary senator put in place to vote for HCR. The HCR vote didn’t happen in time and Republican Scott Brown won the seat so the Demos then tried to delay his being seated. Voters beat them in the election and then forced them to follow the law and seat Brown.
Ignore Congressional rules -- from the failure to appoint a "conference committee"
Break the rules and not negotiate differences between the House and Senate bills
Undermine the process using plans to use the reconciliation process to bypass a Republican filibuster.
Then there is The Slaughter Solution - House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the health care overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.
Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version.
Bribery - Rep Jim Matheson (D-Utah) suggested that he might be willing to switch his vote and support the latest version of ObamaCare than his brother was nominated for a federal judgeship.
Alan Mollohan (D-W.Va.) is also on the undecided list. And, purely by coincidence no doubt, the Justice Department just announced that it is dropping an FBI investigation that has been swirling about the congressman. Gosh, if only Charlie Rangel were one of the undecideds.
Democrat Rep. Joe Sestak in Pennsylvania admitted to veteran Philly newsman Larry Kane that Team Obama dangled a “high-ranking” position in the administration if he dropped out of the Senate race and left incumbent Republican-turned Democrat Sen. Arlen Specter alone, a HCR supporter.
In Colorado, the Denver Post reported last fall that Deputy White House Chief of Staff Jim Messina “offered specific suggestions” for an Obama administration job to far Left Democrat Andrew Romanoff if he withdrew his challenge to White House-backed incumbent Democrat Sen. Michael Bennet, a HCR supporter.
Blackmail - On-the-fence Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln is getting a primary challenger with some backing from the national Democratic machine.
Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), whose opposition to abortion funding has become one of the bill's biggest hurdles, is now seeing attacks on his ethics. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow recently questioned the legality of the low rent that a conservative Christian group charges Stupak for his DC apartment. She even noted ominously that disgraced South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford stayed at the same building. The liberal blog Daily Kos has picked up on the charges and suggested that both the IRS and the House Ethics Committee investigate.
Gag the doctors - Senate Demos are only extending Medicare doctor payments at their current levels for one month instead of the usual year to silence doctors from opposing HCR. If the doctors oppose HCR they will suffer a 21% cut in payments. This is being used to keep the deplorable AMA in line and endorsing ObamaCare.
(Thanks to Michelle Malkin, WSJ, Politico, congressional sites, the NYT, various other sources. This is NOT a complete list, but it is a start.)

Demos (And Our Boy Lindsey) Twist Immigration For More Government

Sen. Schumer’s Immigration Reform Is a National ID
So reports the Wall Street Journal:
Lawmakers working to craft a new comprehensive immigration bill have settled on a way to prevent employers from hiring illegal immigrants: a national biometric identification card all American workers would eventually be required to obtain.
It’s the natural evolution of the policy called “internal enforcement” of immigration law, as I wrote in my paper, “Franz Kafka’s Solution to Illegal Immigration.”
Once in place, watch for this national ID to regulate access to financial services, housing, medical care and prescriptions—and, of course, serve as an internal passport.

Governor To Establish Ohio Council On Dimons And Earls
In his never ending attempt to harness more votes, Governor Strickland will soon announce the new Council on Dimon and Earls which is another attempt to sway voters through excessive petting.
Strickland will state, "I'm not sure how many Dimons there might be, but in my neck of the woods there are Earls out the butt and they, as a group, need representation beyond what they have received in the past. As a patriarchal dynasty they have entered to positions of familial power hence forth unseen. This council will play a vital role in helping engage individuals, organizations, and communities across the state to further strengthen the role of Dimons (and Earls) in our society.”
No doubt, there will be a council on simians and curs in the near future. One should never leave the relatives out.

Lindsey, Lindsey. Y'all Just Don't Get It.
Obama and the Demos are trying to alter the very basic ideas of the United States and you want to form a gang to help these thugs do as they wish?
Democrats: No thanks to new 'Gang of 14'
Graham said Tuesday that a coalition of Republican and Democratic senators could rescue the Senate from an institutional disaster brought on by the use of the parliamentary maneuver known as reconciliation to finish the health care bill.
.
Sen. Graham, the way to a senatorial compromise is through constitutional means and the free market, not through means to first "rescue" your precious Senate in place of rescuing our means of governance.
UPDATE: An emailer suggested a South Carolina resolution, but I disagree.

