National Road In Ohio

I Love Old Motels

Their architecture is fun. Not always good, but fun. Route 66 is the road of fame and movies, but the National Road, Route 40, has some really great things built that I remember from my childhood. In Appalachia there was the "Snake Pit" with giant snakes pictured on their signs for miles and miles and the snakes were about 10" in reality.

Here in Ohio Route 40 is very cool. As a child and until now with my wife and children I have loved going to the Ding Ho Chinese Restaurant on West Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio (Hint: Chicken with vegetables, Won Ton Soup and and egg roll). The family that still owns it are really good and fine people.

Near there is the Route 40 Motel. So incredibly ugly/fun architecture that I remember from childhood.

The Philogynist Presidential Candidate Has Experience

Elton John: 'To hell with them'

Inside, Bill Clinton introduced his wife, thanked the packed house for contributions to keep the race going, and asked for more, to shouts of "We miss you, Bill."

"If you know anybody who didn’t come here tonight who could send some money over the Internet …," he said."What I want you to know is, I’m still standing," Hillary told the crowd. I believe that this country is worth fighting for, so we’re talking our campaign to Pennsylvania and to all the states that haven’t voted."

Elton John was a bit edgier:"I never cease to be amazed at the misogynist attitude of some of the people in this country," he said. "I say to hell with them."

Geez, lov'em or hat'em, they can't live without them.

NAACP Wrong To Have Wright

via Gateway Pundit (again!).

NAACP in Detroit to host Obama's embattled ex-minister
Rev. Jeremiah Wright to speak at Freedom Fund dinner

Over the years, speakers of the Freedom Fund dinner have included Obama, NAACP Chairman Julian Bond, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton. The Fight for Freedom Fund Dinner began in 1956. The event’s first speaker was civil rights lawyer and future U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.

They may be always wrong, but they are always predictable.

Eugene Debs To Host Air America?

via Ace

Personally I am aghast that I must wait for the announcement, but then I am also aghast that the ever lovely and vivacious Randi is gone.

Last week Air America suspended Randi Rhodes for abusive, obscene language at a recent public appearance in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.
Air America Media was informed last night by Ms. Rhodes that she has chosen to terminate her employment with the company. We wish her well and thank her for past services to Air America.

We will soon announce exciting new talent and programming that will accelerate Air America’s growth in the future.

Maybe it's not Eugene. Al Franken appears busy these days as well. Bill Maher is bearing his own cross of humor in real time to a Palestinian beat.

You know, maybe they have Lord Haw-Haw in the wings just waiting for the AA microphone. It'd be a step up for sure.
