The crowd's purpose was to shut down debate and the meeting in a feeble attempt to emulate similar meetings in which Tea Party members voiced their displeasure. And when Tea Partiers did voice their displeasure Democrats shut down future meetings. What occurred here though was a group of people shutting down debate. They succeeded.
They were pleased. So they chanted.
This is the way their ancestral union leaders did things and it worked because the press was behind them to convince the public. In today's world where the media is bypassed to see the truth this method is failing which allows people to see political idiots for what they are.
