Outside of Sendak this book covers a whole lot of my youth in which both my parents, my grandmother, my aunts and my sisters read to me.Especially glorious was arriving at a point in the story where one of them would carefully turn the book so I could view the appropriate illustration.
Many times, that night's shared illustration shaped my dreams until the next chapter's view. "Last of the Mohican's" filled my little mind with horror and deeds of valor for years.
To relive and pass on this wonderful gift, I read to my two munchkins. It was a pleasure as well.