Why Not Ohio? Green $800,000 Per Year Jobs
I love wind power, especially when you hear that main sail snap during a tack. It is awesome, but wind power as envisioned here in Ohio isn't a sail, but a noisy and huge boondoggle that is expensive and not cost effective. Oh, and if wind power provided by wind farms is "green" then the green movement really has little to do with environmentalism and a lot more to do with green power.
Released Emails Show Wind Lobby, Soros Group Helped with White House PR
The emails show that the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) coordinated their response to a damning Spanish report on “green jobs” with wind industry lobbyists and the Center for American Progress (the progressive think tank founded by John Podesta and funded by George Soros).
The report from Spain’s Universidad Rey Juan Carlos — which was the subject of a George Will column in the Washington Post on June 25, 2009 — showed each “green job” that had been added by Spain’s aggressive wind energy program cost Spain nearly $800,000 and resulted in the loss of 2.2 jobs elsewhere in the economy.
Eight times, Obama had publicly referred to Spain’s program as being a model for a U.S. wind energy program.
Americans being manipulated by the scare tactics of the "green" movement is one thing, but when the "green" movement is being manipulated by foreign political influence, it becomes a manipulation too far. What do the funders and drivers of this movement plan to get in return. In Soros' mind, as history shows, it is massive amounts of money, profit, in terms of billions of dollars.
Soros' followers in the chase for the green will be left broke, unemployed and disgraced in the eyes of the people who will be left with huge ugly facilities that cannot perform as advertised, i.e., provide power to the people.
Why not Ohio? Hopefully because Ohio is too smart to be fooled by this hogwash.

Green Party Dying
Which is too bad as it siphons off a lot of votes from the Democrats.
Green Party in California trying to stem shrinking numbers
With its agenda embracing universal health care, public financing of elections, legalization of undocumented immigrants and free birth control, the party promotes far more than environmentalism.

"Rahm Emanuel is son of the devil's spawn... He is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote. He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive."-- Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY), in a radio interview, on the White House chief of staff.

Crafternoon Revolution For Laura Mitchell At UCD

My, how does one have time to actually find time for a quality education while attending UCD even if one is a 5th year student?
Let's look at just the beginning of the 5th year in the life of Laura Mitchell, Women's Studies major, revolutionary and leader/spokeswomyn/generally busy student.
We are excited to announce that the LGBTRC is planning its first Queer Leadership Retreat to take place from January 22-24th 2010! Some of the objectives of the Queer Leadership Retreat include:
- Empowering LGBTIQ students
- Building community
- Providing a safe space for students to develop leadership skills
- Developing strategies for consciousness-raising within
our various communities
- Setting community goals
- Educating ourselves and raising awareness about issues
w/in the community
The retreat will include workshops and team-building activities, as well as academic resources and an alumni panel. The retreat will provide a unique opportunity for students to network, learn, and share their own knowledge and experiences. We hope that you can take part in planning the retreat and/or by attending either as a facilitator or participant.
Bisexual Awareness Week
Beyond the Binary is an LGBT Resource Center annual awareness week dedicated to educating about and celebrating non-monosexual, and many other intersecting, identities. Events during this week include a social visibility kickoff, keynote speaker, panels and workshops, Safe-Zone training, and a Bi Visibility Project closed non-monosexual discussion. For more information, please contact Laura Mitchell at lmitchell@ucdavis.edu.
Beyond the Binary 2010 Schedule of Events:
Monday, January 25th
• Bi 101: 12-1PM @ The LGBTRC
This workshop will go over the basics of bisexuality and nonmonosexuality and will include a review of terms, an overview of basic issues, and a facilitated discussion. This will be a safe space for getting those questions answered!
• Art Reception: 3-7PM @ The King Lounge (MU)
This exhibit will bring together artists from across the community to celebrate our many experiences in a provoking and empowering collection of perspectives. Artists will be present during the reception to discuss their work and food & drinks will be provided.
Tuesday, January 26th
• Safe Zone: 12-3PM @ The Mee Room (MU)
Safe Zone is a three-hour training designed to raise awareness and discuss ways to make the spaces we live and work in more welcoming and safe for LGBTQ people. After completing the training, you have the option of receiving a sign to designate your space as a Safe Zone.
To register e-mail slatkinson@ucdavis.edu or call 530.752.2452.
• Keynote Speaker, Sonia-Melitta Diaz Montoya: 6-7:30PM @ The King Lounge (MU)
Sonia-Melitta Montoya is a proud bi queer femme womyn of color, fierce Xicana womynist, first generation/transfer college graduate, daughter/granddaughter of mine-mill smelter & farm workers' and labor union organizers, and a survivor. She will give a talk on her intersections of identity and how her experiences have shaped her love, passion, and commitment working with underrepresented/marginalized communities to dismantle all forms of oppressions.
Wednesday, January 27th
• Biphobia Makes me Blue: 11AM-12PM @ The Garrison Room (MU)
This workshop will start with an introductory group discussion, then will divide into two groups: nonmonosexuals and allies. The nonmonosexual group will focus on understanding and challenging internalized biphobia. The allies will further discuss what it means to be an ally to nonmonosexual people.
• That’s So Bleep: 1-2PM @ The LGBTRC
This program is designed to raise awareness of the relationship between hate speech, prejudice, and oppression. The program analyzes the roots of hate speech and strives to dissolve the bigotry evident in the 21st century in order to unify and rebuild communities through words and actions.
• What It Is That We Do: 4PM-5PM @ Garrison Room
Looking "beyond the binary" gives us a chance to learn about other forms of sexuality. For many people, BDSM - bondage, discipline, dominance/submission, and sadomasochism - offers a different and compelling way to express love, lust and affection. Through consciously and carefully playing with power, control, and even pain, some lovers find themselves closer and more fulfilled. Come learn about the practices, language, hearts and minds of happily self-proclaimed "perverts" and see if you find out something surprising!
Thursday, January 28th
• BIPOC (Bi People of Color) Workshop: 11AM-12PM @ The Moss Room (MU)
Come and join us for a workshop full of celebration, affirmation, and appreciation of bisexual people of color! This workshop will include a facilitated discussion about the issues that effect bisexual, nonmonosexual, queer communities of color.
• Non-Traditional Relationship/Family Structure: 4-5PM @ The Garrison Room (MU)
Just like homo- and heterosexuality are only two of a vast number of sexual orientations, so also are "coupled" and "single" only two of a vast number of ways to relate to loved ones. Monogamy doesn't work for everyone, and many people have chosen to negotiate different kinds of commitments with their loved ones, including open (non-monogamous) relationships and polyamory (being openly, consensually in love with more than one partner at the same time). Please join us for a discussion about the many ways that people come together and make families of every kind imaginable!
• Student Performance Night: 7-9PM @ The King Lounge (MU)
Enjoy a combination of student and professional performances celebrating bi identity! Performance art will be embraced as a form of resistance and resilience. Expect a range of artistic forms, such as music, dance, theater, literature, and the visual arts. Food & drinks will be provided.
Friday, January 29th
• Crafternoon: 3-5PM @ The LGBTRC
This week’s Crafternoon will look beyond the binary system of the family tree to create art that acknowledges the many diverse forms of family and the families we build around us. Crafternoons is a weekly social and crafting event; new craft projects are taught each week and all supplies are provided.
• BiVis Closed Meeting: 5-7PM in the Righteous Babes Lounge (WRRC)
This discussion is a safe space for people who identify with nonmonosexual identities such as pansexual, bisexual, omnisexual, fluid, or questioning to share our experiences and thoughts. We have been meeting for two years! What do we want the next year to look like?

