As usual, it's everybody else's fault. Last time Turbo Tax and this time a temporary clerk. It's never their fault.
Daschle Regrets Tax ‘Errors,’ Gets Nod From Baucus
“deeply embarrassed”
Daschle amended his returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007, and paid $140,000 in taxes and interest.
Daschle refiled his returns Jan. 2 to add unreported consulting fees, unspecified charitable contributions and a car and driver provided by Leo Hindery Jr.
Daschle, 61, was aware in June that his free use of a car service might be taxable, according to a report to the Senate Finance Committee.
Daschle’s accountant decided in December that Daschle’s tax returns had to reflect use of the car, after the presidential vetting team raised the question of whether certain charitable donations were deductible, Daschle wrote in the letter.
‘Imputed’ Income
Daschle also hadn’t reported a May 2007 consulting payment of $83,333 from InterMedia, which paid him that amount each month. The tax forms provided to Daschle by InterMedia for 2007 didn’t include the payment because the money was transferred by a different method that month by a temporary clerk, InterMedia officials told the committee.
“something made him think that the car service might be taxable.”
John Kerry on the same program called the tax problem an “innocent mistake that doesn’t affect one iota his ability to do the job.”
Daschle earned $220,000 from health care industry
That was just a portion of the more than $5.2 million the former South Dakota senator earned as he advised insurers and hospitals and worked in other industries — real estate, energy and telecommunications among them, according to a financial statement filed with the Office of Government Ethics.

Obama has said that no one in his administration who has lobbied on a set of issues within the past two years can deal with the same subject matter. The president has already approved a few exceptions, one of them a former Goldman Sachs lobbyist picked to be chief of staff for Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. Daschle, however, is not a registered lobbyist.
Liberals can't seem to pay the taxes they promote as a "patriotic duty" nor can Obama not find exceptions he cannot ignore for putting his early supporters and buddies in positions of power.
Obama seems to be in some rough water as seen below with his picks. His life is going to get worse with Nana Pelosi stabbing him in the back and Reid boring people to sleep at every turn.

"I am in this race to tell the corporate lobbyists that their days of setting the agenda in Washington are over," Obama said in November 2007 in Des Moines, Iowa. "I have done more than any other candidate in this race to take on lobbyists and won. They have not funded my campaign, they will not run my White House, and they will not drown out the voices of the American people when I am president."
