
The church was founded by Litomyšl Premonstratensians in the middle of the 12th century and in the spirit of the legend of St. Illya represented a refuge for pilgrims and merchants along the old trails.
UPDATE: I neglected to give any geographical information. This region is very interesting. It is Svitavy, a town in the Svitavy District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. Many know it as South Moravia.