Her parents keep her hidden away at a coastal town amongst the dunes of the shoreline, buying time before they must decide on a life-threatening operation. Refreshments provided.

Refreshments provided.

Pet Stark And His 'Vincent Gigante' Act Take Gavel Of Ways And Means
However much Demos needed Pete Starks (D-CA) vote, that didn't mean they wanted to hang out with a guy who valued his urine so that he'd never waste it on a constituent's leg.
Pete Stark is crazy. Pete Stark also started a bank and built it into his becoming a millionaire. Pete Stark was also lucid enough to leave his birthplace in the cold north and settle in the more temperate Bay Area of California.
The Democrats rightfully fear that Pete Stark, as Chairman of Ways and Means, will become the face of the Democratic Party and they are scared. They should be because Pete Stark is not the image they want in the media, especially when he starts to bark.
Pete Stark is the political version of Vincent Gigante. He acts crazy when isn't which gives him latitude to be rude, disturbing and now, powerful.
That Pete Stark is a vulgar and arrogant elitist is the least of our problem. His views are dangerous and his inability to interact with those he disagrees with, thus bullies, makes him a very loose cannon. With the gavel of the Ways and Means Committee as his platform.
If he stays in the chairman's seat, Fourney "Pete" Stark can be who he is or be who he isn't. Either way, he is a liability to Pelosi, Obama and the American people.
Maybe Pete will start wearing his bathrobe and slippers to committee hearings.
UPDATE: Bummer! Fourtney isn't getting the gavel! Sander is getting it. Oh my, so much fun to be missed.
Stark out, Levin in at Ways and Means
If we got a quarter for every vulgarity that comes out of Stark's mouth, especially in the last 24 hours, our national debt would be history.

Green Movement Turning Brown And It Ain't Mud

Green autos, green food, green energy, green everything. Everywhere one goes there is something green or acting green or organic or environmentally friendly. Products such as washing and drying machines had to be redesigned, costing a lot more money, to save our planet.
As recycling plants popped up all over so did the warehouses filled with recycled materials. They still sit filled, but products tout being made of recycled material. Watch TV for an evening and see green coffee, green cleaners, green lights and even green TVs to watch the world turn green.
A flagship idea of the green movement, even highlighted by the Green Party, are wind turbines. The Green Party here in Ohio whose candidate, Dennis Spisak, has constantly spoken of the wonders of wind power. His "Why not Ohio" relates to all things green and just last month Dennis put out a press release entitled, "Why not Ohio? Spanish wind power company creates 1,100 jobs."
Why not Ohio? Well, because like everything else about the whole environmental movement/profit driven/power grab, it seems that Ohio doesn't need more green hoax.
‘Anti-Lobbyist’ Obama Administration Recruited Left-Wing Lobbyists to Sell Bogus ‘Green Jobs’
After two studies refuted President Barack Obama’s assertions regarding the success of Spain’s and Denmark’s wind energy programs, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request reveals the Department of Energy turned to George Soros and to wind industry lobbyists to attack the studies
I am a capitalist, so if companies want to try to sell me green underwear, deodorant, cereal, or whatever, that's their choice. If political parties want to sell green candidates, hey, more power to them. I won't vote for the candidates and I won't buy their products. I know when I am being bullied and when I am being taken, so I will actively work against what they are trying to do.
I want green beer on St Patrick's Day, I want green lawns, I want to make enough green to live, but I really don't buy their scam.
If I want green flip flops, I have a number of politicians I can buy. These days they come cheap.

