Propaganda has always been to make the lie believable, to gain political or social power or significance. The real problem with propaganda is that is, by nature, a self sustaining necessity for the propagandists in that to survive they must continuously produce more. The tragedy of propaganda is that the propagandist usually begins to believe their own work.