Gas $7 Per Gallon For A "Theory" That's Falling Apart.
Now that AGW is settled science, oh wait, it isn't settled science, it is unsettled because it appears that the fix was in years ago just to make some serious cash. And someone saw the power that could be grabbed with the dubious at best science of AGW for an already failed political system of government control. Of everything.
Since they can't get you to stop buying vehicles you want they'll blackmail you through your gas tank. It's an ugly job destroying the fossil fuel industry, but somebody has to do it if the new energy industry is to succeed. And since the new industry can't win in the market place they have to have an ally that can force the issue. Enter closed door meetings between the 'green' acolytes and government bureaucrats. Quid pro quo.
Fuel Taxes Must Rise, Harvard Researchers Say
To meet the Obama administration’s targets for cutting greenhouse gas emissions, some researchers say, Americans may have to experience a sobering reality: gas at $7 a gallon.
This administration reminds me of the bungling crooks that for years plan meticulously and then blow it with arrogance. A little more patience and a few $100 mil more in cash could've sealed the deal with bought and paid for scientists, but with the White House and both the House and the Senate and a well paid bloated bureaucracy in their pockets, they jumped the gun. They never counted on scared politicians, the Internet and scientists that wouldn't toe the line.
And these morons think people are going to pay $7 per gallon for a theory that becomes more laughable by the day? Especially when WalMart is having a sale? On snow tires.
Power to the people and all that.

Charlie Rangel Steps Down Before Demos Vote Him Out
Rep. Rangel steps down from tax committee
Embattled Democrat takes ‘leave of absence’ amid ongoing probe
Personally I would like second-ranking, but first rank in the minds of loon lovers, to take the gavel. Who doesn't love the antics of Pete Stark-raving mad?
"You think you are big enough to make me, you little wimp? Come on. Come over here and make me, I dare you. You little fruitcake."
Of course, just like so many congressmen, like Rangel, Petey has a residence, tax and ethics problem. In short, he lies:
KTVU Channel 2 News has learned the modest house in Rep. Stark's East Bay congressional district that he purportedly lives in is in fact owned and occupied by his in-laws. No one KTVU contacted in the neighborhood has ever seen him near in the house.
Yes, there is a stark difference. At least Charlie Rangel is an affable crook.
UPDATE: Now Charlie is spouting things like, "You bet your life on it" and other such nonsense when asked if he will remain as chairman. This is an obvious slap in the face for Nancy Pelosi who bravely stated, “I guess he is still chair of Ways and Means…”
The Honorable Charles Bernard Rangel is only taking a "leave of absence" until the heat is over or the investigation concludes.
Maybe he can use this time to collect some rents and wash his garaged forever Mercedes.

Federalizing American Land For Federal Standards
When does a state have the right to tell the federal government enough is enough, no more. If I remember correctly, about 30% of American land is owned by some form of government. Put in Kelo and other potential land grabs and there might not be much private land left soon.
White House land grab Rate this story
Proposal to seize land would favor animals over Americans
The 21-page document, marked "Internal Draft-NOT FOR RELEASE," names 14 different lands Mr. Obama could completely close for development by unilaterally designating them as "monuments" under the 1906 Antiquities Act.
It says all kinds of animals would be better off by doing so, like the coyotes, badgers, grouse, chickens and lizards. But giving the chickens more room to roost is no reason for the government to override states' rights.
Rep. Robert Bishop, Utah Republican, made the memo public because he didn't want another unilateral land grab by the White House, like what happened under former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
Using the Antiquities Act, President Carter locked up more land than any other president had before him, taking more than 50 million acres in Alaska despite strong opposition from the state.

Obama Slaps America In The Face, "Nuk'em"
What part of representative government does Obama and Congress not understand? America wants health care reform, but not this government take over of our lives and our economy.
President Obama to Say Democrats Will Use Reconciliation to Pass Senate Health Care Reform Fix, If Not Given Up or Down Vote
Pelosi is safe in her district unless she's caught in bed with a little girl that refused an abortion, but Punch Happy Harry Reid is probably gone next election so what does he have to lose. The rest of the liberal lemmings appear to not care either, especially since they've been ordered not to worry about reelection.
Some, no doubt, will call it leadership to put in place legislation that is probably unconstitutional and also unwanted by the electorate, but I call it a power grab by those that would spit in the face of the American dream.
So, Obama says "Nuk'em".

It's Time For A Pot Party

Yep, PPUSA. Our logo will be various snacks and munchies that are made from green products.
.
Collectively we will work with government, stumble by stumble, to make this country totally awesome. So awesome that all those bad people will want to just come here to talk and chill. That's awesome by itself. Right? Talk about really cool grass roots. BTW, no coffee or tea stuff to mire the buzz, RC Cola or anything Big Gulp is cool.
.
Free pot for everybody. In fact, to drive the necessity of chill home, anybody not caught stoned will pay a fine equal to the current subsidized cost of a 1/4 lb of Jamaican.
.
And then we'll all watch free rad movies on our gigantical TVs with zombies and dynamite Napoleans all day while having 10 babes giving us food and beer. Oh, yeah, we can switch places with the babes next time so that'll be cool.
.
Tomorrow we can like go to the zoo and let the animals free because all things are beautiful. Maybe a zebra or something will follow us home. Oh wow, maybe a gila monster or one of those snipe things. That's be cool.
.
Check out the stars. It's far out to lay on your back and try to stare at just one and then realize all those stars could just be molecules that make up part of a thumbnail on a gigillion big person who's like thinking the exact thing. Whoa. Don't start that when you get to the end of all the universes what's on the other side thing. Bummer.
.
Everything will be like so totally copacetic and every person will get to choose what they do best or be cool at or whatever so there will be no more strife type war or anything. Man, people will be beautiful and happy and not have that bush or shrub thing bringing down their day.
.
I am stoked.

Obama. Hope. Change. Talk. Disaster.
Obama stated about Rick Warren, " We Can Disagree Without Being Disagreeable". Obama campaigned on variations of this statement, especially concerning America's "perceived" enemies. Perceived enemies that Obama believed George W. Bush made into our enemies.
Obama said that he was different. He said he was going to talk to our enemies and by doing so, he would bring them into the fold of peaceful coexistence with the United States of America.
Let's see how he is doing.
China PLA officer urges challenging U.S. dominance
China should build the world's strongest military and move swiftly to topple the United States as the global "champion," a senior Chinese PLA officer says in a new book reflecting swelling nationalist ambitions.
Putin: Russia to build new strategic bomber
"We won't limit ourselves to just one new model," Putin said at a government meeting that focused on military aviation. "We must start work on a prospective long-range aircraft, our new strategic bomber."
Farrakhan predicts 'white right' trouble for Obama
The 76-year-old leader said the "white right" was conspiring to make Obama a one-term president, and pointed to his stalled efforts to introduce health care legislation as proof. He said those opponents and lobbyists were trapping him into a future war with Iran that could lead to mass destruction.
Iran President Tells Obama to Back Off
Mahmoud Ahmedinejad Warns That U.S. Comments on Unrest Closes Off Possibility of Talks
So, outside solving his smoking and drinking problem what is Obama doing? Cause that talkin' thing ain't working. From his financial daddy to our prior allies and our enemies, they're laughing, challenging and about to pull the money and military power rug out from underneath us.
Hope and change. Bullshit. Our friends and enemies will disagree with us while being disagreeable and Obama will stand alone in the middle of the playground, arms despondently draped to his sides, wondering why noboby wants to play with him.
Water. Pool. Deep. Drown.

Tea And Coffee: A Constitutional Republic VS The Tyranny Of The Mob
To understand our form of government is not hard. Read the Constitution and amendments usually is a pretty easy way to start. To respect and honor our form of government is obviousley not so easy, just look at progressives, the courts and local and state governments and the federal government. They backstab our founders seemingly at will.
The Coffee Party believes the middle is consensus. The Tea Party believes the middle is the Constitution.
The Constitution is not a living document. It is based in principle as the vision for the United States of America's future and the founders deplored the idea of the mob controlling America whether it was the tyranny of the large states stepping on the rights of smaller states, industrial over agriculture or large government crushing the liberty of individuals.
let's start a coffee party . . . smoothie party. red bull party. anything but tea. geez. ooh how about cappuccino party? that would really piss 'em off bec it sounds elitist . . . let's get together and drink cappuccino and have real political dialogue with substance and compassion.
Progress is patriotic, they tell the camera. Wake up. Espresso yourself. Something is brewing, America.
How about a Latte Liberal Party? Yes, progress is patriotic, but not all progress(ivism), only progress that fits within the Constitution.
About Us
We are diverse — ethnically, geographically, politically, in age and in experience.
We are 100% grassroots. No lobbyists here. No pundits. And no hyper-partisan strategists calling the shots in this movement. We are a spontaneous and collective expression of our desire to forge a culture of civic engagement that is solution-oriented, not blame-oriented.
Your web presence shows that you are 100% grassroots, eh? Sharing goals, venues and projects with MoveOn, Organizing for America, unions, MSM and others and your coming out of the gate with professional logos, videos, websites and all of you fellow groups pounding the intertoobs to create the sense of an overnight avalanche of support. You're so hyper-partisan and non spontaneous, it will be interesting to unravel your finances to see who has really been funding you from inception.
We demand a government that responds to the needs of the majority of its citizens as expressed by our votes and by our voices; NOT corporate interests as expressed by misleading advertisements and campaign contributions.
We want a society in which democracy is treated as sacrosanct and ordinary citizens participate out of a sense of civic duty, civic pride, and a desire to contribute to society. The Coffee Party is a call to action. Our Founding Fathers and Mothers gave us an enduring gift — Democracy — and we must use it to meet the challenges that we face as a nation.
Any group is the sum of its parts. The Coffee Party is growing quickly and absorbing a variety of views and opinions. The one thing we all agree on is that Government has to change… and we would like it to change for the better instead of rolling back to the last Century.
Demand all you want as long as those demands are within the Constitution which clearly lays out the reason and the form of our form of government.
Democracy may be sacrosanct somewhere, but not here. You will call it nitpicking, which belies an ignorance of governance, but the United States of America is a Republic which is quite different than the tyranny of Democracy's majority. Again, you can demand all you want concerning the needs of the majority (who decides those needs to be prioritized by the majority?) as witnessed by your votes and voices, but again, Constitution; Republic; Law.
Vienna, Va.: If you look at the recent Pew study on the Millennial Generation, that group is more progressive than the preceding generations. How are the Coffee Party Groups specifically reaching out to that cohort? They are really important.
Annabel Park: Great point, Vienna! The Millennial Generation, frankly, has a lot to teach the rest of us when comes to appreciation of diversity and a sense of collective identity that transcends the usual lines that divide us. We want to appeal to them to not only be involved, but to take on leadership. We are starting chapters on college campuses where students can come together to practice democracy as a community.
I'm sure one of your instantaneous grassroots support groups will help you with this. Maybe the NEA and the Department of Education?
We believe that, when the Millennial Generation steps up for our country's future, it will lead to profound changes in our politics.
Annabel Park: We want to shift the paradigm from thinking of politics as a zero-sum game with two opposing sides. If one side loses, the other side wins. This is not a democracy. This is a misunderstanding of the tenets of democracy.
And you misunderstand the tenets of the Republic of the United States of America.
Democracy is based on the notion of the common good. People should come together to go through a deliberation process to produce collective decisions that benefit the common good.
Here in our Republic that deliberation process is called elections. You'll see the process in action next November.
What would Abraham Lincoln suggest if he were living today? Would he be willing to sit down and have a cup of coffee and discuss our nations issues? I think so (just maybe not with me). After the Civil War, the North had won a significant battle. He did not tell the people to follow the rules of a zero sum game. He did not recommend that we obstruct democracy but that we be "flexible in our efforts."
Lincoln never stated that we should be "flexible in our efforts." If the Civil War was not a zero sum then Lincoln would have compromised and toned down the rhetoric with the Confederacy. The unconditional surrender of the Confederacy was definitely zero sum. One wins. One loses.
The snowballing response made her the de facto coordinator of Coffee Party USA, with goals far loftier than its oopsy-daisy origin: promote civility and inclusiveness in political discourse, engage the government not as an enemy but as the collective will of the people, push leaders to enact the progressive change for which 52.9 percent of the country voted in 2008.
Oopsy-daisy my butt and that 52.9% is evaporating as quickly as they find out who Obama is and that progressive is just another way to spell socialist.
Republic, constitution and law. Form, process and the way things must be done. Fairly damned simple for most people.

Kos Guy Blackwaterdog Thinks America Racist, Yeah...
I don't think anyone was under some real illusion that the election of Barack Obama actually means the end of racism in America.
If they did they don’t understand humans.
I'm pretty sure that the president-elect knew it better than anyone. After all, he saw it every day, from the moment he announced his candidacy. To some degree, he saw it within his own party during the primaries. And he saw it in all ugliness during the general election. For half of this country, he was "That One". No matter how big and clear his victory was. No matter how smart he is. No matter how decent he is. No matter what a true patriot he is. No matter how optimistic and positive his vision for America was. All that didn't matter. Because at the end of the day, he was still black.
Over half the voters voted for him and I can with the same veracity as Blackwaterdog that those that opposed his election did so because they opposed his platform and who he was, not his skin color.
I'm quite old. I remember, vaguely, where my parents been on November 22, 1963. I've seen so many presidents. Some were feared, some were hated, some were adored, some popular and some not. But all of them, without exception, were treated with the highest respect deserve to the office of the president of the United States.
Highest respect? What crap. Both Bushs, Reagan and Nixon come to mind as not only not getting the “highest respect”, but were denigrated at every chance by their opponents and the media.
That is until a black man won the right to occupy this office. It's been 13 months now, and in the eyes of so many, Barack Obama is still that one. He is being disrespected and at the same time being held to the highest standard of any president I've ever seen – and not just by the Republican side. He has to perform three times better than any president in history, and even that may not be enough.
He is disrespected because of his disdain for others, his policies and his failure to achieve or resolve the problems we face. He is disdained because he has an agenda which is completely out of touch with the majority of the electorate. Can you say jobs?
For the media, he is many more times just "Obama" than "President Obama". They create scandals out of nothing issues. It took them at least 6 years to start giving Bush a small part of the shit he deserved. It took them 6 months to begin crap all over Obama because he's yet to fix the catastrophe that was left for him.
Whether the majority liked Bush or not they saw that he was focused on their priorities. Love the “highest respect” ole Blackwaterdog is showing the office of the President of the United States.
They use condescending tone when they talk about him, and only mildly less condescending when they talk TO him. With anyone else, CNN wouldn't dare go to commercials every time the president speaks, like they did during that summit on Thursday. They wouldn't dare counting how many minutes George Bush or Bill Clinton were talking. Chris Mathews wouldn't dare making an issue out of Ronald Regan calling members of congress by their first name, like he is not actually the freaking president. They fully cooperate with the Right-Wing smear machine when it comes to president Obama's national security performance – even if almost every independent and military expert actually thinks that he's a terrific Commander in Chief. You'll never see them on TV, and virtually no one from the Left, in congress and outside, defend the president on this matter.
This paragraph is so incoherent in light of the facts there is nowhere to begin, but one question might be, do you remember whether Clinton wore boxers or briefs?
I don't care about the Far-Right. They're just crazy ignorant Neanderthals. It's the way the beltway and the mainstream treats this president that is shocking. On Thursday, almost every Republican had no trouble interrupting him in the middle of a sentence. They looked like they're going to vomit every time they had to say "Mr. president". They all had this Eric-Cantor-Smirk whenever he spoke. Then they went out and started to spit their stupid talking points, to the delight of the media. Sarah Palin, a woman who can hardly read, thinks that he was "arrogant" towards John McCain, and somehow this is an important news. Because you see, "Obama's Arrogance" is the talking point of the day.
“Obama’s arrogance”? People might think that because they didn’t think his put down of McCain very dignified or respectful of the office of the presidency. They thought him petulant. To continue your love for the dignity of elected office, I hear Sarah Palin reads quite well, but I wouldn’t want you to think that I would compare your level of achievement to Gov. Palin’s as a measure of intellect. I am amazed at your acuity in being able to see that Republicans looked as if to vomit. That’s amazing.
Oh, those talking points. He is arrogant (because he knows the facts better than all of them combined). He is an elitist (because he uses big words that they don't understand). He is weak on national security (because he actually thinks about the consequences). He divides the country (well, he did that the day he had the audacity to win the election). Worst of all, he actually thinks that he's the president. He even dared to say so on Thursday. How arrogant of him. You'd think that previous presidents didn't have any ego. Somehow it turned out that the one president who treats even his biggest opponents with the utmost respect – is the arrogant one. I wonder why.
Knows facts better? How do you know that? Uses words that Republicans don’t understand? I’m sure you know that as fact. National security? Most Republicans see that as his bright spot. He divides the country by his audacity? Yep, but not because of your racist card toss. He should think he is president? Yep, he was elected. He’s the one president who treat his biggest opponents with the utmost respect? That is such a stupid statement I am sure you’ll winch that you made it once your rant wears off, but you wonder why he might feel this way and you answer it for him in your silent cry of RACISM?
I expected that his winning the Presidency would bring out some ugliness, but it's been far worse than i imagined. The racism coming from the Right is obviously clear and shameless, but there's also some hidden and maybe subconscious and disturbing underline tone behind some of the things that I read here and throughout the Left blogosphere, even before the end of Obama's first year - 'He's weak, he's spineless, he's got no balls, primary him in 2012'. It'll be dishonest to deny that.
'He's weak, he's spineless, he's got no balls, primary him in 2012.' That’s not what I am hearing from Republicans (you said that racism was clear and shameless in Republicans) and nor am I hearing that from Democrats that I know, work with socialize with. I do hear it from Progressives that think he betrayed their hopes and dreams, so, take that up with them.
The fact is that for millions in America, Barack Obama is this uppity black man (Not even a "real" black), who received good education only due to affirmative action, and has no right to litter the sacred Oval Office with his skin color. They just can't accept the fact that the president is a black man, who unlike his predecessor, was actually legally elected. But what's really sad is that it's not just the fringe, its deep deep in mainstream America.
Blackwaterdog, this paragraph shows how unhinged and scattered your thinking is. “Uppity”, “affirmative action”, “litter” “actually legally elected” and “mainstream America”? You are “deep, deep" (ly) disassociated with mainstream America and this proves it. Unlike mainstream America you allow pure hatred and rage flow through you words and thoughts choosing to throw reality to the gutter as useless.
Barack Obama's ability to remain above all this slob, to keep his optimism and his strange and mostly unjustified faith in people, while continuing to gracefully deal with an endless shitstorm – is one of the most inspiring displays of human quality I have ever seen. And i can only hope that the Cosmos is on his side.
“Strange and mostly unjustified faith in people.” Well, Blackwaterdog, he’s got you whether he would want you or not, but then that’s what your hoping isn’t it. It gives you gravitas. It gives you self importance.
It’s too bad you don’t give the utmost respect that the American people deserve, but you can’t because you think we’re stupid, as you are so much smarter to see us thus, in the true light that shines down just for you and President Obama.
That is sad.
If they did they don’t understand humans.
I'm pretty sure that the president-elect knew it better than anyone. After all, he saw it every day, from the moment he announced his candidacy. The Clownish Boorishness of Joe Klein
It is pretty obvious to practically everybody that Joe Klein is smug. Most can't comprehend why.
His latest ode to Obama is filled with so many falsehoods that it cannot be taken for anything other than a service rendered for future payment.
The Health Care Summit
Shame on me. I was elsewhere yesterday and missed the health care summit. I'm catching up now, and the tea leaves seem to indicate that Obama came out well ahead of the Republicans.
Klein's seeming hatred for all that is not he is a hatred that spews forth in vile terms, cloaked in his smugness, and outright lies in my opinion.
Yes, It's Racism...but it's Complicated
And even though the teabaggers' pinched , paranoid sensibilities are now being stoked by Boss Rush and the leaders of the Republican party, I take comfort in this: the racists and nativists have always been with us, and they have always lost. They will lose this time, too.
Klein has become a parody and is an embarrassment to his shareholders in the once proud Time corporation. Of course, if I were a shareholder I would immediately sell for something more profitable and less odious. Like Porta Potties.

I Can, I Can, You Rats
Shamelessly stolen from the Webutante. Go read the rest.
So here's a little school yard quiz: Do you know what the last four letters of American spell? I CAN. Now the last four letters of Republican? I CAN. Finally the last four letters of Democrats?
I am still chuckling. Thank you Webutante. I needed it this morning.

United Socialist States Of America
I've been asking and saying this for a while now and it is very good that conservatives are beginning to ask what they need to do about the success of the far Left's agenda in Washington. Be aware, if you are not, the left has been very successful in transforming America away from our roots and a free nation inhabited by rugged individuals.
Transformation
The left has made us much more docile. They are being "nice" to those that need help, they say. Bull, they are making the biggest power play in our history. They know it. They hope we don't, but more importantly, they don't give a damn. Win, lose or draw in the upcoming elections, they believe they have won by destroying the greatest experiment of freedom in the history of the world. Yep, that'd be the United States of America.
I think our side is analyzing this all wrong: Today's Democrats are controlled by the radical Left, and it is more important to them to execute the permanent transformation of American society than it is to win the upcoming election cycles. They have already factored in losing in November — even losing big. For them, winning big now outweighs that. I think they're right.
As Americans focus on the latest outrage executed by Obama and his administration they tend to forget the last outrage they made happen. Just as they planned. Huge auto corporations owned and operated they way the government (and their union lackeys) wants them operated. Banks being threatened and closed for "bad practices" that the government implemented and forced on the banks. States being blackmailed or bribed into submission. Whole industries deemed unworthy by the government are squeezed, battered and closed because they did not fit the government model. Look more closely at what government bureaucracies and Congress has done in the past years, but especially in the last year, and you will see that the United States of America is dissolving before your eyes.
If you are unwilling to do the hard work, welcome to the United Socialist States of America. I kid you not.

Ohio: Most Lib/Con Congressmen
BTW, I just read that Sherrod Brown is rated the most liberal member of the U.S. Senate. Way to go Sherrod. Keep voting against your constituents.

1965 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8

I loved this car. I bought one like this used and it was in beautiful condition. I kept it that way, but the Lucas electrics were a pain.
.
My interior leather was blue with a burled wood dashboard and a wooden steering wheel.
.
After a few years, like the fool I was, I sold it for a 400 Ram Air GTO which I blew up within a year.
.
I still have the AH 3000 manual.
.
My best friend and I put the top down one December and drove back to my house through 2' of snow with a 10' Christmas tree sticking out from the tiny (I mean tiny) back seat.
.
Yeah, we got some looks. Might've been the music.
Out all night, sleep all day,
I know what you're doing.
If you're gonna a-act that way,
Think there's trouble brewing.

Harkin Read Letter from Staffer's Relative At Health Care Meeting
Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, read a letter from a distressed constituent concerning the cost of health care. The constituent stated that costs were spiraling out of control stating that in the future he would pay in excess of $42,000 a year.
Sen. Harkin offered no proof as to the contents of the letter, but he used it as a dagger to the heart of fairness and honesty concerning the health care reform debate.
Nor did Sen. Harkin divulge that the letter was from a relative of one of his staff.
Convenient, eh?
